Also regarding switches inside the two near the gear selector are- on left is HDC on or off, on the right is Hi and Low ranger transfer box, suspension is controlled from the round switch lower centre consol with the up and down arrow on and is setting is shown on the panel next to it, access, road, off road. There is also a button up near the window panel on the drivers door that puts it in access mode.

Regarding the radio it’s not a two min job updating it as all the workings are in the boot (left side- also check for water as they ALL leak there at some point, normally roof joint or boot hinge.) Cd changer, sat nav drive etc all in the boot, at the from is just a screen with a few buttons on, prob have the pop up screen with tape deck behind.

Great cars if looked after, had a few of them, currently have a jag engines 4.2sc v8 one. Warning lights and air suspension is more than likely abs sensor, easy job but normally need drilling out as they corrode in. Wheels on that arnt right for the engine/ age. Look out for failing gearbox’s but at 250,000 it will have had one or two rebuilds, GM5 speed isn’t the most hard wearing. Look out for front and rear subframe corrosion, it can look heavy but good hammering can remove it and then wax it, they are substantially built so don’t rot through too easily. Check rear arches and sills behind the plastic sill trim as they rot there. Otherwise look after it and there great machine, parts are cheap too.

My L322 cost £1100 to purchase. I have spent some time and money on it. Still here and won’t be going anywhere. As you have found out Matt, they drive absolutely fantastic and the driving expensive is unique. Reference the air suspension. First turn the steering wheel from lock to lock. This will temporarily turn the lights off. Long term it will be the steering angle sensor. Easy to change, if awkward. Also a fantastic way of getting L322 content without actually purchasing one.

@@furiousdriving Glad he got it sorted. I've just had to hunt around for a realistic quote on my old Range Rover Classic as I got a renewal quote of £2500 after only paying £300 last year. I tried to explain that my old RR doesn't have any electronic tech, let alone keyless entry, but most companies are just treating all RRs the same. The fear of insurance problems are probably why old RRs are such good value at the moment.

@@furiousdriving It is worth changing all the fluids if he is intending keeping it but at that price and mileage it is a question of waying up how much you do. Ball joints wear out both front and rear but are cheap to do. The airsuspension may not necessarily be a disaster but you may need to get it diagnosed.Be careful which LR independant you go to as quite a few are rip off merchants in the Kent and Sussex area. I can wholeheartedly recommend Cyril Groombridge just outside of Heathfield if you do need specialist help.

@@furiousdriving That's great, definitely ignore the AS warning. Turn off the steering wheel auto lift function, it just wears out the (plastic) gears!

Would the P Scan I have work on this generation of Range Rover? It does the Freelander which is a year older, but this is a newer platform

@@furiousdriving I don't think pscan will work with any of it. You should probably check out Gap Diagnostics.

Wheeler Dealer's did up a L322 Range Rover, that had an air suspension fault, which I seem to remember as being quite an easy and cheapish fix,, I'm not saying this car has the same fault, but it's worth a look, looks a decent car when it's deblinged, you didn't open the rear doors to see how the rust traps are doing

Yeah I've seen that episode and it was the air compressor in the engine bay, worn piston ring. Not sure if you can get a replacement ring as Edd bought a 2nd unit.

Furious & friend will now be able to join the L322 owners club with Matt the Range Rover bore , their is definitely an L322 with more miles on it . But for a grand remove plate run it until MOT due and scrap it that has to be worth the £1000.

Won't 12 months road tax cost more than half the purchase price?

Probably not, diesels put out less co2 than petrol cars, so road tax will be lower. However, the big petrol engined cars are ulez compliant and this era of diesel is not
