Thank you! I believe this is exactly what's wrong with my 5000. Ran fine when parked, went to start a few months later, pushed the fuel shutoff in and it was stuck then suddenly broke free. Got good fuel to the pump, but nothing through it. I bet I have the same issue you did. Again, thanks!

Thank you for the video. When there are so much dirt in the tank, it could also be a good idea to change the little filter in the inlet valve on the CAV pump. The filter is normally included in the kit.

Put a quart of automatic transmission fluid for every 5 gallons of diesel in the tank. Lots of detergents to clean the pump out and it ass lubricant to the fuel witch used to be gotten from the sulfur in the fuel but today's diesel is ultra low sulfur and doesn't lubricate as well

Im thinking this is whats wrong with my tractor dad always left the shut off pulled out as a safety precaution and i hear that makes them stick over time. Mine ran fine when parked then I went to get it out for some chores and it wouldn't start up. Thanks for making this video.

I am amazed you came out with this video! I've been fighting my 3000 diesel for two years of no starts! Had the IP rebuilt a year ago. Started and ran perfect the first day I used it. It has never started again! Long story, but warranty expired on rebuild before I could get my now ex-tractor guy back out. 🤬 I took the top off of my pump. It was fairly rusty and sticky. Put all that stuff in ultrasonic cleaner and it looks new. Back together and still no start! My spring was also in middle holes. Got fork linkage lined up with tab from shutoff arm. Pump primes and shoots diesel out of side of pump, but nothing to injectors. Man it's been the worst, and I spent so much $$$$ before I took over. Man, just so down..... On a different note, where did you get your tank? Need that too. So glad you got yours running!! Been borrowing my neighbors tractor for two years now.... 😔

I hope you are able to get your running. Assuming it will run on ether? My tank came from eBay. It was around $150.

@@mjmcomputers Yes, it sounds like it's trying to blow itself up, but it will fire up on starting fluid. 🚜💥

@@laytonwhip even with mine stuck in the off position it was still getting fuel to the injectors as I was able to bleed the air out of them. Not enough it would fire though. Maybe it was only partially in the off position? It does sound like there is something internally wrong with your pump. I was considering getting a aftermarket unit if mine needed a fuel rebuild.

I just had to have my injector pump rebuilt for a Ford 3600, sat for an extended period and the fuel got algae. The pump looked rusted like yours, and it was all seized up. I could not get it running and just sent it out to be rebuilt. The issue could be the internal vane pump is seized, where the vanes are stuck and not creating any pressure to the injectors, thats what got me. I had the pump spitting out of the bleed screw too, just got nothing at the injectors. Mechanic said to pump some TSC ATF in the tank with fuel, the detergents keep the algae out. I am also trying to run the equipment at least every month or two to keep everything loose. This is all really just a fuel problem with the modern diesel.

Thankyou, my Ford 3000 had this exact problem.

That red stuff in the fuel is algae... Need to run a algaecide fuel additive to really clean it up in make sure it doesn't come back.

Could be but I know some of it was rust.

Awesome video thanks. Mine seems to be having the opposite problem with the shutoff valve. Tractor starts and runs nicely but then it won't shut off! Do you think the metering valve isn't turning far enough to shut it off?
@frankdelagarza2693 Жыл бұрын
I'm having the same problem, could it be an electrical problem? Does yours have the "wird" sparkplugs that have a "coil like" spring attached to it all one piece? I've never seen any sparkplug like that. It's an AG-5 champion.

looks the same as a 550 ford backhoe i have. i did some of what you did. gonna keep on it,no fuel coming out to injectors. i think its the shut off for sure.

I have one of these pumps on a JD engine in an air compressor. If it sits for a month or more, something inside sticks closed and it will not send fuel to the injectors. I've tried various things, including pressurizing the fuel to the inlet. I've had it off and all apart but didn't see any obvious problems. All clean inside. The simplest fix I've found is to take a small ball pein hammer and tap all 'round the pump, on the end, top cover, etc. That seems to loosen up and cure the problem, and it starts up right away after that. Annoying. Looking around the 'net and on youtube I see others have this problem as well. Also don't forget to put cleaner and ATF in the fuel, 1quart to 10 gallons.

Why not make a gasket instead of putting the rtv junk on that may get in the pump ?

Old time diesel would not rust the tank and polished metal parts in the pump, like that -- When they made ULSD the chemicals that were added to the fuel causes corrosion of the metal and water retention in the fuel -- adding a quart of transmission fluid to the tank or 2 cycle oil will help

The fuel tank could have been steam pressure washed on the inside and then I make my own swabber/giant Q tip with a wooden stick and a rag duck taped to the stick. Then blast the inside of tank with compressed air.

This tank was pretty rusty inside.

Stop running biodiesel in it and your problems will be solved. That’s what corroded your tank so badly. I am a professional diesel mechanic and I deal with the same problems all the time with cyclic use older diesel engines. And running some marvel mistory oil in your fuel tank is also very helpful to stop such problems.
@mjmcomputers4 ай бұрын
I’ve never ran biodiesel in it. I only run regular diesel. I have no idea what the previous owner ran but that would have been years ago.
