🟢WATCH *Broken Spring on Garage Door Repair // Plus Installing Safety Cables* kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4rbnJ2geb2om6M

I just repaired mine. Previously, I had tried everything, all the common recommendations such as the ones in this video. Still jerky, I took a closer look at the operation. Released the drive and manually operated the door. It seemed very smooth… Re-engaged the drive and did short up/downs while looking for a problem. The drive shaft track from the motor to the wall above the door was wiggling! It was loose at the wall above the door. Aha!!! Released the drive, realigned the bracket and tightened it back down. Back to normal operation! Hooray! 😁👍 A little preventative maintenance goes a long way!

Unbelievable! Thanks. My door was doing the bounce/jerk dance for months so I greased every joint I could find. Still didn't help. I then noticed one of my springs was stretched out and figured that must be the problem so I replaced both springs but it was no better! I then saw your video and greased the only two areas I hadn't done, the upper pulleys. Fixed the bounce/jerk dance!

I could not believe that you were right. The top two pullies were gone or at least all the balls were gone. Thank you so much for such a good video.

Have had a problem for a while with my door bouncing and not closing properly. Knew it wasn’t the opener but had no idea what the issue was. Stumbled upon this video and the issue was fixed in 10 minutes. Two new pulleys at the top and the door is smooth again. Thanks!

My garage door was in worse shape…shaking, almost binding (when lowering). I’d greased rollers up one side and down the other these past two months. Saw your video, shot some white lithium grease at each pulley as you advised. FIXED MY DOOR IMMEDIATELY!!! Thank you for posting this video!

Had the exact same issue w bucking garage door, saw your video, used spray white lithium grease - helped a lot! However, our garage door installer then told me white lithium will collect dirt and gum up over time, he recommended Liquid Wrench spray penetrating oil instead. Clopay also makes their own lubricant, which I think is similar.

Thanks I will keep that on mind next time. 😊

He's not wrong because I used white lithium grease meant for garage doors and I live in a wilderness type of area and it collected a lot of crap 😂 I'm going to clean them and respray. But I'm sticking to lithium I'll just have to maintenance them

Thanks for the video! My friend's door (side mount springs) does not close evenly. About an inch. This is just recent. I'll check all the related gear.
@l337pwnage3 ай бұрын
Don't forget all the door hinges and the pulleys on the springs. The pulleys on the springs are probably exactly the same, so you could check play in them to see if they wobble more than the railed mounted ones. That might show a difference in wear.
@tapeexperiments Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Your video helped me figure out that my issue was the pulleys. Mine was jerking so bad, it would not close 60% of the time. ( I had checked sensors, lubed everything else already- did not help) I lubed the 4 pulleys, ( 2 each side) with motor oil that I had in an oil can sprayer and it's SMOOTH again.👍👍👍

I have a 9ft door that does this. I replaced all of the rollers and lubed everything. It still does the walking. Thinking it may be spring tension. What would you suggest?

@nickmillican43416 ай бұрын
Would regular WD40 be ok in the pulley?
@l337pwnage3 ай бұрын
I would say no. If it's all you got, it's better than nothing. WD40 is not a lubricant, but it can soften existing grease and help it flow. Buy some actual lubricant when you get a chance.

Those are not pulleys at the hinges, they are rollers.

Don’t use lithium grease for garage door. It will cake up. Use silicone.

Those are wheels, not "pulleys." A pulley guides a rope, cable, or belt.

@@GettingItDoneRepairs just learned they are "rollers," so I'll have to stop making comments. Thanks for the video. I didn't even think to check my spring cable pulleys. (I hope they are pulleys - LOL)
