Yes, we have to work with what we have ! :-) But we can do our best to make it "as good as it can be", and sometimes we have nice surprises when we change some bad habits in our life and discover that our hair turns out to be better than expected ! In my case, I was pretty amazed to see how my hair could grow back looking so much fuller and shinier than when I knew nothing about hair care practices and food deficiencies. I actually had better hair at 45-50 than I had at 30, because I suffered from undiagnosed food intolerances and malabsorbtion. That's what I wanted to express in this video : by restoring your best possible health, you can restore your best possible hair too. And as you say, this "best possible" is different for everyone. Some people are luckier than others and there is nothing we can do about it. Hopefully, we are not only our hair, lol.

Growing long requires a lot of patience, though. Especially with curly hair. To keep motivated, try to enjoy all lengths as they come, and set small milestones at a time. Taking pictures regularly helps seeing progress too ! Wishing you a wonderful growth of great hair !! :-D

I have 2c hair type and it grows so good a year ago my hair Was under my neck length now it’s waist length here is some advices 1-eat vegetables every day 2- use shampoo 2 or 1times per week(use organic shampoo or less toxic chemical one.. 3- don’t use shampoo only if there is oil or mask on your hair and use conditioner after shampoo every time! 4- use warm water but not so warm then use cold water to make sure your Hair follicles are closed 5- here is some oils I use and love them 1-sesame oil 2-coconut oil (don’t use on scalp it should be 2cm away from your scalp) 3- use any masks and make your own masks when you are bored Good luck and last advice don’t forget to cut your ends every three months !

Hi kales118. THanks for your kind words. The longest my hair has ever been was around classic length. I'm not too sure if one or two inches above or below, because at that time I didn't know about hair specific lengths and my hair was not really a concern to me. Hi barret777 ! Welcome around here ! :-) You have gone through a lot of hardship, and I'm so happy to know that you have overcome cancer, and that your hair is growing back !! Loosing one's hair can be so devastating, all the more when you are sick and depressed. My health problem are very little compared to cancer, but I can understand. I have lost 4 dear uncles and aunts in the last 4 years, all of them due to cancer, and I pray God my Mom will not get it too. Or maybe me. That's also why I want to grow my hair to its maximum length and beauty, and enjoy it as much as I can in case the worse happens (the worse always happens, in the end, anyway, lol). My hair is my reward against my own battle against hardship, and who knows : maybe yours will become too, and grow beyond waist this time , who knows! :-) Wishing you all the best, and a lot of healthy hair growth !!

From APL in Jan 2015 to MBL in August 2015?!?!? That growth is soooo fast. I'm currently at APL and I would DREAM for my hair to grow to MBL by Nov-Dec 2020 (approx 7-8 months like yours) but I highly doubt it will. lol but I'll stay positive :)
@bernardinelermite11334 жыл бұрын

Aww, it's very sweet of you to say, Flora ! I want to enjoy it as long (time and length) as I can, lol. Concerning white hair and salt & pepper hair, one of my biggest hair inspiration was a lady from the Long Hair Community, same age as me, who has the most amazing calf-length silver hair ever. I think her silver hair is totally mesmerizing ! Unfortunately she has deleted her very long hair videos, except this one : kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHPJaI17ab6teK8 (when you are in her video, check her hair at 6:03 !!) I'm happy your Mom has let her hair its natural color : it will evolve beautifully with nice silver nuances ! @peachyhime60655 жыл бұрын
Thank you for writing back! I adore long hair, probably since I was a kid. When I was a kid my best friend had very long hair, she allways had 2 braids that reached her butt! (classic length?).. this is my goal length. I start growing my hair now with my natural color. At the moment my hair is almost collarbone length. I like to braid it, but it's so short! When I make braids they stand away like pipi longstocking braids. I also cut bangs... and grow them out as well... Do you ever feel the need to dye your hair? Because my "natural" virgin hair is very smooth and I never get split ends( even when it was damaged and bleached and dry... I never had split ends) but I allways want to dye it. But months ago I was comparing pictures of me with blonde and brown hair color and actually the light blonde washes my face out and makes me look tired, while the brown makes me look younger and has more contrast to my skin. I am not pale.... and have blue eyes.
@bernardinelermite11335 жыл бұрын
Hi Flora ! I have never dyed my hair, except from some awkward henna trials 20 years ago. I have had my first white hairs around 50, so they are not very noticeable yet. And anyway I don't want to change my hair nature : I love beautiful silver hair ! I don't know if I will ever achieve a white head, due to my late greying, but time will say ! ^^ Concerning the color choice, I have always been thinking that our nature-given color is the best fitting with who we truly are. But it's just my own preference : I like what is authentic and natural. I don't agree with the belief that some people are born with hair color "that doesn't match their skin tone" (or eye color). But people always wish they had what their neighbour has, lol. So basically, I can only advise you to follow your inner preference and do what you like on yourself, whatever other people prefer or not. Whatever we do, there will always be someone to disagree. So... ^^ Concerning length, patience and gentleness can bring you very far ! But it's a long term project. Concerning the conventional lengths, hip length is when your hair completely covers your back and brushes the top of your hip bones (iliac crest), which means when it brushes the top of you buttocks too. When it is at mid-butt, this is tailbone length. Classic length is when your hair entirely covers your butt (= your ends are just at the buttock fold, where legs start).
@peachyhime60655 жыл бұрын
@@bernardinelermite1133e Well first I just want waistlength hair.^^ Do you have experience with using different brushes? I have a wooden brush and a boarbristle brush. Do you recommend them?
@bernardinelermite11335 жыл бұрын
Definitely ! A wooden brush (or a bambu brush too) is very versatile : it detangles well - especially when the spikes are fixed on a flexible rubber pad - and helps spread the sebum too. It's my favorite brush ! The only problem is that wooden brushes are delicate : they don't like being washed and spikes break easily, plus the rubber pad ends up escaping from the edges or splitting. So they are rarely very durable, unless you don't use water to clean them. Boad bristle brushes are mainly used on already detangled hair to help spreading oil or sebum. I never use mine to detangle : it is too "graspy" and doen't enter the hair easily. Plus I find it rather erosive... argh ! I prefer using it after I oil my hair, to help spread the oil evenly and avoid the wet effect. I plan to make a video on brushes and combs some day, to explain all that ! I have tried all possible kinds of combs and brushes and I have plenty to say about them. ;-)

