I just want to say I really value your “extra long video” and I’m glad you kept at the same pace and detail throughout because it’s such valuable information near the end with your pilot capless pens. I was thinking that one day I’d invest in a pilot VP F because I’m a lefty and scratchy is a no-go situation. But your experience with their line width thickening due to being a gold nib is a game changer.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I appreciate you! 🥰 Yes, I think if you are not into the scratchy feeling, then an F is a good call! The M is very nice for bolder lines, but it felt like a pretty big jump from the F. If you end up getting one, I hope you it meets your hopes and expectations! ✒️💓

If you polish metal pens instead of letting them patina, they have natural antimicrobial properties. Just a fun fact I like to share because Covid scarred me 😂

I love grabbing a cozy drink and doing my journaling with your videos on a regular basis! It’s changed my routine and has helped me so much. It’s like therapy without the pressure, and it’s helped focus my self reflection and intentions in my journal. The topics and your thoughts are so relatable and eye-opening, it makes me cry in a good way :’) . I even love any stationery reviews like this because your voice and demeanor is so soothing and centering, it’s like listening to my good friend talk about our shared interests. My self care has leveled up because of you. Thank you, I appreciate your work!

Oh my gosh, it is hilarious just HOW MUCH you sound like I do! Our pen journeys are parallel and this could be my video (with a few different brands thrown in). The impulsiveness, the need for “yet another pen”, the joy, the hobbies, the love of Wonder Pens. Anyway, hi, my name is Angie and I (too) am a fountain pen addict (and am Canadian). Nice to meet you! And now I want your leather pen wallet! It looks so soft! We will have to meet up at the pen shop sometime! We can inspire each other…to resist OR indulge! 😏😉

I still keeping it. It still can write well but not as smooth as my current favourite pen which is Sheaffer Targa with F Nib, which I start using during my working time.

The Sheaffer is an Imperial! They come in two types of filling systems: a cartridge converter that accepts Sheaffer proprietary carts/cons, and a touchdown system that will likely require a new latex sac and o ring at the top of the barrel - both are likely to have degraded over time. You can check which system it is by checking for the seam of the blind cap at the back of the barrel: the touchdown unscrews so you can pull and push the pneumatic tube inside, while the c/c version just unscrews at the grip section. The inlaid nibs on these pens, both steel and gold, are amazing writers, wet and buttery smooth. Hope you enjoy your Imperial!

I love your more thoughtful approach, it's very nice and an approach I wish I could adopt as I most likely have ADHD lol myself and I've got some impulse control problems as you do, especially with hobbies. My Pilot Fermo (part of the Vanishing Point/Capless series) is my all time favorite pen. I bought it earlier this year at the end of spring as an early birthday gift. I got it from Japan, so I thought it was going to take much longer to arrive than it did, but I have no regrets in buying it. I'm thinking of getting a decimo as well since the Fermo has a twist instead of a click mechanism and a click would be more convenient for me, I think. I bought my Fermo in a fine, but I think I want to try an extra fine or a medium next time and have plans to buy a stub nib unit for my Fermo as I have never tried a stub before. My collection looks so chaotic in comparison to yours lol. I definitely was out of control for a good while before I calmed down (mostly because I just started hyper focusing on another hobby) and I have over 20 pens, five of which I never use anymore. I really need to start using some of my other pens again, but I've got a few I'm not a fan of the nibs on anymore so I'm not sure what to do there yet as you can't buy replacement nibs for them, so I either have to just get a whole new pen, find someone to grod the nib for me, or do it myself (which is very nerve wracking!!)

Thank you for your kind words! Managing impulses is a lifelong process (at least it is for me), and I'll be honest and share that my collection has changed a bit since I posted this video! Having multiple hobbies helps to keep the desire to add to the collection for sure. I would love to try a Pilot Fermo someday! They look so pretty! I haven't tried a stub nib before, but I have a medium VP nib and it's fantastic! I have a love-hate relationship with the extra-fine because I love how thin the line is, but I dislike how scratchy it feels to write with. I'm also at the point where some of my pens need some serious help. I missed the chance at getting a nibmeister to look at it during Scriptus, so I'm currently waffling between sending it out to someone or attempting to fix it myself (the latter scares me, especially b/c the pen that's been giving me the most trouble lately is my beloved Vanishing Point!).

Thank you! The leaking can be frustrating! Even with my Decimo, I somehow got ink in the part where the top and bottom of the pen twist together and I ended up with big ink stains on my hands. 🫠 Thankfully, that only happened once. There are a few different capless pen brands out there too, so you have options if you decided that you wanted to try one in the future. ☺️

Thanks for your video. It's so interesting how much variety there is in fountains pens and their users. Non FP people wonder what’s all the fuss about I'm sure. I have that Sheaffer pen that your Dad gave you - the black one with the gold V. The old style converter in mine has worked perfectly for decades and still does. And my interest is all about coloured inks and coordinated pens. So my favourites are medium and bold nibs so that the ink colours can be enjoyed and really broad nibs for headings. Fine and EF don't make me happy at all. But luckily there is something for everyone out there. X
@LittleCocoStudio
@LittleCocoStudio 28 күн бұрын
I agree with your statement about non FP enthusiasts not understanding what all the fuss is about. Even my parents were surprised at how excited I was when they showed me their old pens. To them, they were simply writing instruments, and they have long since switched to ballpoint and gel pens. I do love how medium and bold nibs feel to write with and how they show off ink properties!

