I prep my beds for spring then use landscape cloth in the winter it’s black and helps thaw the ground in spring. Water penetrates too and no squirrels!

Thank you, Joe. Appreciate the wisdom you share with us. I will try my buzzing my toothbrush on my tomato flowers. What edible plants are best to group seed? Which plants have roots too sensitive to group?

Thanks! Actually, I find that you can do this with most seeds. I've had good success with most. I think the ones I would not group with the intention of separating would be the root crops since they don't like to have their roots disturbed. So no to carrots, parsnips, beets, and radishes. Peas and cucumbers don't like root disturbance either, so add those to the list. Otherwise, I think you are pretty free to try the rest. Good luck
