I've only recently started engaging more and more with spiritual communities online and although there's a big part of me that's glad for the resources I'm able to gain access to, I'm also. wary of the painstaking effort it takes to "weed" out problematic advice. I literally found your video right after a video titled something along the lines of "depression is your spiritual awakening" on my fyp. But as the saying goes in some tarot reading circles that I've decided to incorporate into my life, "Only take what resonates and leave out the rest" This way, even if someone I once really felt connected to is saying things that are wrong or misguided, I can choose to leave the advice out or sometimes even no longer seek their advice. You've made some really great points that everyone should keep in mind when seeking spiritual communities or guidance online!

You hit some nails on the head. Especially with bias and assumptions. Way too many times have I come across people taking a glance at my chart and being subjected to oversimplifications, unsollicited advice and being made to fit into these molds that are convenient for people's biased perceptions. It's paternalistic and genuinely problematic. One other complaint of mine is when the spritual community attributes negative experiences to spiritual reasons and unconciously deflects accountability, responsibility and self-improvement in that way.

Great video, I’ve been juggling with this. Astrology has always been an interest but until about a year ago, I really got into it to better understand myself and others. However, I never really share what I spiritually experience with Creator because it’s a personal thing but I definitely do not like when another spiritual person feels like they have a hierarchy in this particular practice. No one is above anyone, I’m a firm believer in that. I respect you for doing what you’re doing, sometimes you just gotta change it up for the better!

Someone had to say it, and you definitely said that!! Thank you for being brave enough to speak up about these gripes within the spiritual community. A lot of what you said really makes me think back on the encounters I’ve had myself and my past way of thinking. I’m glad we’re both able to grow this way😂

Thank you for this video 🙏🏻 and I am totally with you for the most part on your criticisms. I respect your honesty and it couldn’t have been easy for you to express these thoughts and put it on KZbin. I am spiritual myself and have been involved in many spiritual practices in the past years and what I find is there are many wolves in sheep’s clothing feeding their own egos. I use to do a lot of spiritual and Reiki healing. One of the biggest mistakes that many healers make is diagnosing, yet a healer is not a doctor regardless of how many super duper so called spirit guides they claim to have, don’t get me wrong I’m not suggesting that spirit guides don’t exist but many spiritual people can act and claim that they are special enlightened souls. It is easy for many people to get caught up into the glamour of spirituality to make them feel and give the illusion that they are special. As yourself I am very weary of others motives. Personally I love Eastern philosophy especially Buddhism , I am a Tai Chi instructor and love traditional Hellenistic Astrology.

Thanks for opening up this conversation. I wouldnt say a tarot reader saying "I hear..." is glorifying mental illness at all. Thats just what they experience. When I first started hallucinating (psychosis) I thought it was a spiritual awakening lool.

Thank you for this ❤ I think what you are sharing is so important. I think for me I am just doing my own kind of thing and it’s not for anyone else. I still love listening to videos about astrology and learning new things but I don’t really know if it’s something I would do for other people. I have a regular job that I feel lucky to have.

Yes😭 I’ve noticed that some “teacher” astrologers allow an environment of toxicity by creating hierarchy instead of learning of these placements. I understand there are more pop versions of everything and surface type of way that ppl express themselves in communities too. Ppl get an gry & arrogant when you ask questions or you’re a new learner🥹💔 Why can’t we have normal discussions? I’ve also noticed some ppl have been pushed out of certain circles due to this hierarchical need🫠

But I can see that you’re saying that ppl who know better should do better💔 I know you’re in a better place now, but I’m also sorry you’ve run into spiritual workers who were negligent and complacent. While I am learning about this stuff, I haven’t contacted an astrologer for things like that. But I have watched those quick tarot or random psychic videos when I was younger for validation😭😭😭
