Finally a report on actual towing near capacity. THANK YOU. I also noticed a WD hitch wasn't used yet the IG didn't look to be sagging in the rear.
@grenadier_exploringАй бұрын
thx a lot. the handling was really nice and it didn't sag at all. and that is the OEM suspension/springs.

My Grenadier spends 90% of its time towing tipper trailers, wood chippers, MEWPs and agricultural kit. It hasn’t missed a beat and makes light work even at full tow load. Will be interesting to see how everything wears like the engine, brakes and drive train. As my previous 2 from new defenders were suffering by 60k miles.
@grenadier_exploring11 ай бұрын
will be very interesting to see. keep me posted on that!!! as you can confirm, it feels like the grenadier is doing it effortlessly....we should know in a few miles/years

Very informative video. What is the height of the running boards from the ground. Love your videos. Lee in Socal

hi, thx a lot. the lowest poinst/lower side is at 40cm or 15 1/2 inches, the highest point/upper side at 48cm or 19inches.

Good video again Ingemar, fuel consumption i don't think was to bad, we have a small 3 half litre, Mitsubishi worktruck, which averages around 14mpg , pulling same weight. 😊 from Steve near Chester England 🏴 where the Roman's once lived.
@grenadier_exploring11 ай бұрын
i was actually surprised. also think it's not bad at all. was fun to drive as well

Are you using electric trailer brake, and if so what type ? Thanks for the video !
@grenadier_exploring4 ай бұрын
no, i am not using any additional brake. just the built in overrun brake.

Thank you for the excellent video and also for the unit conversions on speed and fuel mileage! I live near Seattle and have been researching the Grenadier, the fuel mileage is very good for such a large vehicle while towing. I have a 200 series Land Cruiser (5.7L petrol V8) and get only slightly better fuel mileage while not towing😂 I have test driven the Grenadier and my only hesitation for purchasing it is the outward visibility. I am 6’2” (183cm) with a tall sitting height (I was at the sitting height limit for US Air Force ejection seat qualification). I find I have to duck down to see the traffic lights at a stop and it feel a bit restrictive looking out the side windows. How have you found the view out the front and sides?
@grenadier_exploringАй бұрын
thank you very much. a very nice ride as well...like the V8 😉. The forward (upward) visibility at traffic lights is not good at all. I solved the issue with opting for the Safari Windows. That's where I see the lights in fact... You can clearly see that the downward visibility was in the engineers mind.

@@grenadier_exploring thank you for the reply. I’m seriously considering a Scottish white one. One of the few vehicles I’ve seen that looks great in every color! Lots of mountain roads and off roading wheee I live. Cheers🍻

the area around seattle seems to be great for a car like that!!! 🤩 the scottish white looks great 👍🏻

Did the trailer lift the back end of the Grenadier off the ground when you were climbing up the ramp? I notice that you edit those few seconds out 😅. My IW trailer has jack stands that swivel down in order to take the weight and stop it lifting the back of the vehicle, which is especially important if the handbrake only works on one axle and it isn’t on perfectly flat ground.
@grenadier_exploring11 ай бұрын
in fact it did start lifting the Grenadier in the back but i stopped going up and installed some stands (the trailer hasn’t got any). I stopped the time lapse and forgot to turn it back on 🙈🙈🙈. realised when i was already ON the trailer.
@hedydd211 ай бұрын
@@grenadier_exploring I guessed as much. Got the T-shirt LOL. It helps to have the centre differential locked for braking but always some stands are needed.

Hi did you do any reversing whilst towing as regards the bad turning circle on the steering? Regards Dave in the Uk
@grenadier_exploring7 ай бұрын
i did reverse but that was not caused by the turning circle. just had to donit during loading/offloading. with the wide trailer no problem. a nice feature: the rear pdc is turned off automaticaly when there‘s a trailer attached

For the fuel consumption, I noticed one of the trailer tyres 'looked' a little flat - maybe not correct pressure. If so, that may have a small impact on the overall performance.
@grenadier_exploring11 ай бұрын
I just saw what you mean! the trailer is parked on a little pothole. guess that's why the pressure looks low. actually i checked it before the trip and the values were good.
@hedydd211 ай бұрын
I guess that the running pressure for those tyres is 90psi/6.2bar. 90psi is what my similar Ifor Williams trailers run at and I check at least weekly or every time they are used if idle for more than a week. Visual check every time it is heavily loaded. I guess almost everyone who tows heavy trailers has a similar regime because nobody wants a burst
@grenadier_exploring11 ай бұрын
correct. also checked the temperature of the tyres every now and then. pressure was at 6.5 (acc. to the manual)
@hedydd211 ай бұрын
@@grenadier_exploring That’s 100psi for those who are not metric. These tyres are so small and pressure so high that they can lose quite a lot of pressure quickly with the slowest of leaks

What model of Massey Ferguson is that? The cab is not familiar in the UK although I suspect that it is a 200 series. French built model?
@grenadier_exploring11 ай бұрын
not sure where it’s build. it’s a 174 Alpine Version (wider track)

@@grenadier_exploring That’s not a model I’ve ever come across and I sold MF tractors for ten years.