My hair is naturally wavy with big waves like this. Depending on the day, the waviness fluctuates from 2c to 2b or even 2a, because I usually bun my hair. I make a braid to sleep, but I braid it loosely so it doesn't make my hair look like "corrugated cardboard", which I don't like at all. 🙂

Beautiful! That's what I'm doing too! I told my daughter a few month before she passed away from breast and brain cancer, that I was going to let my hair grow until it's my turn to meet up with her and my other daughter. My hair was at my neck, when my daughter passed away 2-11-16. It is now passed right under my bra strap. It would of been longer if I didn't trim my own hair of almost a inches! I'll be 66 in June and I want to donate my hair to the LOCKS OF LOVE FOUNDATION. Good luck with your hair!🙋💃

Hi Val. Your message moved me !... Losing one's child is certainly one of the worst thing a person can experience in life, I think. So let me express my most sincere condoleances. I'm sure your daughter would be very proud of you trying to do something such as giving your hair to help cancer patients. :-) There are plenty of organisations to whom you can donate, though. I don't know particularly about Locks of Love, but I think they mainly take hair for children's needs. So before you donate, make sure your hair will be suitable. Indeed, it would be too bad if they can't use it, or throw it away. They actually throw away a huge percentage of the hair given to them : either it is damaged (people usually give their ends), too short (they need a certain length), or not absolutely virgin (they don't accept dyed or bleached hair, permed hair, heat processed hair, and hair with whites in it). They also sell part of the hair donated to the extension market. I personnally would investigate a little bit before I donate - if I ever do - to find the most appropriate organisation. I don't mean you haven't : I just would like you to be aware of it. I would really be annoyed (to say the least !) to learn that my hair has been thrown away... or has been sold to end up on a fully healthy person's head as hair extensions to flaunt around ! Lol. I have lost 4 of my beloved aunts and uncles from cancer in the last 5 years. All my Mom's brothers and sisters have passed away form cancer. Now she is the last one remaining. I pray God she will not get sick too !... Maybe some day I will get sick myself. Or my sister. Cancer strikes anyone. That's also a reason why I want to enjoy my hair "before it's too late", as I mentioned in the video. :-) Whishing you all the best and also that some nice person can be happy of your hair donation !

Hey there, can you take a guess on how long my hair will grow down to my waist? Im 4'10 and my hair is about 4 inches below my shoulders.
@bernardinelermite11334 жыл бұрын
How could I do that, not knowing how long your torso is and what is your growth rate ? Try to find it out yourself by measuring the exact length you still have to grow to get to waist, and check your growth speed by measuring your monthly hair growth on a duration of 2-3 months (at least) so you can figure out your own average growth speed by inch-per-month. Then divide the length to cover by that number and here you are ! 😉 For your info, most people have a growth rate of about half an inch per month.

Hi littleblondemop ! It's nice to have you pay me a visit ! I have come across your hair sometimes on KZbin and thought it was quite similar to mine, in lighter color. :-) My thickness is fluctuating in the upper medium range (8 to 9 cm tight ponytail circum.), depending on how much I have shed during my seasonal shedding period. My worst ennemies are digestive poor absorption and chronique fatigue.

