I enjoyed hearing your story. You are such an inspiration to me. I have given up on myself for many years now. I stopped wearing makeup & I just throw my hair up in a clip but seeing you has sparked something in me to take more care in the way I look. I have never worn a scarf but I absolutely love the look. I don't know where to start in wrapping my hair. I love all your videos & would like to see how you created your look in this video

Simply let's say that you give light smile and colours to our days.....I even don't remember when I saw you for the first time. I think from Wrapunzel.... But what I yes do remember is when I saw you at this diner fundraising party at #OneFamily Together home in Jerusalem ....I remember you coming in and I thought ''wouah what a beautiful class woman''. Even my husband who never ever see nothing around him just saw you and told me ''Did you see this women. I am sure you like her hair covering and the colours!''. You were in an explosion of brown and gold and orange....If you remember well as I was going through every table to speak with everyone about the Association, I told you right away, even not knowing you, ''of course you know it but I want to tell you that you are so beautiful. and you way to wear ''kissoui'' is so incredible....''. And since almost one year now that I look at youtube channels to learn how to wrap pashmina and saw you I know that I see you one time in really life. And I know from where.... My self I used to cover head only for praying....but since Tsouk Eytan I was so greatful to HKBH to get my 2 sons back from Gaza after the terrible moments we went through that I decided to cover my head for Shabbat and Holidays.....(don't do it for all the day because ''shalom bait'')....however you inspire me for wrapping....and colors.....thank you so much Leorah. For who and what you are......

Also what are the staples of the head covering? Meaning what does a person getting into this need to purchase first? Thank you!!

Thanks for sharing your journey with us. You always look so beautiful and I love your wraps so much. I hope that someday I can be as good at wrapping as you are. I'm still really new to wrapping. Just started last year. In my particular line of faith, covering isn't common. You just don't see Catholics wearing coverings when out and about. Sometimes super traditional Catholic women will wear a lace veil called a mantilla when in church (Mine actually looks exactly like the Dreamy Lace Scarf that Wrapunzel sells. I'm wondering if whoever sold it to me got it from the same manufacturer), but even that isn't common. We just don't do that. But I felt a calling from God that he wanted me to be doing something. It all started early last year when I was thinking about mantillas (which I didn't wear at the time but knew of), and I remembered that I had been given a knitted one from a close family friend when I was young. I had it because I was going to a camp where they required us to wear them in Church, but then it never stuck after that. I just left it in my closet to collect dust. But when I felt that calling from God last year, I remembered that old mantilla and I pulled it out and decided to start wearing it in Church. I was only one of two women in my church who wore one, but it felt so right. But it also didn't feel like enough. So then I started thinking about how the Virgin Mary and all other Biblical women would always wear veils on their heads, and that interested me so much. Why did they do this, and why did they ever stop? Some Jewish women still hold to the tradition. Muslim women still hold to the tradition. So why did Christians stop? And that began a whole frenzy on me researching online about headcoverings and Christian women who headcover. I watched SO many videos and read so many articles, it was crazy. And after all this researching, I finally came to the conclusion that God wanted me to be covering all the time. I didn't know how I should cover, but I knew I needed to do something. So I started small. I wore wide headbands and bandanas, and it felt great, but it still didn't feel like enough. But I stuck with that because I didn't know what people would think if I went further. But eventually I did strike up the courage to move forward. I started taking infinity scarves that I had and just sorta casually draping them over my head and then wrapping the rest of the scarf around my neck. That's when my family started to notice, but they didn't really say much about it. A really good friend of mine who is Muslim even gave me some of her old scarves, and I got a bunch more from Goodwill. The trouble came when I STILL didn't feel like I was doing enough with my coverings. So..... I tried wrapping a hijab. Yeah, a hijab. And it felt so amazing! This was it! This was what God wanted me to do! But my parents did NOT agree. They started freaking out. Especially my mom. They knew I was still a Catholic and I hadn't converted to Islam or anything like that, but they didn't like that I LOOKED like a Muslim. I got away with it for a couple months with constant explaining of how I felt God calling me to wrap like this and even pulling the "Mary wears a hijab, too!" card, but eventually it just blew up at me and my parents no longer allowed me to wear a hijab style of covering. They just couldn't handle it. And even though I knew God wanted me to do it, the Bible also tells us the honor our father and mother, so I fell back and stopped wearing a hijab style. Instead, I switched more to a tichel style, 'cause during all my research before, I had come across Wrapunzel and saw all the beautiful wraps these women were doing. My tichels were always so awful, though, 'cause I had no shaper and my hair was too short to really do anything to put volume back there, and I didn't have the money for a shaper. So, because of that, I couldn't get tichels to work for me. I found a way to wear scarves sorta like a veil for awhile, but I hated it because it just looked so weird. But I had to do it that way because there were no other options. Then, one day, I figured out how to DIY a shaper out of some old pantyhose and some pillow stuffing, and it worked! It was uncomfortable and slid off all the time, but it at least worked. So that let me go back to wearing tichels. I used that DIY shaper until I finally got a Wendy shaper from Wrapunzel a few months ago, and it got so much more comfortable to wear tichels with a real shaper. I've been getting a lot better with my wrapping, and can sometimes make some really pretty wraps. I've tried so many different wraps from the Wrapunzel youtube channel, and they're all so beautiful, but I just can't make them feel right on me. and that's where I am right now. Tichels just don't feel right for me. I felt so much more comfortable back when I wore hijabs. I felt so happy and free back then. I would wear them and never felt a problem with it. I would look in the mirror and I wouldn't see a Muslim like everyone else saw. I would see the beautiful early Christian women who came before me. But because of how the Muslims stole that from us, I can't wear a scarf like that anymore without it being a problem. I'm gonna start trying to move back towards wearing hijabs, but I don't know how that will turn out, considering how disastrous it was before. I hope things will be different now, though, since I've been covering for a longer time now. Please wish me luck and send prayers. I'm really gonna need it... Tichels are beautiful and I can really appreciate them because of my Jewish heritage (I grew up with a lot of Jewish culture because even though my mom converted to Catholicism, the rest of her family is still Jewish, so she's still very in tune with that part of herself), but they just don't feel right for me. No matter how hard I try, I can't feel beautiful in a tichel :'(

Wow, what an amazing journey. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I have never tried to wear a hijab, that is such an interesting concept. Just like you, my environment wouldn't let me get away with it, I guess. But I'm so proud of you that you actually let yourself feel what is the perfect thing for you. Let God prepare your family so you can go back to where you feel home. Maybe the reaction will really be different now since you have been wrapping a longer time now and they are all used to that part at least. I sure will be sending my blessings and prayers to you. You are amazing! 🌺

Dear Leorah: Thank you for this tour of your personal journey. ENGLISH LESSON: 1. That knitted thing that keeps something (an egg, tea, etc.) warm is called a "Cosy" (CO'-zee) at least in England and some parts of the US. 2. "Scrunchie" is the correct term. Love this outfit. The simplicity is perfect in juxtaposition ("the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect") to your narrative. Suggestion to your square scarf dilemma, send them to your local hospital as a donation for cancer patients.

@@LeorahHallelGoldberg Although I am Jewish, I do not speak a word of Hebrew beyond rote memorizing a few prayers and songs.
