haha it may seem savage but snakes don’t actually possess the same level of parental care as some other animals. Their instincts are primarily driven by survival instincts. The mother snake typically exhibit maternal instincts towards their live offspring, ensuring their survival and protection. Infertile eggs hold no reproductive value to them and yes it is also better to have the fertile eggs as food source for other reptiles. and this also actually keep the live ones safer from potential attacks from other animals and insects. Jay, quickly question. Do you candle the slugs just to be sure? Also, do you candle the fertile eggs to make sure you have them right side up? I sometimes think you have flipped a couple. Just wondering. She is gorgeous. Just wish she stayed small.

Hey there friend! Love these questions. Here’s the thing, candling can possibly disturb the delicate balance of the egg and potentially harm the developing embryo if note done carefully. For ensuring the eggs are right side up, we try our best during the incubation process to position them correctly. If we notice an upside-down egg, we do make sure to adjust it gently to the proper position. 🐍💚🖤🐍💚😁❤️