@bernardinelermite11335 жыл бұрын
Hi Swetha. You are very young, and if your hair was nice and thick in your teen age, I'm sure it can grow back just as nice as it was. But for this, you have to find out why you have lost so much hair. As I mention in my comment (please read what I have already answered to the people asking the same question here below), there can be so many different reasons why hair can fall : scalp infections, hormones, nutrition, health, stress, lack of rest, deficiencies, bad lifestyle, bad nutrition, genetics, age, pregnancy, menopause, etc. etc. If it's a severe hairloss that makes you worry, the best is to check a doctor : he will see what is the problem and help you find the appropriate solution. If you have to take complements, you'll know exactly which ones and in which quantity. That's what I have done, and thanks God I could find out what to do in my own case. But everybody is different, and your solutions may not be the same as mine. I hope you understand ! :-) Wishing you and your hair all the best. - Bena

@bernardinelermite11335 жыл бұрын
Hi Gaming Cause YOLO. You should not ask this kind of question to a random youtuber like me, but to a nutritionnist or a doctor, dear. Deficiencies inducing hair loss are different from one person to another and require thorough medical investigations (like blood/urine check). Once he has the result of the analysis, the doctor will be able to tell you exactly what to do and what to take (prescription). Hair loss at a young age like you must be taken seriously : it means there is something wrong going on. Concerning the food you should eat, I only recommend that you eat as healthy as possible for your whole general health. Don't just "eat something for hair". Eat something for your body and your health. If you are in good condition, your follicles will work well and produce healthy hair. But it can also happen that a young person in very good health suffers from hair loss due to some sort of alopecia (= auto-immune problem). But this has to be diagosed by a doctor too. I hope I have answered you ! :-)

Please do tell me what vitamins you take, I'm also in 50's and have long hair but my thickness is missing.
@bernardinelermite11337 жыл бұрын
Hi Deborah. Thanks for your interest. :-) For you to understand well, I will explain in detail the reasons why I have been taking (and still take) food complements : I take food complements on medical prescription, because I have deficiencies due to a health issue with my digestive function : yeast syndrome with chronic malabsorption (= my intestine can't get benefit of the food I eat). That's why I take vitamins, minerals and some other oligo-elements that I cannot get from my food. I don't take them to improve my hair but to improve my health. When I started shedding like crazy, I went to the doctor to find a solution to get out of the exhaustion I was living in since many years ; I didn't go to the doctor to get a treatment for my hair. Losing my hair was for me a sign that something really bad was going on with my health. So to recover my hair, I had to recover my health and well-being. I have fought the fungal and exhaustion issues, not the hairloss (which was just a symptom). But indeed, as a consequence to the treatment, my hair has recovered too, showing me that my health was getting better. I'm not yet out the tunnel : I'll have to restrict my diet to low-carb food all my life, and probably take complements now and then too, like fish oil, Bs and D vitamins. What I want to say is that I can't (and don't want) to give you any names of stuff to take. I don't know your personal case, and maybe your issues are not at all similar to mine. So if you are fighting hairloss, the best is to try to find out why your thickness is going. It might be a lot of causes : age related reasons (menopause, for ex.), hormonal balance (ovaries, thyroid, testosterone response, etc.), stress issues in your life (family problems, professional pressure, etc.), lack of good sleep, auto-immune issues (diabetes, alopecia, etc.), genetic reasons (from your family heritage), and of course food issues like me too (intestinal dysbiosis, yeast issue, Crohn disease, coeliac disease, etc.). So if you find it worrying, it is better to have a medical advice with a blood check to know if you are lacking some important stuff in your body (like iron, D or Bs vitamins, omega-3, etc.), or if there is something else going on. Then you'll know exactly what to do and what to take or not. Food complements should not be taken without knowing if you need them, and in which quantity, because overdoses can be as bad as deficiencies. Now of course, you can buy specific food complements in pharmacies to promote hair growth, without prescription. There are usually meant to be taken 2-3 months and mainly contain Bs vitamins and some other stuff, like biotin or else. This is not too risky. If your hair thickens up, it might mean that you were indeed a little deficient in one or the other of the components. But if your thinning is due to hormonal cause (thyroid, for example), it will be useless. We should not be ashamed or afraid to see a doctor if we are worrying about something : doctors see all kinds of people and cases, and are there to help you solve the problem (even if it is just to tell you that there was nothing to worry about : you can't know before you check ! ;-) Wishing you all the best in your hair journey to recover your thickness, and take care. :-) Bena (still fighting) ^^

How many months it took to stop hairloss after treatment? It is just fabulous.
@bernardinelermite11336 жыл бұрын
Thank you swarna. I couldn't say exactly. I was not focused on my hair at that time, because I was so concerned about my health and my home being under repair. I had just cut my thinned hair in despair and was trying to forget about it. My new diet was drastic and stressful, and I stuggled to find how I could cook with 3/4 of my usual ingredients being suddenly forbidden. Besides this, my hair was short, so the hairloss in my washing basin was not as impressive as when my hair was long, so I did not pay attention until that day, probably about 6-8 months later, when I was shocked at how shiny and thick it suddenly looked in the mirror. But I think that the hairloss must have stopped much earlier : probably 3 months after I changed my diet and started to take the complements. It took some time because I was really low.

