My flying adventure in Nepal. Flying Himalaya Airlines A320 from Dubai to Kathmandu. Beautiful landing in Kathmandu from the flight deck.
Next, I flew on Nepal Airlines MA-60 and Y-12. We can see the amazing Mt Everest during the flight.

Yeah but its sad it is unclean. One doesn't need to be rich to be clean. One just have to respect their land enough to not treat it like dustbin. I went to manakamana on micro and this family was throwing chips wrapper, plastic water bottle out of windows wanted to say something but i stopped because it doesn't feel good to 'lecture' grown up strangers..on a retrospect i should have . All along side of highway plastics ruining the beautiful landscapes. Yes it may have to do with education level...most of us are afterall first or second generation literate. And many still dont have access to education. Anyway Lets make people aware to keep country clean. Its not impossible, we dont need money for it just will power and love for the country.

Well, it may all be very poor and precarious, the airport is definitely not Changi or Incheon or Chek Lap Kok, the on-board comfort certainly not the Singapore Airlines suites, the catering not designed by a Michelin-starred chef, but still, I was very moved by the genuine smiles of those adorable crew members who obviously love what they do. That's pure love of aviation, something that if one is watching this channel, one is very likely to relate and understand. In that respect, Nepali airlines should be the envy of many Skytrax star-studded big international carriers. Lovely!

I love Nepal too, but flying there is always an adventure, but at least it beats driving. For a real adventure, try taking flights to some of the lesser-known airports like Juphal or Jumla or Taplejung on some of the smaller airlines like Tara Air or Sita Air or Buddha Air. I found some USA-based pilots who switched over from Delta or United on some of these odd routes, guys who used to fly Boeing or Airbus jets in the USA, but can earn more, tax-free, in Nepal, flying and training pilots there. Add in the fact that you can practically sit in the cockpit, and it's an aviation-adventure nerd's dream destination.

I can still recall when as a kid in the 70s and 80s I used to travel in the Indian Airlines we were given chocolates just before takeoff. While this looked liked a good gesture there is logical reason to do this. There is a tube connecting the inner eardrums to the back of our nose and mouth called Eustachian Tube. The purpose of this tube is to maintain pressure inside our eardrums. Each time we swallow or even chew we force air into the eardrums through this tube which in turn is pushed out to maintain atmospheric pressure. In the older aircraft where cabin pressurisation was high there was a risk of eardrums busting if the tube did not work fast enough to equalise the pressure. Therefore the chocolates to help put the tube in action.

Most modern day aircraft's are pressured at 8000 feet when the aircraft is at 41000 feet. This can further be reduced to 6500 but that would cost the airline quite a bit more. In the world of private airbus corporate jets its quite common to have a cabin pressurisation of 6500 feet. Smaller private jets like Gulf-streams have cabin altitude of 3500 feet when the jet cruises at 50000 feet. This reduces the jet lag and we dont feel quite as tired on arrival. The most modern aircraft the Airbus 350 has a cabin altitude of 6000 feet courtesy its composite materiel fuselage. In addition to this the modern aircraft's have a higher CFM. Air circulates faster to keep the cabin air more breathable. Further the cabin noise level can be reduced to 48 db, one of Sams videos on Deer-jet has that level of cabin insulation. There is a lot of technology out there, only the airline should be prepared to spend that kind of money.

My first flight was in the 90s with Indian Airlines, when i was a 10 yr old. I had taken just one Candy and the Stewardess asked me to a bunch more and I was elated! of course not so much later when i had to use the sick bag to empty the omelette which i had eaten. Travel nowadays is so comfortable that you won't feel like getting off the plane!

Flying in Nepal is very similar to flying in Papua New Guinea. Lots of turboprops and Mountains. PNG also has many islands. Recently Cathay Pacific announced that it would suspend services to Cairns (my home town) after more than 30 years service. It took Air Niugini (PNG's national carrier) just a few days to announce it would be servicing the route via Port Moresby. That's good business.

I'm not sure how you measure your economy travel, but it would seem that you need to expand your experiences to Northern Canada before you judge that (Nepal) experience to be the "worst" economy ever. Every person you dealt with in the industry there was amazingly hospitable. You had access to the crew, the cockpit, and the ramp for filming. and everyone was professional, clean, and happy. The airplane snags and infrastructure glitches you commented on near the end are worldwide problems, and are not peculiar to Nepal.

Hello Sam, Your video within Nepal was quite interesting but u need to mention also the contribution of Bed Upreti the captain of Nepal Airlines who made all his own to convert one aeroplane to an extreme and beautiful museum . He bought this aircraft by own his efforts ( money) so it was not just dumped or left by Turkish airlines. This guy is crazy... He has now two aircraft museum in Nepal. OK. Now I know where my next major trip will be - Nepal. Loved the footage from the flight deck. The landing at Biratnagar reminded me of us landing in Labuan, Malaysia many (many) years ago on a DC-10 (?). Full flaps, engine running at its very lowest, it felt like we were just floating. As soon as we saw the runway under us, touch down, and full throttle reverse. BTW: I thought you were just joking in your preview clips with the cotton stuffing ;O At least the airline is considerate of its passengers :)

Yes nepalese people are wonderful, I ended up meeting my partner when I was 16 he is Nepali and now we have a beautiful daughter. We are yet to take her to Nepal! Travel in Nepal kinda scares me though... but this flight wasn’t too bad 👍🏻 great video

It's scripted and manipulated --- Both the captain and Sam are smearing the Y-12. Aside from Sam smearing of the MA-60 with "Be aware!" after mentioning MA-60 for the first time....his remark of "difficult to fly" on the MA-60 is a lie -- it's easy to fly on a MA-60 and Y-12 ...by going to China and booked an airline that fly these 2 planes. Beside from this ...Sam's focusing on the "Tibet House" is give-away of anti-China.

Normally they don't even allow you to see inside the cockpit, but looks like Nepal airlines are pretty liberal to video the take off and landing and that too inside the cockpit. This is really surprising, usually the pilots and air hostess tend to behave rudely when you approach them for these things (they simply deny as security procedures). But good you have documented it perfectly.
