man, that reminds me of my uncle and my step-grandad (my dads and uncles stepdad). they two were avid fisherman. They couldnt sit calm if they had free weekend. If they had longer weekend off together, both of them would be gone and return only after few days. Their fishing gear took most of their garages. My uncle was really devastated when my grandad died. Both of them have travelled to lot of different lakes in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and finland.

I know some people who for specific reasons never married but in their minds they are. Usually related to Social Security benefits and being Deaf. Its usually better to be separate than married, you get more benefits esp with kids.