Hello my hair has been shedding a lot this past year since I’ve cut it short, should I visit a doctor about it?
@bernardinelermite11335 жыл бұрын
Hi Jodie. If you worry about something wrong going on, you should definitely check it. If it's nothing bad, you'll be reassured. And if it is something bad, the sooner you'll know about it, the better : you'll be in a position to act and find a solution or a cure with no delay. Loosing one's hair is a symptom : it means that your body is putting its efforts elsewhere than hair, and it is good to know what. Concerning the fact that your hair has started shedding more since you have cut it is probably just a coincidence, though : hair can't feel and transmit information to the root, so hair "doesn't know" that it has been cut. Cutting or shaving has no influence on growth speed or hair life cycle. The culprit is more probably linked to a change of life or a change of health condition at about the same time you have cut your hair. Have you moved to another place ? Had a baby ? Lost or changed job ? Changed your diet (for example to become vegan) ? Undergone some major long lasting stess (divorce, exams) ?... These things can impact hair growth cycle and trigger sheddind. Of course, I don't ask you to answer these private questions : it's just food for thoughts. Having a medical check is also useful to adapt the quantity of complements you might have to take, if you suffer from some deficiencies : like iron, B and D vitamins, etc. Please check the comments below : I have answered to many people about similar worries. Wishing you all the best to you and your hair ! :-)

Veganism can make you deficient in proteins : it is a well known cause of hair loss. So if you are a vegan, or if you want to go on beeing one, you absolutely have to find a good vegetal income of proteins from vegetal sources, like nuts, alguaes, pulses, etc. ;-) All the best to you !

@bernardinelermite11334 жыл бұрын
Only curly hair people have "naturally curly" hair : all others have to do something to curl it. So I'm not sure to understand your question... 🤔 You mean curl your hair with a "non chemical method" (aka "natural") ? If so, one good way is to wrap your hair around something when wet, so it will be curly once dry. But curls will only remain until you wash your hair again. Check "heatless rag curl" method : it gives very nice result without using damaging tools or products. 😉

@bernardinelermite1133 Жыл бұрын
Hi Jamie ! When I oiled my hair, I usually did it when not totally dry, so as to "seal moist" in it. But I have never been really convinced there was any moist inside hair, lol. If I want to add some softness one day that my hair is dry, I simply rub a very small amount of shea butter in my palms and run my hands into my hair. Concerning trims, I used a combination of different methods, based on Feyes' method. To get the bevelled effect, I tilt my hair back. I don't know if I ever do a self-trim video because my hair is too long and too thin now (I'm 58) to really show a significant result, but also because I have reached the end of my hair journey (knee length) and cut back to hip. But who knows !... Lol. Wishing you and your hair all the best ! 🍀

@bernardinelermite1133 Жыл бұрын
Lol. OK, I'll sum it up for you : 1ST PHASE : create a straight-across cut with a small bevel 1) I thoroughly detangle and align my hair in my back, with my head tilted backward 2) I make a tight nape ponytail with a soft hair tie 3) I slowly pull the hair tie down, keeping it aligned with my spine 4) I clamp the hair tie in my fingers, bring the ponytail end in front of me and cut whatever length I want off from my ends. 5) I comb again and repeat the operation to make sure I cut neatly 2ND PHASE : round-up the straight cut, with a small bevel 6) I separate my hair in two halves and bring each part on its respective side at a 45° angle approximately, with my head still tilted backward (it is pretty difficult to do, especially when you cut the opposite side of you main hand, lol) 7) I cut each side perpendicularly to the hair stands 8) I comb all my hair again, and repeat the parting process as many times as necessary to obtain a perfect U shape. 9) Sometimes I bring both parts in front of me, join them under my chin with a hait tie and cut them together : it's easier and works more or less the same. I hope this will sound clear enough 😂 Good luck ! 😉🍀

@bernardinelermite11336 жыл бұрын
Hi Kinsey George. I hope you'll find it workable ! My tips to make the detangling easier with no conditioner is to always fully detangle before washing, and wash without packing all the hair on the top of the head. No-co works for me because I only wash my scalp with the shampoo, without rubbing the length. (I just gently press the foam along my hair when it flows down the length). I also don't wash head down but standing in the shower, so my hair doesn't change position : it's always hanging in my back. And thanks to the light vinegar rinse with essential oils in the end, it softens my hair too and it is very easy to detangle without conditioner, using a wide tooth comb and starting by the ends and working your way up. ;-)

Are those soft curls natural or you got them from braids?
@bernardinelermite11336 жыл бұрын
My hair type is 2c on the hair-typing scale. It means the highest grade in waviness before being called curly. When I have just washed my hair, it is at its waviest. Then the waviness tends to decrease with days, because I bun my hair a lot during the week. My hair was much wavier when it was shorter : indeed, the longer the hair, the looser the waves. Only the ends remain curly because there is no more hair weight below to pull them down. It's actually quite easy to see if somebody has real waves or not. You cannot get those big waves with a braid, and you cannot get these curly ends either. If I braid my hair at night, I braid it very loosly to avoid disrupting my own natural big wave pattern. I should probably make a video on my hair moods some day, lol. It can be fun looking how very different it can be from one day to another ! ^^

Hi Rezina. Yeast sydrome is getting a major health concern indeed : scientists are discovering new evidences every day that the intestinal well-being is closely related to the mental well-being and the overall health and balance. The study of the intestinal microbiote is becoming a key issue to understanding plenty of unexplained functional problems and even psychological vulnerabilities. Not to mention allergies and auto-immune problems that did not have an explanation before. It is not easy to help the people because a healthy microbiote is yet to be found and described. Our microbes are an entire world about which we don't know much yet, except that we cannot live without them, but don't really know how they work together and help us keeping healthy. Up to now, the microbes were just seen as ennemies to destroy. Nothing is more wrong and dangerous ! Not ony we cannot live without them (digestion is impossible without our good microbes), but "our" microbes protect us against the bad ones that may want to attack us. They keep their territory (our body) against invaders (dangerous microbes). Literally ! That's why too much washing is bad : we destroy our own defenders ! Same with taking antibiotics, eating processed food full of preservatives or drinking chlorinated water : we are killing all together the bad and the good microbes. The bad news is that the bad microbes (such as candida yeast) are more resistant that good ones (such as lactobacillus) and get even stronger with time. Hence the problems we are facing.

