It's nice to see you more or less complete on Genesis now James. It was the first band I was complete on in my vinyl collection, so that tells you how much I love Genesis. I like what you said about 11:30 in about the different era's of Genesis, very well said and I agree with you. Nice recap of your collection mate, and I look forward to some more reviews as you go along of these records.

Great. Collection. Two small corrections tough, 1) A Trick of The Tail was released before Wind and Wuthering, despite the fact that they were released the same year. 2) after Phil Collins left it was just Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford. Gabriel left in 1975. Steve Hackett in 1977 and Phil Collins in 1996, leaving only Tony and Mike to carry on. They tried, wasn’t successful and broke up the band shortly after

Awesome Genesis collection. I love Genesis also. I have made a few Genesis videos on my channel showing my collection and the remix box sets from Genesis. Give that look when you have time. My favorite Genesis albums are Trick of the Tail, Invisible Touch, and Abacab. But like you, I love them all. I even like Calling All Stations ....lol Great collection video !!

A Trick of a Tail released in February / March1976 and Wind and Wuthering October/ November 1976. Steve Hackett left the band during the mixing of Seconds Out mid to late 1977 to go solo. Phil Collins left the band after completing the We Can't Dance World Tour 2003?. If you're a dedicated new Genesis collector then pick up a copy of Genesis Turn It On Again, The Illustrated Genesis Story. Published by Omnibus Press 1983/1984 paperback. Hope this help's.

Love your taste... you seem like a pretty cool guy judging by seeing your videos. Genesis are my all time favorite band too... “Suppers Ready” being my favorite song (I do find Foxtrot to be a masterpiece... if I were you, I’d revisit that again until it really sinks in). I’m not the type to say that I only like this era and only like that era, myself, as both created amazing music. However, the period in which Steve Hackett was in the band (which I should let you know that he left after W&W in 1977, and he is not on CAS, that’s Mike Rutherford) is my favorite. Steve replaced Anthony Phillips in 1971 and was there until the mixing of Seconds Out (which means he was there for the peak Gabriel years and the beginning of the Collins years). I love the later period too but I couldn’t put WCD Or IT up against Foxtrot or Selling England - being my favorite Genesis album overall... but I do agree with you. All Genesis music had this sense of intelligence, which a lot of music in the 80s reaaaalllyy lacked. Their music overall I found to be very intelligent and fun... so I do agree with you on that... and if you like the early style of Genesis, you should try out Steve Hacketts solo work... as well as his Genesis Revisited projects. His first album was just after Gabriel left in 1975 (titled Voyage Of the Acolyte) and is still out making new records today. He is now currently 25 albums in... and he’s not slowing down anytime soon. In fact, I’m going to see him in just over a week. Met him 3 times already and meeting him for a fourth. Extremely nice man and fantastic musician... often overlooked by the other giants in the band but I do highly suggest his solo stuff as well. Cheers brother... keep on rocking, my friend.

really enjoyed your take on Genesis. I agree on most parts but i myself, think foxtrot is a great album. (but we are all aloud our opinions, makes things more interesting). Thought what you said on TLLDOB was spot on, almost great album, cursed with filler tracks. Also 100% agree on what you said about the Gabriel departure. If he stayed though the 80's i think they may have crashed and burned. Many early die-hard fans would argue it to the death but i think it took its natural course and although i do generally prefer the Gabriel albums, Collins did a sterling job keeping the ship afloat. Great vid!

Hi James, I loved watching you show your Genesis collection. I love Genesis also. I started collecting them back when Duke first came out. In fact, Duke was my first Genesis album. After that I went backwards and collected everything I could on Genesis. I remember those Charisma labels very well, but those albums are no longer with me. I have re-purchased them, but the labels are just plain Atco labels. I think Genesis as a whole transitioned very well from the late 60's into the early 90's. After Phil left, I lost interest. I didn't think the song "Congo" was too bad and Ray Wilson was a decent singer, but I think Genesis as a band had a good run. They put out a very nice catalogue of music, but when Phil left, Genesis should have ended there. That's just my opinion. Great video, James! Take care! -Maria:)

Great collection! Genesis is my favourite band and I'm trying to get them all on vinyl as well. Got them all on regular cd and 5.1. just a couple of corrections, if I may: the original Revelation DID come with the Genesis word on the american cover. And the first step with Phil Collins leading the band is A Trick Of The Tail, not Wind & Wurhering. they were both released in 1976, so I can see how it can be confusing. Anyway, awesome collection. congrats!!!

Good video it's interesting that someone so young is interested in genesis, as they are usually considered to be popular with the older generation! I personally just like the gabriel period genesis cos i'm a huge prog fan, i thought that they lost something when he left like a lot of character and personality! By the way the absolute original pressings of both "trespass" and "nursery cryme" come with "pink scroll" record labels not "mad hatter" ones! (Although these are incredibly rare and will probably cost you a bomb!)
@stevehopkins14516 жыл бұрын
Nice to see you have a good collection. The matte sleeve of Genesis Live is the rarer version. But you mentioned Seconds Out has the hatter label, which as far as I know doesn't in its U.K. form anyway. Keep up the collecting.

@@CygnusRoc how isnt there more outrage on this bloke. I expected there to be war in the comments section considering this guy considers Invisible Touch a masterpiece and foxtrot average. I mean how could this guy have such lowly taste in music and then have the bollocks to do a review of all Genesis albums. Doesn't he realise that 80's Genesis is absolutely hammered on forums everywhere?? And the Peter Gabriel era is considered life changing to people

If you play the greatest hits 2cd you will realise it is too poppy Collins turned them into his backing band. Flaming youth was crap. Collins has done some good stuff but Genesis suffers for his art..
