A huge part of this issue is that a lot people have been making various excuses for bad behavior of violent persons for decades, without holding many of those who do bad things accountable for their bad acts. The news media, local activist groups, and many other sympathizers of the perpetrators have talked circles around this subject for a long time without offering realistic solutions, and this is the result. Now, a lot of those very same folks who were against taking action against violent perpetrators, are now demanding that something be done about it, even after all those previous years of protests and rhetoric laid against the very people who they now demanding to do something about the violence in their neighborhoods. You can't have it both ways, people. Communities need to be more active in fighting this and they should be helping the people who have been trying to fight this. Step up, make a difference, and be more active in your community. "It's none of my business" has been the motto for far too long.

I'm always puzzled when something happens and people ask... what will the government do, what will the landlord do, what will... someone else do? The question they should be asking is... what can I do? What can we do? When there is a hurricane or some other natural disaster people cry in the streets and ask where everyone is to help them... when it was their lack of preparation that landed them in that situation. Theres an old saying... lack of preparation on your part does not constitute an emergency on me. If you live in an area prone to hurricanes... you plan for a hurricane... if you live in a crime prone area... plan for that... act accordingly. People cry where are the police when things go sideways... then wanna crucify the police when they take the action YOU ASKED FOR... it's sad this young person lost her life... but these families dont appear shocked... it's not a new issue... and everyone was standing around waiting for someone else to fix this problem... that's not gonna happen... and especially these days... heal yourselves... heal your community's... I hope this is taken as food for thought... and those angered by it? Well... look in the mirror... you just found who's responsible...
@missdee51693 жыл бұрын
Most people want the police. Most people disagree with defunding police. You are only hearing the loudest people, not the majority of people. Have you ever heard people say how a certain area didn’t look like this 5 years ago, 10 years ago? This neighborhood looks completely from when I grew up? This area used to be nice? Or anything of that nature? You can’t control who moves in next door to you or who moves in down the street. These neighborhoods or areas don’t just go downhill overnight. The same could be said about the neighborhoods/areas that get better, it takes yearS. Yes, of course, people need to do more themselves or in some cases at least do SOMETHING. If this lady gets killed for speaking up or if her house gets destroyed then whatever momentum she got started will end that moment. She said she calls the police all the time, do they show up? If they show up and arrest someone then do they just turn around and gets released? Right now in Atlanta I bet they do. What do you think happens when they get let out? They can figure out who called or they can just assume, either way someone will “pay” for you calling the police. There are kids that ARE scared of going to jail, facing consequences, so it was what kept them controlled, now that threat is no longer there cause their friend/family member/neighbor/whatever got released. It takes more than just residents that want change to start causing change. Don’t forget that there are people in the neighborhood that don’t want change and it’s those people who are willing to do ANYTHING, including murder, to fight against this change. The people who do want change are good people and are only capable of good/positive actions.

No one is ever mad at them doing their job. You know, the job description that was read to them, and had to recite it as their allegiance to have the honor with obtaining a badge. The issue we have a problem is when they go outside that agreement they was sworn into, and become bullies and killers. That is a huge miscorrelation with what they are PAID to do under their oath, versus doing what the hell they want to do because they are protected under law to do how they feel without being sued personally. Their jurisdiction bear the cost. And we as taxpayers pay their jurisdictions in the form of taxes. So basically we are paying them to wild out with no remorse. For every effect, there is a cause. The city of Atlanta, as well as others of its size need to focus on the root cause of the spike of crimes, especially the ones within its control and influences. And providing better wages to police officers ain't it. Trust me, they are well compensated in other areas outside of their wages to keep the staff number fluid, and no shortages with new hires starting Police Academy to become officials. Most officers that stay on the force until retirement often can at early ages, if they took full advantage of their 457b, and retire with millions at their disposal and live comfortably. And its been proven adding more officers to crime infected areas does not work as plan with data to prove it.

I think the ATL need to bring back the “RED DOG SQUAD” that use to be back in the day in the 80’s and 90’s. Yea sometimes their police tactics were slightly extreme but, gangs, drug dealers and anyone else that committed a crime feared them! Them boys and ladies were the business!! #Red Dog we need ya back in the A !
@iamtrinamonae18653 жыл бұрын
No they don’t need to bring back the RED DOGS because a lot of them same officers was illegally doing things as well!! Atlanta and the rest of our country need officers with compassion towards the neighborhoods they serve. We have seen enough violence with police unjustified brutality. Now is the time to do things the right way and not continue to repeat cycles that was unseen before! Violence on violence doesn’t get us anywhere But in the same situation that the country is in now!
