I decided to buzz my hair to take control of my life. It got a lot worse before it got better, but shaving my head was the first step on a long journey. I wanted to be pure, raw, bare. I wanted to renounce vanity. Find my self. It has been a massive lesson.

Damn dude. I was honestly a bit surprised that nobody in public made weird comments towards you. You are super gorgeous tho. I shaved my head 3 or 4 times, separately, a few years back. Anytime I had it buzzed, people ALWAYS found ways to comment on it. Comments with disdain, and a disappointed face "oh you were pretty with long hair". For that reason, I've lost the confidence to do it again. I never knew random people would pay so much attention, and it made me so uncomfortable, especially when showing my ID. I'm happy to hear that people didn't bother you about it.
@hrianna52112 жыл бұрын
Honestly same I shaved my head throughout the ages of 15-20 but I was tired of the rude and passive aggressive comments so I decided to grow back my hair long and now I don’t have anyone questioning my ID anymore too. I did have people love it but mostly everyone hated it including my mom the most. The first two years of my buzz cut I tried not to care what people think but I was tired of people commenting on my head. Some kids and teachers would come up and slap it at school too or rub my scalp. That’s why I just keep my hair long now because I don’t have the confidence to rock a shaved head anymore and I lost the confidence as well. I care about what others think too much and the constant harassment at school was just too much for me.

Buzz cutting my hair off has been quite an experience, I love it really. I would have never thought of doing this as iv always been so adamant on growing my hair long. But I felt like it was like an identity cleanse. I needed a new start to my image on the out side after iv worked on my inner self for 3 years and my outer image just didn't match up to that and everyone else still saw me as I was before. Honestly I feel renewed, I feel like iv been given a clean slate to introduce myself as a new person in every way. Also I love the feeling of my hair brushing on my hands it's so nice. And it's so easy to care for. It's very stress releaving and saves so much time especially being a mom of three boys so live is abit hectic. People keep saying how brave I am for doing it but I don't feel like it was such a big event, ok maybe it is to people that wouldn't dare to cut their hair off but it just felt necessary for me and I did alot of homework before I did it to be sure I wasn't going to regret it. I did it on the 1st of Jan 2023, so it's been a month and I'm still loving it so much. Really it's very liberating and a sense of freedom. I dare women to atleast do it once in their life, to experience the feeling. 💗

On Reddit, I read a post from a young woman who was expecting hair loss, and wondering how to cope with it. The responses were really uplifting and kind, but I'm guessing that she would have felt much better if she saw this: a firsthand experience with genuine positive feedback, and not just people saying nice things about the idea. Granted, it's not quite the same thing, but it still says volumes (pun unintended).

I've been bleaching my hair for 2 years now, I've been getting it done by a professional each time, recently I changed my hairdresser and she totally fried my hair in doing so. So basically had to buzz cut it, I'm very excited about my natural hair growing back, this time I won't dye it nor bleach it. Ever again

hi, i don't know if you still read comments but if you're still struggling with greasy hair i recommend working your way up to washing it less frequently! daily washing makes your scalp produce more oil in the hours that you're out of the shower because it doesn't get a chance to balance out it's own natural oils, thus the body reads it as dry and it gets greasy. i typically wash my hair twice a week and i usually get a good two and a half days before it starts showing any signs of oiliness, and three days before it visibly looks oily. idk how well i explained it but if you're inclined to do so, there's some good information out there to look up about why daily washing isn't the best for most people

I feel insecure and ugly. It did help me grown my self esteem but i wish it was the day i can wear a ponytail again or a knot. Currently around week 52! And i cant wait for week 85!

This will probably not help but stop counting the weeks,months and just live your life day to day. At April 7th it has been 18 months for me :) For me it feels like only three months has gone by And when i started my hair was only 3 milimeters long.

The best thing is to not count the months or weeks and just live your life day to day. And if you have to, only trim your hair like every 6th month. If you can not stop counting just think about that 6 month trim. At April 7th it has been 18 months for me. For me it feels like only 3 months has gone by and i started at 3 milimeters. :)

Thank you for sharing your experience. ❤️ You can rock every single length, but I totally agree with you that short hair is really high maintenance - in comparison to long hair. I mean - very short hair is super low maintenance, but all the „in-between” lengths can be really time-consuming. From my point of view the most high maintenance lengths were „bob lengths” (especially one length bob and lob haircuts) - so for me all the blunt cuts between „just below the ears” length to shoulder length (including a collarbone lob) were incredibly hard to style. I have very thick and wavy hair so it took me at least 30 minutes to style a short bob and at least 45 minutes to style a neck length bob and a collarbone length lob. What was the most high maintenance length for you?
