@iridescence That's true but, I guess according to the bees, they felt he deserved to suffer from their stings because he was the one who knocked their home off the tree branch and once they saw him after he knocked down their beehive, they must have said "it's him, he's the one who knocked down our home, lets sting him for revenge" and I'm sure once he died, the bees died next to his dead body.

@@afriendofbean Bees die immediately after stinging. This is because their stinger is a part of their digestive system and it ruptures as soon as they sting it breaks off and it kills them after they fly away.

@@Father_of_Death Actually I learned the reason bees die when they sting is because when a bee stings someone, they are digging their stinger inside the persons skin and then when they are going to fly away, their stinger is stuck in the persons skin causing themselves to rip their stingers off their bodies which rips out their intestines causing them to die. However, they don't die right away because after a few seconds they will continue to fly and then soon fall to the ground and die. I remember seeing a dead honey bee on concreate which must mean it stung someone and then died.

I think what's also really sad about this scene when Thomas J asks Vada if she'll think of him was that this was the moment we see Thomas J grow up. He starts to develop feelings for Vada even though before this scene, he acted like romance was gross. But after that kiss, it helped him grow up a little which gave him the courage to find that ring.

No other film has had such a big impact on my psyche as this one. This was my first dramatic romantic movie that I watched, when I was 8 years old in 1992. I remember that I spent 1 month just thinking about the movie, traumatized. 😅

Even though this part of the film is very sad, the rest of the movie is a really lovely feel good movie. It’s actually very therapeutic and it helps with healing traumatic memories. Xx

My sister and I were totally traumatized when the poor little kid died ! We've always been afraid of insects (I'm 22 and I still am) so it made it even more scary :( but that was a beautiful movie, it's just that this scene was so sad.

@yjwonnie I'm sure Vada would have married Thomas J. but, she was more in love with her teacher Mr. Bixler wanting to marry him (which she said here) and Thomas J. asked if she doesn't get to marry Mr. Bixler if she would think about marrying him. However, once she found out that Mr. Bixler was already getting married to someone else, she would have gone to propose to Thomas J. but, that changed after he died.

@Sierra Bomer Actually, Vada was more interested in marrying her teacher Mr. Bixler which she said here and Thomas J. asked her if she doesn't marry Mr. Bixler if she would think of him which she said "I guess" meaning he will be her next choice. Overall she had more of a love for Mr. Bixler than Thomas J.

@@californiacargo18 I know but, Vada had more of an interest in her teacher Mr. Bixler than Thomas J. and she found Mr. Bixler more handsome than Thomas J. and if she found Thomas J. more handsome, he would have been her first choice and it's unknown if she really was interested having Thomas J. her second choice where she might have only said "I guess" just to make him feel good. Then when Thomas J. died (now that her second choice was gone), she decided to run over to Mr. Bixler's house to want to propose to him where she told him that she wants to live in his house with him.

I just watched it on DailyMotion for free! If you go onto the website/app and search “My Girl 1991” that’s the full movie. There are Arabic subtitles but this seems to be the best way to watch it. Whyyy did they take it off Netflix 😞 It’s such a good movie. I cry every time lol

I don’t know what was worse to see- Macaulay’s character stung by bees, or his character falling to his death in the ocean, in The Good Son. I think it was The Good Son, since his character looked innocent, but very evil and savage, at the same time. He deserved that death, there, but certainly not the bees, here.

Instead of his glasses falling off in slow motion from 3:41-3:45, maybe it should have shown him falling to the ground and dying in slow motion which would have made more sense than seeing his glasses falling off. Either way, it was still sad to see him die and instead of him dying, it should have been Vada's grandmother whom she calls Gramoo being the one dying since she was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.

While Vada was very sad that Thomas J. died, she could be at least half happy that Thomas J. won't be around to tell anyone that they kissed on the lips even though they made a promise to each other not to tell anyone.

Even though this movie is all about life and death, it should not have been Thomas J. who died since he was a main character and Vada's best friend. The best one who should have died on this movie was Vada's grandmother that she calls "Gramoo" since Gramoo has Alzheimer's Disease on this movie and looks more close to death especially Gramoo didn't feel too much of a main character on this movie with her hardly talking and whenever she was with the family, she was very still like a statue. Not only that, when they had the funeral for Thomas J. she didn't attend the funeral but stayed alone in a room sitting in a rocking chair. Especially she wasn't even on the second film but was only talked about by Shelley when Shelley said "Gramoo is passing" where if Gramoo was the one who passed away on this movie, Shelley could then say "now that Gramoo has passed away, Vada could move into her room and the new baby could move into Vada's room."

As I said that I won’t say it again, I like your idea of what would happen if Thomas J didn’t die as it would have been Gramoo instead. The best cause of her to die is to become ill in bed. While the beekeeepers take care of the bees as Thomas J goes home.

Gramoo should have died instead of Thomas J. since she was more of a troublemaker (she got Vada in trouble in one scene when Vada had to go to the bathroom after Vada told her to stay in the room but she didn't listen) and she looked more like a statue whenever she was in a scene. Yes, that could be one good way for Gramoo to die where she dies while in bed where she dies of old age since she was a senior citizen woman (I remember earlier in the movie Harry told Shelley that after his wife died that Gramoo moved in to help him take care of Vada but it sounds like over the years Gramoo was developing problems of her own and had difficulty being a help towards Harry for Vada where Vada was the one who then had to help her). Also yes, another good way for Thomas J. not to die is as soon as he finds the mood ring, he looks up and says "oh no, they're all coming out, I better run away out of this woods and give this ring to Vada" (I guess if he doesn't succeed in finding the ring, maybe he would feel he would try again later or the next day) where he returns the ring to Vada and tells his parents about the beehive in the woods where his parents call the neighborhood district who call beekeepers where Thomas J. leads them to the woods where they kill the bees and get rid of the beehive.