@@bernardinelermite1133 And I'm just 21 years old.
@bernardinelermite11335 жыл бұрын
Rezina, my healthy diet was based on making my body "not so comfortable" for the candida yeast. As it mainly develops on sugar, I had to drastically reduce my sugar income and avoid all food that had a glycemic index above 60. It means stop ALL added sugars : no sweet, no honey, no jam, no maple sirup, no sweet fruits, etc. And refrain from almost all refined starchy food : no refined rice, no cereals, no gluten, very little popatoes (only boiled, no chips). No trans-fat either, due to the liver being exhausted by the toxins of the candida. My food was mostly based on fresh green vegetables, pulses, not too sweet fruits, complete basmati rice, and some organic meat from time to time. And lots of nuts and fish. No milk, only a little cheese as Gruyere or Parmesan (no lactose). I also had to take lots of supplements to reduce the deficiencies, and lots of probiotics to help the intestinal microbiote to recover. But for these (complements and probiotics), you'll need a medical advice to exactly know what is YOUR problem. In the meantime, I had to readjut my overall body pH (that was too acidic, which promotes the yeast). So I also had to check my food and avoid what was making my body more acidic (sugar and red meat being the worst). Can't explain all here, it would take ages and kilometers of explanations. Before you want to do the same, make sure you have the same problem : real yeast syndrome. You can browse the internet about it. There are good advices on the specialized medical blogs and forums concerning the low carb diet and the readjustment of the body pH to stop the yeast from spreading. We cannot totally kill it : it's part of our natural flora, and destroying it would mean destroy all the rest too. We can only work at making our body not so friendly to it. But it takes many months, many years sometimes, to readjust. The beginning is difficult : you have to find a good cooking routine, avoid temptation, and undergo the withdrawal symptoms from sugar cutting, and then from the toxins liberated by the dying yeast (that will try to survive and make you crave for sugar and bread, lol). Please take a medical advice too : this is a serious long term issue. I'm still struggling with yeast proliferation : it's an endless battle. But being consistent with your diet is the key : all symptoms will decrease as the yeast becomes less and less. Muscles/joints pain disappear, sleep gets better, anxiety decrease (taking extra omega-3 helps a lot for that !), migraines disappear too. Even blurry fluctuating sight and night breathing improve, it's amazing ! Wishing you all the best, and please don't do anything drastic without getting a medical advice. ❤️

Absolutely lovely hair! You are such an inspiration to me, because I have the same type of hair as you and it's so inspiring to "see" what my future hair will look like (I have been growing out bad dye job, bad haircut, etc. since January 2016, and have abstained from using dyes, bleach, blowdryers, everything since then!). My question is: what is your haircut routine? Do you trim often? Do you do it yourself? If at a salon, what do you ask for? I got about half the damage cut off in March 2017, but the haircut did not turn out very well (I asked for a blunt cut, and somehow he convinced me to get face framing layers), and have not gotten a cut since. This time I am letting it grow and grow to hopefully cut all of the damage and have virgin hair at BSL. Any advice would be great! I am so sorry for the long post, I never comment, but I just had to in this case!

Hi Victoria ! You are most welcome ! :-) When my hair was short, I used to go to the hairdresser. (Short cuts require frequent trims to keep nice looking : it's probably why hairdressers like them so much ! ^^) I actually started growing my hair from a "below jaw length bob", once all my hair was at the same length. Then I let it grow until I reached a little above APL. It was at that time that I joined the Long Hair Community and learned about the different techniques to cut your own hair. In case you are interested, I give you here the link to Feye's self trimming methods that the members of the LHC recommend : feyeselftrim.livejournal.com/ I started cutting my hair myself once I was at APL, using the U-shaped method (slightly adapted for my personal preference : a very soft U-shape with a slight bevelled voluming effect at the end that I get from tilting my head backward when cutting). Since then, I have been cutting my hair myself. In the beginning I cut about half an inch every 3-4 months, then I evolved to more frequent microtrims : a few millimeters every 1-2 months. My hair grows between 12 to 15 cm per year (with a tendency to slow down with age). So if I deduct the trims, I have about 10 to 12 cm left each year. I don't go to the salon anymore. My trims do not primarily aim at eradicating the splits but more at maintaining my ends as regular and thick as possible. Too bad the hairdresser did not really listen to you and ended up doing what he thought was best. It's unfortunately so often the case ! I hope you will be able to level it somehow when you cut off the last part of the damaged hair. And then you'll be on your way to grow a full head of beautiful, fresh, virgin healthy hair ! :-D Patience is the key to achieve one's goal when one wishes to go to great length. Good luck in you growing process and enjoy every bit of length as it comes !

