As a previous tC owner the rear bumper was always an issue when I had mine I absolutely loved the car had a lot of plans for it but totaled it bc of a deer and with the cartridge oil filter the factory one is very fragile and they make metal OEM replacement ones at any auto parts store I would definitely think about getting one just in case if the next oil Change that cartridge filter cap breaks

By far one of my favorite cars! Have had mine for 5 years now. I’m so excited to see yours nice and cleaned up so I can get some tips and ideas for mine. There isn’t enough people doing TC builds with the new models. Definitely curious to see what you do for the bumper fitment cuz I have the same issue where they are just popping out. Watching you clean the entire car sent me for a trip just cuz I know the interior feels big and small at the same time 😂 but climbing back out of it makes you realize how low it is to the ground!

Also there are super amazing looking spec D headlights and taillights available for your year and the 2AR motor is actually pretty good. The trans just kinda sucks. I have the 6 speed manual but its not much better tbh.

Hey Dan, quick tip for ya. If you or someone you know uses amzoil, you can take the bottle, and it screws right into the oil fill. Cut the bottom off and BAM perfect funnel.

I had a 2012 tc really liked it for what it was. Everything on them is super simple to fix or change. That being said it would just toss the headlight in the bin and get some aftermarket ones. Think Spec-D has good headlights and tail lights that would look good on it. My 2012 on the back of the factory radio had rca outs so you could easily put subs in it if you wanted.

As a second gen tC owner myslef the best thing you can do is keep it simple. Thats the plan with mine, keep yours for as long as you can. With it being a Release Series they grow rarer by the day.

The one shop i used to be at had replacement ends for the jack stands so you can fit them under the car and still hook up to the frame.

Yeah I think it looks hella solid as it is. Maybe make the spoiler black, a good detail on the bodywork, buff out the headlights (or led headlights on that baddie, phillips does led h4 and h7 bulbs now btw), som slightly nicer but not too over the top wheels, and blackout the badges. something like that

I have a focus st with a single outlet exhaust in the middle, similar to that scion. I have a full aftermarket exhaust, but I used the same tip I had because I liked it a lot. I love the look and you don't see it on too many cars. Leave the exhaust tip!

I recommend replacing that oil filter cap with a metal one from your nearest part store. The plastic ones tend to break during removal, especially if you're not careful or dont put the removal tool on completely straight.

Last one I promise. If you pull the intake and clean the valve and intake I saw a significant mpg gain. Near 5mpg. It's worth it and would be cool to see if you're able to do it

i used to be a castrol gtx nuthugger but for the last few years i have been using the WALMART SUPERTECH Full Synthetic with LUCAS PURE SYNTHETIC oil stabilizer and a FRAM ULTRA SYNTHETIC filter. work just as good as all the other "big name brands" but for less money.

For your lift problem, get some tire saver ramps, you can get a set for 150 from jegs. You drive up on them then you can swing the lift arms under

Don't know if anyone has said this yet but I have experieced the same probelm with the lift arms before. We just keep the vehicle in neutral so we can push it forward/backwards to get the arms underneath it.

For the lift, usually, both sets of arms swing towards the rear. Then you just swing the short arm under the car, rather than having to lift the car to put the arms in place.

The only thing you did not replace like every home mecanic is the crush washer on the oilpan plug.. cost less than $0.20... you should do it on your motorcycle also

It seems most people don't know about the transmission problem in these cars. The rear input shaft bearing fails and needs to be replaced, not 100% sure it won't happen again though even if you use the new bearing (different part number that replaces old one)

When I removed my seats to clean after I replaced them I had and airbag and seatbelt light come one. Curious if you'll have the same issue

If you disconnected the airbag harness for the seats with the battery still connected or forgot to plug them back in (yellow plug/harness) before hooking the battery back up it will trigger an airbag light. Have to take to a dealer or use a scan tool to reset.

So, just my opinion, make the TC a track/ autox car by ONLY doing suspension upgrades and see how the times improve, would be a good experiment to see how suspension makes a car "faster" without any engine work, PLUS it will let you get good at track driving before you Put the C8 on the track

you're running high profile point on your lift. you just got to get the low profile ones. most pro shops have like 5 or so lift pads for different ride heights and styles.

It wasn't the pads, it was the lift arms themselves. They made contact with the side skirts, so I had to add the pad spacers and lower the car on them
