make sure your cigarette lighter fuse isnt blown. this is what powers the pcm. if this is blown it will not connect.

Yes I was in a VM. It used to work fine from there though. It is something to do with the USB 3.0 upgraded drivers, which are passed through the the virtual as well. I can still use it on my old laptop for now though. As long as I have the ability to use Tec2Win somewhere I am fine.

goto device manager and install the older usb driver that worked for it before, that should fix it.

I ran into a similar problem trying to setup my VCX SE scan tool to diagnose with using hacked GM Tech2win software. It never displays the MDI/USB selection to connect the to the Tech2Win emulator. I see you use a separate pc and installed techline connect to get software and drivers/firmware that would work to diagnose with your MDI clone. Could you explain why you opt to reinstall an older version of Tech2Win software vs using the updated software from techline connect? Does the update cause the Tech2Win software not to work? Also, is your version of Tech2Win from techline connect or personal copy?

Yeah I could keep messing around with the images and drivers and crap, but I am way too busy. I just signed on my 5th dealership to do there electrical diags today. I am super busy. This one even gave me a key and alarm code so I can come in and work at night after work. They had a car they had put 3 transmissions in. It still wouldn't shift right. Found shorted wires in harness and fixed in in about 30 minutes. They were like we want to use only you!

Do you know of a fix or a workaround fir 2001 montecarlo ss with no crank no start periodically? I’ve replaced the ignition switch, lock cylinder with key and installed a BCM with my vin programmed in it. Also the programmed BCM will not crank the car at all.

You will have to use SPS to do a relearn on the Theft Deterrent module(TDM), whenever you replace the BCM. There is no way to re-program the VIN in these older modules, so it will have the VIN of the original car it came out of, the TDM will have to learn that new VIN so it will start. There is an option in Tech2Win to learn a new TDM, I have never used it though because I had already purchased the VIN in SPS to program the new BCM or ECM with. You will also have to unlock the Radio with Tech2Win after this most likely. Here is a video I did on a 2002 that I put a new BCM in: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qabZhWuYm5ufi9k

But I would start by diagnosing the no crank no start. There is a fuse in the box on the drivers side that is Labled PCM Crank. Measure that with a test light and see if you are getting voltage to it when you get no crank. If you do the problem isn't PCM, BCM or Ignition Related. It is down stream of that. Starter Relay, wire to relay, wire to solenoid or a starter solenoid. The starter solenoid is the most common problem I have see on these.

@@FrugalPrepper2 I bought a BCM from a place called highway 71 auto parts that supposedly has a way to put my vin in the BCM. Even if the actually didn’t program my vin into it can’t I still do a relearn with the key on 10 min process? Man I haven’t found ANYBODY knowledgeable on this but you. Where are you located

Your keys are programmed into the TDM, and they stay programmed there. The keys are not in the BCM, but the TDM also has to have the BCM and ECM info in it. So basically the TDM says do I know this key, then I says do I know the ECM and do I know the BCM, once every body agrees the know each other, the ECM will turn on the fuel injectors and send start signal out to the starter. The only way I have done it in the past is to pay the $45 buy the VIN in SPS and then do a TDM relearn. As far as I know you cannot reprogram a VIN into a used BCM of this vintage, because Tech2Win will show it as Locked and SPS cannot upgrade software. So normally they ask for your VIN to pull you RPO codes and make sure the get a BCM with the same RPO codes. I am in Springfield, Ohio.

If you are going to make keys a cheap entry is an Autel KM100. If you want a programmer to do cars and keys get an Autel 608. We have 608's and 508's. I'm an automotive locksmith. We also have the KM100 but never actually use it. GM's are going to be an issue for lost keys without a code. Some guys use Lishi tools but we buy the codes using NASTF but that's an expensive option and not worth it if you aren't a locksmith.

Well, I normally keep blanks, but take them to a locksmith here in town to have him copy them. They can also look up the 8 digit number on GM and cut a new key if it was lost, but they charge more for that and will only cut them on there blanks which are more expensive. Normally I just get into programming keys in a situation like this. When I have to change out an ignition with one from a salvage yard and I need to reprogram the keys that came with the ignition.

@@FrugalPrepper2 The only way to get GM codes for locksmiths is NASTF so they are paying for them as well. I come from the old days we pulled GM locks which had the key code on them. Sure I am paid more on all these transponder keys but it's also a major pain in the ass. Some of these cars depending on the trim level can take up to 3 different fobs. Many are not interchangeable.

you figure out the issue yet. . Its not seeing the vcx nano right in tech2win. You should get an interface selection menu The Chinese tools aren't stupid but they do ship to the states.... Why make a video showing your ineptitude? For future reference with wonderful China chit. Use a junkyard laptop. Fresh win 7 or 10 64 bit. Follow the entire routine to reinstall vxmanagwr. Update firmware and license . Tech2win and then the patch. Get everything working.. open the clock and disable automatic time updates. once it does lock down the system. Install rollbackrx and lock the first image it creates. every 55 days change the date, rollback the pc and go again. Never ever update a China tool once its working. Use your good tool for j2534 if u need fjds, tech line connect etc. Trch2win must run on hardware it won't do a vm Gds2 will run in a vm. You can create a vm set it uo to not share the tine and make the vm nonpersistant as to lock that too.. keep the China tools in a date and update controlled sandbox bro.

Yes the problem is the pirate software does not work if you Laptop has USBC this is why I went to a laptop that is running regular USB ports and it works fine.