What a wonderful and thorough answer. Your beauty shines from within as well :) I have actually been looking into Feye's method for some time now (I read LHC from time to time!), and was wondering just how good it really was...and your story has surely convinced me! I like that the self-trimming method keeps me in control of my hair, and that no one will be pushing me to get some new style or cut off way more than I wanted (isn't that what always seems to happen?). I think by September of this year I will be at BSL virgin hair, and I cannot wait to cut off all that remaning damage and have hair similar to yours; it must be so much fun to play with (not to mention it feels so good to feel healthy hair on your back)! Love your videos and your personality. Thanks so much!
@bernardinelermite11336 жыл бұрын
Yes, being able to self-trim was a step to more independance that I really appreciated (and still do) ! I don't like other people interfering with my body, be they dentists, doctors or beauticians. It can't be a self pampering moment if you are nervous and unconfident. But I haven't had only bad experiences at hairdressers either : some did exactly what I had asked. I generally start to express my wishes in a very clear way, saying that I don't want them to do what they think is good to me but what I ask and shall pay for, lol. And when it involves cutting, I show them on my hair the length to cut off, precising what I mean by 2 cm or 1 inch, because apparently they all have a huge tendency to misinterpret / inflate figures, lol. Too excited to know that your virgin hair is approaching BSL and that you'll be able to cut off the damages ! :-) :-) I wish I could see your hair when you are there, lol. It's so pleasant to reach one's long awaited aim and see that the result of our patience has paid ! :-) And as you say : feel your hair gently stroking your back aaaaaall the way down ! ^^ Such a sensual feeling !... I'm sure it is the reason why some guys are wanting to grow their hair long too : to feel it against their skin ! To me, if human beings are able to grow long hair, it means that it is probaby the way it is supposed to be. Our body usually doesn't loose precious resources and energy to produce useless things. Everybody can do what they think is good to them with their own body (or should be able to). For me, this means developping the full potential of that mysterious hair that I have and don't fully know yet, lol. Not only do I love the length for its flying draping beauty, but I love the material too : hair is so soft and personal ! It must remind some very ancient deep rooted animal feeling of kinship with your species : when the little child is in his mother's arms, against her upper chest, all coved by the warmth of her hair, with his face against her. This smell of maternal protection and well-being is unforgettable !...

I must say, you really have a way with words! You describe very well many of the things I think/feel. I absolutely know what you mean about people "interfering with your body"...it seems too many professionals (if you can call some of them that) do what they think is best, without taking the client into account. The times I have gotten a bad haircut/treatment are too many to count. In fact, an esthetician 2 years ago gave me an ill-advised skin peeling (after I reiterated over and over how fragile and pale my skin is), and my sensitive forehead skin has never fully recovered. These experiences just leave a person feeling so vulnerable and out of control. But I am so grateful that we can research, and speak to others (like-minded people), and take more charge of our health and bodies. And wow, you hit the nail on the head with how long (and healthy) hair makes you feel! I've had it long all my life, and to say it is a security blanket is an understatement! It feels like comfort to me, like being home, like being in my most natural and beautiful state. The more I mess with it and don't let it be, the more I distance myself from the real "me." I'm sure many others feel similarly. Maybe I will overcome my interney shyness one day, and make a post on LHC with my hair journey! You guys are a very supportive bunch, so I know I will be most welcomed. I thank you for your advice, believe me I will all of it into account, and read your responses whenever I need some support. I have been patient with my growth for 2 years now, and I know I have to just keep going! Cheers from Argentina!

Many thanks for your nice dense message, Victoria ! I'm so sorry about this bad experience at the beautician !!... :-( I had a bad one too with the professional who epilated me the very first time of my life : she torn the epilating wax so violently that I still have the stretch marks on my both my thighs. Oh well !... Lol. At least hair can grow back, but scars remain. And sometimes there are psychological scars which remain too. I like you second paragraph very much, and I can relate to it so much ! The more my hair grows, the more I feel like I'm approching a sort of completeness of my physical self. My spiritual self doesn't actually need hair to feel complete, but it does benefit of it too, somehow. I can't explain exactly how and why. I just feel it. I am a very emotional person and my hair represents a kind of link between these two entities of myself. If I cut my hair short, I cut myself from my sensitivity and emotions, in a way. As if my hair was a channel. It's difficult to express. But you might have noticed that musicians, scientists and all highly intellectual and/or hypersensitive people often have very long hair. I think there is some meaningful reason behind it. Concerning the LHC, I have left some very good friends there, and I really enjoyed the time I spent discussing hair stuff and life with them. It's a nice way to share hair experiences in a very protective place, as long as you keep your mouth shut about what you really think about burning political hair (or non-hair) matters or American practice of political correctness. But I'm no longer a member since I had an argument with a zealous moderator who was too happy to kick me out, lol. Too bluntly honest people never fit in very long anywhere, do they ! ^^ Cheers from the Swiss Alps ! :-)

