CAV rotary diesel injection pump repair, on the international tractor

A vast improvement to starting obtained by a few hours replacing a few parts in this International B275 injection pump.

About 15-20 years ago I dug into the pump on our b275 because the fuel shutoff wouldnt work anymore. My dad used to smack it with a hammer and it would work again for some reason. Upon disassembly I discovered that the hammer was further wrecking it which was obvious in hindsight. The whole fuel intake with the springs and valves and the screen was all smashed in. Like with yours, it was filled with sludge along with the whole rest of the pump which was the actual cause of the issue. My dad always warned me about injection pumps and how complicated they were. With nothing to lose with this tractor I felt confident in the fact I had nothing to lose. To my amazement it wasnt a little box of incomprehensible magic. It made sense and I was able to replace the broken parts using a parts pump we had and reassemble it to working order again. I used the tractor just yesterday to move manure. Thanks for the video!