I enjoyed your video. I started with an inexpensive Sheaffer I bought over 30 years ago that still writes great. I bought a $30.00 Sheaffer pen and a Sheaffer calligraphy kit shortly thereafter that I have only recently used for the first time. In 2015, I was walking in Toronto when I saw the Wonder Pen shop and went inside. Liz sold me my first Jinhao (no # metal pen with fake diamond in the clip) and two bottles of J. Herbin ink (Rose Cyclamen and Blue Pervenche). In the last year, I have purchased 5 Jinhao pens, a Hero pen, a Cobee wood pen, a Stongeo pen and 7 Lamy Safari-esque Chinese knock-off pens, a Wordsworth and Black pen, and a Pilot Kakuno from Amazon. I just purchased 3 Platinum Preppies from Blesket in Brampton and Phidon in Cambridge. The Wordsworth and Black is the most expensive at $40.00. So most of my pens are cheap but so far they all seem to work okay. So 24 pens but I don't have ADHD. The Chinese knock offs were so inexpensive I thought I'd just give them a try. The Hero I paid $1.59 for and I love the way it writes! The Preppies I bought o-rings and silicon grease for so I can use as eyedropper pens. My Jinhao 9019 has a large converter which I love! I don't need anymore pens but I will buy a TWISBI Go. When I can get to the city I will try some of the more expensive pens in the shops before buying. I plan to use my Lamy knockoffs for drawing with bright colours. So I am trying to determine what I like in a fountain pen before buying more expensive pens.

I’ve heard such great things about Jinhao pens. if I had known about them during my research phase, I might have picked up a pen or two to experiment with! It’s so hard to know what you’ll like without trying a bunch of options first!

You have some very nice ideas in your weekly sections. I like most of them. The memories with pics probably does take the most time. I wonder if you retained more memory of these events over the long haul, just because you have pics and descriptions written down at the time. They are like snapshots of your life, which I find very appealing. I also have a Cousin and now in August, I have not used that section at all. I think I will try some of your ideas and see if I like using it. I do not really need a weekly section, but find that the Daily works well enough for my appointments, To-Dos, etc. I only use one planner for my personal life, which I use for everything, including journaling. I want to switch to an Original, but worry that the downsize may not leave me enough room for everything. Yet, the Cousin seems too big. I have the Goldilocks syndrome :)
@LittleCocoStudio
@LittleCocoStudio 3 ай бұрын
I think you may be right about the photos being helpful for retaining memory. For me to be consistent with photo memory keeping, I’d have to find a more efficient way to curate and print my photos, I think. I could see myself keeping up with deceiving a photo in writing, but falling behind if I’m waiting for photos to do my memory keeping. Minor issues, really. And considering this is a hobby, it’s a fun challenge! If you do try some of the idea for your weeklies, I’d love to hear your thoughts on what worked well / less well for you! I can relate to your sentiment of the Cousin feeling like too much space sometimes and the A6 being too small. And the Goldilocks dilemma. 😅 Ironically, if I tried to combine my personal journaling and work, I think I’d need something even bigger, like a B5. I was tempted by the Sterling Ink B5, but then I thought about having that open on my desk during the work day, and I think it might feel overwhelming.

I am with you on the pilot nibs. The decimo is definitely my favorite I have small hands and they are kind of weak; the vanishing point is just a little too heavy for me. I have the same color you do, plus a bright pink with gold trim Special Edition from a Japanese stationery store. I will probably sell the pink one because it feels excessive. I have the same problem you do with impulse buys. If you were ever looking for another budget pen, the pilot Kakuno is a very nice pen with a large ink capacity. It fits the con 70 converter.
@LittleCocoStudio

A bright pink decimo with gold trim sounds so pretty!! 😍 I think I am boring, because I keep returning to my black VP. While it is heavier than the decimo, I find the clip doesn’t bother me with the way I grip my pen. For the decimo, the clip tends to irritate me more for longer note taking sessions, so I’m not reaching for it as much. :( I love the EF nib, though. I think I prefer it to my Sailor PGS EF. I don’t have much experience selling pens, but I might try to sell my Decimo. I might buy a spare EF nib unit, or maybe try a different pen all together, like the Kakuno you suggested!

We have all been there, and thought some pen was going to be way more life changing than it was. The bright side is that there are also times when we find cheap pens that turn out to be way more life changing than we ever expected. The Kaco edge was like that for me, and after my own adhd impulse buys I’ve vowed not to spend over $40 on a pen. If you have adhd then idk how you are confident enough to keep buying these expensive ones because WE LOSE STUFF all the time 😂. Happy for you that you can keep up with stuff, just admitting that I can’t. If you have a secret please share.

That’s a great point! I agree that I can be surprised by how much a small thing can feel life changing. To your question about losing things…. I struggle with losing / forgetting stuff all the time. 😩 My approach now is to limit the amount of things I gave to keep track of (not that I’m always successful!). I have one purse, one winter jacket, one pencil case, etc. And for things I really cherish, like my expensive pens, I keep them close by (I have been known to bring my pen wallet to the grocery store 🫣🤣). It doesn’t always work and I still lose things, but having an awareness of my limitations and adapting my environment to set myself up for success have helped.

I could be wrong about this, but if your Melbourne breakfast tea doesn't taste as good, it might be to do with the water not being hot enough when you brew. In Australia our electric kettles are 240volts, while Canadian and US appliances only run at 120volts. This means your electric kettles never reach the boiling point of 100C . Black tea requires 100C water to brew properly. The answer would be to boil water on the stove for the tea, which you might already do. There are a lot of variables and you didn't give any details about your process. I hope you manage to work it out and enjoy your tea.

Thank you for these tips! I haven't tried boiling water to make the black tea. I've been using an electric kettle at 202F (94C) so that may explain the discrepancy. I'm going to try boiling water on the stove tomorrow to see if that helps! Thank you!

@@LittleCocoStudio Three more things you could do, 1. Pre-heat your teapot - just swirl a bit of boiling water in it before adding your tea and toss that water out. 2.