Hi Halima ! Everyone wants to know about those secrets, lol. Please check what I have explained to other people in the comments below about the same question. I wish I really had "secrets" lol. But I don't believe in magical products. Hair growns "from inside", so we have to take proper care of our health and nutrition to get the best possible hair as per our genetics. Then we have to be gentle to spare as much as we can our hair "from outside". All my videos (except hair plays which are for enjoyment) talk about my hair philosophy : what I do and what I don't do, and why. But my channel is still small and I still have a lot of videos to do to fully explain everything I wish to talk about. I hope you understand ! :-) Patience is a key virtue to grow (and keep) heathy long hair. ;-)

Hi Brooklyn ! Thank for visiting my channel. :-) Maybe it's simply your natural hair length due to your personal hair cycle ?... It's difficult to say without knowing more about you. We don't have much power on our genetics, (or our age), but we do have a lot on our practices ! For example if you chemically treat your hair, and/or use heat on it (I don't know if you do), transitioning to some more natural haircare and ditch the flat iron can make a dramatic change ! And taking the opportunity of a medical visit to have an iron/vitamins/hormones balance check can also lead you to find out whether you suffer from an underlying health problem or deficiency in oligo-elements. Iron deficiency and D vitamin deficiency are extremely common nowadays. Just saying !... ;-) Wishing you all the best with your hair ! :-)

What is the type of hair brush that you have used?
@bernardinelermite11335 жыл бұрын
Hi Minusha. I have several different brushes for different uses, but my favourite one is a brush with wooden spikes mounted on a rubber cushion : it doesn't have too many spikes that would block the knots, and whenever there is a knot, the rubber cushion allows the spike to bend and not break the hair. Plus it is also good to spread sebum. I love it ! It also exist same ones with bambu spikes : it's a very strong and safe material. I also have a boar bristle brush (which I only use to spread oil on my hair) and a plastic "wet brush" (Tangle Teaser) that I use to detangle under the water flow when I wash my hair. I will probably make a video some day, to explain which brush I like best in different situations. I hope I have answered your question. :-)

Can you plz tell me what supplements and products you have used for your hair to make them thick? Because, I have extremely thin hair. I want to make them a little bit thicker to save my scalp.
@bernardinelermite11336 жыл бұрын
Hello Tanvir Mariya ! Thanks for your interest. I think I have already answered this question several times in the comments : please check if you can find some content of interest in them. This said, the only way you can get thicker hair by taking complements or using products is when you suffer from some kind of hair loss. It means when your hair is not at its thickest state due to deficiencies or some pathological condition. So when you find the origin of the problem and you take action to correct the situation, your hair will grow back to its normality. But there are no ways to increase the number of hair follicles you are born with. (Maybe in the future it will be, when doctors have found how to duplicate full operating follicles in vitro and implant them in people's scalp). In this video, I explain how I have been able to restore my full hair potential after I found what I was suffering from. This is the key : you have to find out yourself what is YOUR health problem (or possible bad hair practices), and take the necessary steps to solve it. What I took was ordered by my doctor, based on my own specific case. It doesn't mean it will be appropriate for you at all : there are millions of reasons why hair won't grow properly, or shed more than desired : stress, sickness, drugs, food deficiencies, nutrition, hormones, age, pregnancy/menopause, etc. And in case your hair is naturally thin, because it is a genetic trait in your family, you will not be able to change it. Having naturally thin hair doens't mean having unhealthy/ugly hair at all !... Just saying. Thin hair can be healthy, silky and lovely, and can even grow surprisingly long too : I remember a girl from the Long Hair Community who had almost knee length super thin, fine and delicate scandinavian hair. She looked like a fairy with her long ethereal flowing locks ! I hope you will quickly find a solution in case you suffer form undiagnosed problems or deficiencies. Good luck to you and all the best for your hair journey !

Hi Tanvir Mariya ! What you tell me moves me a lot : you are indeed so young, and this situation is not normal. Have you got a medical check ? I definitely think you need to ! It's impossible to know what are the reasons just by exchanging a few messages on line. You probably need to have some blood check done, and also a scalp examination to see if there is a problem there. As I have already said in many replies to other people, hair loss can be triggered by so many different causes that I cannot give a trustful advice in a few lines. Some people will suffer from hormonal problems, some others from bad nutrition habits, some will have digestive problems and intolerances they don't even know about, some will have scalp infections, and some others will have auto-immune disorders. Some will have some form of diffuse or severe alopecia, etc. Please try to get a medical advice quickly : hair loss can be the symptom of a health problem, not a hair problem at all, but the loss of hair can just be a consequence of some more serious issue, like it was in my case. It's bad to do nothing and keep worrying : it's a stressful situation, and as long as you don't know what happens you cannot take any proactive action to solve the problem. I whish you all the best to find what's wrong very soon and be able to restore your original full hair. You are too young to lose your hair and feel miserable because of that ! Love ❤️ Bena

