My ex-husband dated a woman for a few months when she stated she thought they should buy a house. Her credit was so bad, the two of them couldn't get a loan. So she suggested he apply for the loan himself, and put the title of the house in both their names. I told my ex there is no way he should agree to that! He re-applied for the loan, solo, and was turned down. She was so upset they couldn't get the house, she broke up with him. He dodged a bullet. Sounds like this caller is dating her now.

It's in the nature (not always say either gender acts on that nature) of a woman to seek a man for resources. A means to an end - his wallet. Men use women for sex/sexual reproduction - that means to an end. While it's natural for each gender/sex to have this desire, it's wrong to act on it and it's wrong of the law to indulge the baser parts of each natures through family courts. A marriage should not be a convertible annuity. There's also some truths regarding female and male nature Chris Rock does a GREAT routine on. A woman cannot go backwards financially. The best woman can't do it. A man cannot backwards sexually. This woman cannot and will not ever ever live in a small apt or trailer til something better comes along. Can't do it. Even if she was teh BEST woman. They just can't. She'll be clawing the walls and will do ANYTHING to get out. Let her go.

We have no idea how long they’ve been dating, should she just indefinitely date a man and not set healthy expectations or boundaries ? He openly admits they currently live in a nice area and she makes good money. I think it’s crazy how this woman we have no idea anything about is seen as a red flag vs a grown man who calls a radio show because he can’t sit down and have an adult conversation with a woman he’s interested in being married to. Sometimes men don’t have the same values as a partner. That’s ok. He needs to communicate that to her. I live in an area where the average home is a million dollar knockdown (gut it and start over). I make great money and pay $3000/month in rent but a mortgage would be $5000-8000/month. Someone who bought a house during the crash in 2008 would pay what I pay in a mortgage. If I said I am debt free, when we get married I want to live in the same area, I make 6 figures and he makes 6 figures … is that unreasonable? If a family home is expensive in the area and she doesn’t want to move? It sounds like he is immature and wanting to demonize a woman publicly instead of sitting down and having a conversation… and this random woman has the red flags? Yikes

@@ilai7893 but that’s from his perspective. A woman who is excited to get married, make a home and probably have kids will want to create a nest. If I was dating a man in an expensive area I would absolutely want to know his plan for when we are married to have a family home. The caller is talking about the property but we are assuming she’s a gold digger… instead of asking why does she want to buy a house vs stay in the condo. He openly says she earns a good living and if it’s not the amount they’re think he says “she will want a number and I don’t know what to tell her” not that she will leave or flip out. I live in an expensive area with million dollar knock downs. If my partner had a condo I’d rather have a house and yard to raise my family BUT not at the expense of leaving the area I’m in. We don’t know what her feelings are except his interpretation is he can’t afford her…. We didn’t hear a single number. If he said: I bought a condo for 100k and it’s now worth 500k, I only earn 75k and she earns 250k. She wants to buy an 800k house but I can’t afford that! We could see that’s a situation that could be resolved. We don’t know anything based on actual numbers. It’s all this man, who called a financial radio show to complain his future wife is too expensive, without any facts. He could easily say “hey, I know you want that 800k house but let’s wait 2-3 years into marriage to buy that house” Or “if you want the 800k house you need to put half the down payment” We don’t know if he’s debt free or she’s debt free. We don’t know what either of them make. How much equity is in the condo and how much the house she’s looking to buy. This was easily one of the laziest calls and shows you why Dave matters. If she wants to "negotiate" to keep putting him in a worse position now, she'll do it in the future. That's not how a marriage works. You lift each other up. You don't keep the other down as you get what you want. Also, it's a house now. Next it's a car. Then it's another new car a few years later. There aren’t any numbers in this call. It’s a bad call. We don’t know their situation. We don’t know if she’s debt free making 6 figures. We don’t know how long they have been dating and if marriage seems appropriate. I’m shocked at how many men want to string a woman long who is marriage minded. If marriage is important to her it’s perfectly acceptable for her to create a boundary. If she has a vision for her life that’s perfectly fine, he doesn’t have to. He openly admits she earns great money and his condo is in a nice area. We are taking his word without having any numbers. Is her idea of a house unreasonable or is he unrealistic? He bought his condo when prices were low in a nice neighborhood, sounds like she wants to stay in that area. It’s perfectly reasonable for a future wife (when married) to expect to sell a condo to buy a family home. It’s perfectly reasonable for her to say hey, we’ve been dating awhile and I’m looking forward to getting married. When we are married I want to stay in this neighborhood and raise our kids. I earn a great salary and this is what I want. We don’t know how much debt, how much income and what anything costs. Just the caller’s perception.

She's a girlfriend. When you're married, you can see what your income can afford together. If you buy a house before you're married, it only matters who is on the deed and mortgage which should just be you or just be her. Those properties are not split in a divorce. Someone asked me years ago why I didn't just buy the house she new I could afford. I bought a condo for 100K which is now worth 250K and rents for a profit while being hundreds less than units in the same complex. I bought my house second which was also a steal and very nice. Also he's putting words in her mouth. I bet if he sits down and has a conversation and explains why she will be able to work with him. He's building it up into this huge thing when they literally haven't had the conversation yet.

Sounds like he needs a new GF. He knows what needs to be done, and he doesn't want to do it. It's time to separate. If she wants a house, she better put up the money and get one herself. This man, he better not be a doormat.

Lol if you have to walk around eggshells in a relationship it's probably not a relationship that will last. He just called to try and make Dave into the bad guy and I have a feeling it's not going to work.

Never allow attraction to supersede alignment. People stay in relationships with people they are physically and emotionally attracted to at the cost of finding a purpose partner; someone who is in alignment with their values. If they are going to eventually marry, they will need relationship counselling and a clear vision of what marriage will look like for them as a couple. For some reason, everyone sprints past all the foundational conversations and starts looking at houses. First thing first!

I wonder if the caller has an inferiority complex. He knows he can't meet her demands and he knows she'll keep demanding. The best course of action is to dump her and get a woman who does not mind living in his current house.

Very simple solution dude, just dump the girlfriend, problem solved. Odds are she'll dump you anyway because it sounds like you're not one of the top 5 percent of earners in the US. She only cares about money and lifestyle, that's it
@Jim_Curtis Жыл бұрын
Hey caller, you can afford it by dumping her because she will make you go broke plus there is more than 50% chance she will divorce you. There are big red flags all over the place here.
