I don't know if any one else caught onto what you did with this video, but I'm going to say it was brilliant! First of all, the title of this video made me curious enough to watch it, but then it turned into a full face video. You started by getting your face clean with the wipes, then priming your skin, to moisturizing your lips, then foundation, and so on.. all the while, you were telling us about these products that you find to be "canceled" to the general public - pretty much persuading us otherwise.. and at the end you lead us, the viewers with a full face beat. This was so smart, and authentic. Great job, Patricia.

My thesis was about mineral oil in cosmetic products (2018) and so far its not proven that its bad for you. It does not clog pores or do not cause cancer (oral intake) because they are highly purified when legally used in cosmetic products. In fact petrolatum (vaselin) is known for being the best at hydrating the skin/lips. Just so you know 😁😁

Tarte set themselves up for that fall last year. They cancelled themselves when they posted that one meme on their Insta making fun of the asian folk then turned right around the following year and nailed the coffin shut with that bs foundation line. Ion feel sorry for em. KVD is and has always been problematic, so I've never checked for her. Morphe keeps shooting themselves in the foot by working with Jaclyn and trying to get over on people. The rest I'm not as familiar with.

welp, cancel culture is sometimes necessary bc these brands (with their big networths and product creation budgets) were ignoring WOC esp. darker women for a long time, simply bc they were able to get away with it w/o facing any repercussions to their brand. Now that people have direct/instant platforms to call them out or “cancel” them, a lot more brands are paying attention and realizing that it’s NOT okay to alienate a big portion of beauty consumers, and that they need to do better or risk the overall success of their business. yeah there’s balance to everything but cancel culture feels more like a necessary evil that results in getting the improvements that are needed in the beauty community.

Never heard of By Terry, but her argument seems off. If it’s that expensive you can make a small batch and have it on hand for us🤔. I need more data to feel her argument is valid. How long did she have our colors, did she advertise well, was it a wide shade range, did she push them out to influences? So many things could have effected her sales results. I still love Vaseline and baby wipes. I use home made oils but in a clutch I’ll use Vaseline. Seals the pores and keeps the heat in, in the winter😂

By Terry created darker shades and realized that people of colour weren't purchasing their products. So, because the darker shades weren't selling, it ended up costing the company more than what they were making back in sales. Therefore, they took the darker shades off the market.

zig jag You’re missing the point. I wasn’t suggesting that my INDIVIDUAL purchase would “boost” her sales. I used myself as an example to demonstrate how poor her selection for darker skin tones is, which is prohibitive for prospective customers with darker skin. Myself and other WOC who are interested in luxury cosmetics could and would buy her foundations if there were suitable shades and undertones to select from in the first place. From a business perspective, it’s impossible to assess if women of color would buy your products when the shades are ashy, because they genuinely won’t match any of us.

The vaseline lip therapy or lotion, the baby wipes especially huggies one & done cucumber & aloe, and the bonding glue for lashes are all the bomb. Those are my staples in my kit.

I've come to realize that it's very hard to change opinions. Whether it's the seller or the purchaser. A lot of people are very set in their ways for whatever reasons. I dont like the views of some of these brands either, but I've come to see that nothing people can say will have an effect on how they run their show. I've started to just try to worry about myself and my skin and my wallet (as long as I'm not supporting child rapists). As much as I dont stand by the views of people, I do stand by my picky ass skin that breaks out and gets rashy when I touch it wrong.

People should be allowed to say their opinions whether approved or not. So many creators don't want to tell us what they actually like or what works for them because they are pressured to be quiet. It's okay not to like or support a brand (especially when you have a reason for it), but when it is to the point where they pressure other people into hiding what they prefer, then that's a problem.