Hat is the best solution to do if my hair has split end and what treatment should I give it? ;)
@bernardinelermite11336 жыл бұрын
Hello Shakira. The resistance of your hair to UV and splitting depends a lot on your hair type (fineness, curliness...), the possible undesired treatments you have done to it (perm, bleach, etc.) and also on your routine (how much you wash, comb, brush, straighten, etc.). It also depends on how good you have "grown it from inside" (are you having a healthy life and nutrition). So... lol. I don't wear hats, but I pay attention to my hair in the summertime, when I go to the beach (hot dessicating wind, chlorinated/salted water, harsh sun) : I put some sort of oil or a leave-in and bun/braid my hair. If your hair is delicate, wearing a hat can indeed help in the hot hours of full UV. This is up to you to decide and see as per your hair personal condition. I personally think that some scalp exposure to the sun is good to strengthen my follicles, help maintain a healthy scalp and promote growth (my hair grows much faster in the summer, and my skin looks far better too : I never get pimples or acne in the summer !). Hair on our head is primarily meant to protect our brain from the sun : so getting some sun is probably not bad as it will make the scalp want to protect you by producing enough hair. (But this is just my own theory, lol). Concerning split ends, I'm not obsessing over them and I'm also much too lazy to star systematic eradication campaigns. I cut some here and there when I come across bad ones, otherwise I just let them be. As long as the hair grows, the ends undergo a natural erosion process, and very often the splits break off by themselves. I have personnally never experienced any "travelling up" of my splits. They are mainly located in the last 5 to 10 cm of my hair, and the few ones I find sometimes higher are due to damages coming from the use of hair pins, barrettes, or other hair accessories. There are many way to deal with split ends : - let them be and hope they will erode by themselves - search and destroy (= S&D = cut them by hand, one by one, using different techniques. Long but efficient, and no risky tools involved) - burning (= twisting some hair strands into a fine rope and passing a flame along : will destroy all ends poking out, splitted or not. Dangerous method, especially for fine, processed and dry hair. I would never do this, but this technique is a traditional one in the Maghreb and quite common in France) - use a split-ender (will cut all ends poking out, splitted or not. Doesn't work well with very fine hair) I hope I have answered to you ! :-)

Bernardine L'Ermite lol thanks, because I’m a gypsy my mam likes me having long hair and my hair is currently below my breasts with split ends and I want it to be healthy and thick, so tonight I am putting oil treatment in it and wrapping my hair into a bun and wash it out in the morning , I will be doing that 2 to 3 times a week thanks for the advice anyways xx!
@bernardinelermite11336 жыл бұрын
You are welcome ! 2-3 oil treatments per week seem quite a lot to me though : it means a lot of washing to clean off the oil. To my mind it would be better to wash less and to reduce the oil application to extremely little, just enough to keep your ends soft (= use oil as a leave-in, not as a deep treatment). So you can wash less often and keep soft ends all the time. It's what I do, using super small amounts of shea butter... just saying ! ;-)

Hi, I really need advice because I'm 15 years old and my hair was super thick, recently I cut it and it looks quite thin, I've been adding castor oil to it and I haven't used heat on it ever since I cut it. Do u think that as it grows it will become thicker like before? I rlly hope u reply x
@bernardinelermite11335 жыл бұрын
Salam ya khadija ! Concerning the fact that your hair feels thinner after the cut is maybe due to the fact that it has been layered. Has it ? Pixie cuts make hair feel a lot lighter than bob cuts. If you haven't changed anything in your life since the cut, and if you have not been sick, your hair should regrow just the same as it was before, don't worry ! Concerning castor oil, it should mainly be applied on the scalp (by gently massaging, then let it stand overnight before wash day). Applying on the length of the hair will not make any change (except being very difficult to wash away). And stopping heat is a very good point : all your new growth will be virgin hair, strong and shiny. But be patient : it takes many months to see a difference. ;-)

Hi sil ver ! You'll have to give some time to your follicles to regenerate, and your body to clear off the chemicals. I don't know how long it takes : people are very different. Some start regrowing right after they have shed, and some others need more time for their follicles to be fully operational. (And also not every body has got the same treatment and chemicals, and the same dose of it). But once your hair start regrowing, you'll have to wait and see how quick it grows : try to measure it every month from the same point (usually the front line) and see how much growth you have got. After about 4-5 months you'll be in a position to guesstimate your growth speed pretty accurately. Usually hair grows about 1 to 1.5 cm per month (= half an inch) as an average rate. Then measure how much distance there is from the top of your head down to your hips, or from your nape down to your hips, and divide by your medium growth speed : you'll get the number of monthes necessary to hit your milestone. Then divide by 12 to get it in years. I can understand that you want your long hair back quickly, but hair doesn't grow quickly, so patience is absolutely necessary. Not to be desperate, try to have smaller intermediate milestones : like chin, then shoulders, then collarbone, etc. It helps to be happy and to celebrate these small milestones in order not to loose courage. I have calculated that with my 1.2 cm/month growth speed, my nape hair would be at my hips in 4 years (the distance is 60 cm). But to get my whole hair down there, I would need about 5 years. These figures are meant without any trim involved, of course. I hope this will give a better idea of the time frame. ;-) I wish you to fully recover from the chemo very soon, so your hair will start growing back as beautiful as it was before. All the best and plenty of love to you ! ❤
