would love to see a post-hike gear load-out if you're interested in doing one.

Subbed. Great video. I like your approach to medium lightweight gear. Interested to see how things workout.

I also always use ear plugs when camping, I wear them every night regularly as well. Some might think it’s crazy or too risky, but I’ve never had any issues

If you don't want to take one of those little mini-air pumps for the sleeping pad, you can use a pack liner to inflate the pad. Multi-use gear FTW!

Thanks for showing your gear :) I plan on thru hiking the AT in 2025 or 2026 and it's nice to get an idea of what other people are taking.

I would suggest taking those tights that you are wearing. You’ll need something more than wind pants. Timber ‘22.

Yes! One of the few people on KZbin who know how to correctly pronounce the trail name. It’s Appa-Latch-An, not, Appa, Lay, Chan! Hike on brother.

I might have missed the hike (I hope it went well), but for future ones, if you are tired of inflating your air mattress, you can look into a "BlockerLite Pump Sack." They also double as gear storage. 👍

Sometimes it's nice to camel up before camp, consider a CNOC bladder for dirty water

Best of luck on your thru hike 👍 It's an amazing experience. Just keep walking and know if your dealing with misery it will change - just keep pushing through and you will get there. Highly recommend Early Risers book "Pushing North" (also available in audio version) - it was a big help to me along with some of his great post trail AT videos. Not that your looking for suggestions, but...for that Folio Pillow - I love that pillow...weekend trips I take the pillow case but for the AT I removed the pillow case as an easy way to shed some weight...worked great :). In the beginning during the bubble - call ahead a few days to plan hostel stays (I learned the hard way in the beginning). Enjoy and have a great time.

I had some bright pink dirty girl gaters, and I had to give them away. They made me dizzy. :D some hints about the bidet.... It helps with the hiker skank, sometimes there's that not wanting to use the water .... it's possible to use leaves or so and then find the requisite distance away to clean up near a water source. The problem with just using leaves is monkey butt that will happen.

You might want to have some waterproof cover over your gloves. Lots of freezing rain on the AT.

A frameless tiny pack for a 17 pound base weight seems to me a bit much. You should probably consider getting the Gorilla if you want to be comfortable for the AT.

Pretty nice setup. However those things you're calling microspikes are for walking down your driveway to get your mail, not for hiking. Get yourself some Kahtoola's like everyone else.

First I've heard of someone gaining weight intentionally before a long hike. 🤔

I gained 35 pounds pre-hike and lost 55 total. Weigh 190, started at 225 and finished at 170. Norovirus hit me hard in Virginia. Nice to have a margin of error. Timber 2022.

@@timlewis6144 ehh... The 35lbs 'fluff' weight likely fell off quickly since it's not weight you normally carry. You just carried the extra 35lbs up and down the mountains for no reason until it was gone. I think being in the best shape possible pre-hike is better advise. But, hey if you finished... that says a lot. Congrats!
