My Gameweek 01 FPL Team Reveal

In this video I show the players that I am currently intending to play for Gameweek 1 (GW1) in the FPL for the 2024/2025 Season. I intend to chase team value early on, so my squad is a little different to other manager's teams.
Most FPL Content Creators are aiming to finish in the top 10k or better, but to win a mini-league at work or with family, you do not need to aim so high or work so hard ... just make sensible transfers and captain-picks throughout the season.
I am not affiliated with any of these, so no kick-backs for me ...

I did have him in my own team for a while, but I am not sure whether he starts and gets at least 60 minutes, but in a few weeks he will probably make it into the system. For now I am considering popular players (as these are the ones that hurt your rank when you don't have them), Calafiori is currently 2.6% owned, so even if he get 15 points it won't hurt ... Mr Mule, your strategy is certainly interesting. I'll be watching your [decline] rapid rise through the ranks. Juat wondering why your mini league could not just have been renewed and why we have to have a new league code? PS Best of luck for GW1...

Interesting strategy. Very aggressive. I love how different this could make your team from the template, for the initial 8-10 games. Have you considered perhaps dropping Gordon and Isak for much lower owned players? Just a thought but I'm thinking that if you have lower ownership players then there's a bigger chance of multiple price rises within a week because there's a larger number of FPL players potentially buying them, if they do well. It also somewhat guards against value being lost because there's less people jumping off a low-ownership player than a more template pick like Isak and Gordon. It could also give you much more wiggle room to bring in any player you like because the low ownership players might be cheaper and therefore give you money in the bank to invest straight away without taking too many hits. Perhaps someone like Zirkzee and Amad have a high chance of doing well, are low ownership, play a lesser team, and have lower prices so could theoretically get a couple of big boosts in value within a week if they did well against Fulham, for example. Just an idea, anyway. Welcome back, MM! Looking forward to seeing what you do this season.

I agree that low-owned players have more chance to go up in price, but I think NEW v SOT has a good chance to be high-scoring, so the players may go up anyway. I think there may be more price rises in GW2 and GW3 than GW1 ... so GW1 may just be hits and the WC in GW 2 or GW3. I may be very exposed for not having LIV players, but I just need to accept that the first few weeks will be bad ranks for me ... whatever happens, hopefully the ride will be fun 🙃

@@MidnightMuleFPL If you're after price rises, I think no Liverpool is the way to go. They have the best early schedule, so I can only assume they'll be amongst the most highly owned players and conversely the most highly sold. There's also, I assume, going to be a bit of a psychological bias towards holding transfers the first few weeks, because of the new rules, so we might see a lot of the most highly owned players not getting sold, even if they underperform, because people are so desperate to try and accumulate 3-5 rolled transfers. I'm not sure how such a phenomenon would impact your strategy and whether it would make it even more of a value builder or not..... Something to ponder, perhaps? Good luck with it though. I look forward to seeing it evolve. Sounds like it will be a wild ride, either way.
