Random fun fact about this film. The shot of Chewie smacking the holo-chess table shows one of the creatures fizzle out and vanish with the impact. Back when they were filming the holo-chess scene in the original film, that was actually one of the creature models they designed for the shot, but it was dropped and broken before they could actually film it. This was their opportunity to finally include it and have a reference to it being broken originally.

I feel like I went into Solo with the right expectations. I was expecting a fun space "heist" type of film that wouldn't be anything incredible in terms of narrative but would be a good time with plenty of action and fun characters, and that's what I got! When in the Original Trilogy he seemed a experienced smuggler that grew being a bad guy that in the end becomes a good guy. Instead he´s a guy in love first (when he didn´t seem the type in the original trilogy, but ok), then an imperial trooper, then everything he has in New Hope happens in a week. This film felt really "meh" to me in the end.

@oxhine4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Holden and Jen! I'm really glad you enjoyed "Solo" because it's a bit overlooked. It's supposed to be a madcap hustle through the galaxy's seedier side. Originally, it was meant to be a trilogy but it suffered a negative backlash just from being released shortly after the controversy surrounding "The Last Jedi". I do hope they pick it up because it gets really interesting there at the end and I felt the cast had great chemistry! "Solo" is set 6-9 years after Episode III. During this period, Maul is no longer associated with the Emperor. Darth Vader is the current apprentice. Maul runs the Crimson Dawn criminal syndicate. His return to galactic affairs after surviving being cut in half by Obi-Wan is chronicled extensively in the animated "Clone Wars". The Imperial officer they bribed with coaxium didn't betray them in the opening chase scene on Corellia. Proxima's henchmen grabbed Qira before she could get across the checkpoint. The goons weren't able to cross beyond their jurisdiction and snatch Han, too, without running afoul of the Imperials. Jen, I was stunned that you blanked on who Lando Calrissian was! The man's the smoothest cat in the galaxy! The positive attributes of "Solo" are: -- a busload of talent including Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover and Paul Bettany -- a brash, swaggering turn by Alden Ehrenreich that captures Harrison Ford's spirit -- the first meetings of Han, Lando and Chewie -- an excitingly vertiginous mountain railway heist -- the wildly imaginative Kessel Run sequence in which young Solo achieves his claim to fame of making it in 12 parsecs while tangling with a space-borne leviathan -- a glimpse into the early Empire's pacification of resistant worlds -- the re-integration of Darth Maul into live-action with Ray Park reprising the role after the character's incredible return in the animated "Clone Wars" Han firing at Becket pre-emptively cutting him off mid-sentence was meant to rectify the digital alteration of having Greedo fire first upon Han in the cantina in Episode IV. That change made by Lucas to the Special Editions of the Classic trilogy still angers fans! Lol. Han is supposed to live a rough, dangerous existence and gallantly waiting to be fired upon first not only dilutes his character but is insanely reckless! Remember those golden dice because they will make a return appearance in "The Last Jedi"!

A lot of people trashed this movie without ever seeing it because they hated The Last Jedi. Some people had valid complaints, and didn't like Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo or how he got his name. Mostly, this movie was sabotaged by the "fans" who never gave it a chance.
@Angelus13AOV4 жыл бұрын
@@nmlxb6 If your first point was really the reason why then that makes no sense to me. I’m specifically bashing the people who had that opinion and not you, by the way. Personally, I hated The Last Jedi. It was the first and only Star Wars movie to this day where I couldn’t find ONE thing that I liked about it. For all the hate the prequels get I found a lot of them quite enjoyable. It was really only the Anakin/Padme scenes that I couldn’t stand. That being said, I was excited for Solo because I was always a fan of the character. That, and I always try to be open-minded with movies and TV shows. Because I went into it with no expectations and because I was so let down by TLJ, I ended up loving the movie. I didn’t enjoy it as much as Rogue One but as I said, Maul’s appearance just sealed the deal for me. I realized I got off track but in regards to your reply, that’s one of the many reasons on the long list of reasons, why I don’t consider myself a huge Star Wars fan nor do I make an effort to converse with other “fans”. Almost every single one that I’ve spoken to, with very few exceptions, have been annoying, toxic, moronic, gatekeeping douchebags. That’s why I feel that neither George Lucas nor Disney destroyed Star Wars. The so-called “fans” destroyed Star Wars.
