Today I'm talking about about my entire journey with hair loss and my experiences getting diagnosed with Alopecia Areata (Ophiasis), from start to finish.
From the very first time I found a bald patch, to losing chunks of my hair, right up to me getting diagnosed and what it's like now a few years later.

You are so pretty, oh my soul! Thank you so much for making this video. I've noticed there's not too much info on the ophiasis pattern so I truly appreciate everything in this video, I noticed it's like 5 days old... and it's so in depth kinda like what I was looking for. It's been about 4 to 5 weeks since my diagnosis, and every so few days I'm feeling terribly sad And emotional but I think it's gna be okay haha, I trust, I have those days where I'm like ag, whatever, but not all days are the same, wash day is a new scary experience. I think I'm gong to join you, saving up for some type of wig, it looks like the ophiasis pattern doesn't grow back very quickly or at all, I mean we hope for the best but we also just have to be realistic. Aw, thank you again. I'm subscribed!! 💐

Hi Sheri, thank-you for taking the time to comment - it means a lot! Sorry to hear you are also suffering - I hope to cover the Ophiasis pattern in a more dedicated video at some point but this might be quite a bit in the future, with a lot going on right now! Times ahead will be hard, and most certainly emotional; like a perpetual roller coaster, there will highs and lows continuously. I recommend looking after your bio hair in the meantime but saving for a wig just like you suggested - it's always great to have that back-up plan! I sadly couldn't afford one until recently, and I am just over 3 years from when I was first formally diagnosed. Do not by any means think that your hair loss limits your options; they are hard to see at times, but there's great ways of getting creative! Best of luck! x

Hi @angelchickie101, I'm sorry to hear this because I know some of your struggles. I hope you can find reassurance in knowing it gets better. The condition itself can and will always be a roller coaster, but being at a place of acceptance and managing it physically and emotionally WILL get easier ❤

This is exactly what my hair loss looks like right now. I knew I had alopecia, but Alopecia Ophiasis was just diagnosed today. They want me to go on medication, but I'm just not sure it will help and whether or not I want to put myself through it.

Hi there Kk Ww, sorry to hear you're struggles with this! Alopecia really isn't a friendly condition and it's sadly very misunderstood! In the case of mine, it's an autoimmune disorder, similar to what you're Doctor has mentioned from the sounds of it. Which means coming to terms with the condition being out of our control is difficult. It's especially difficult when we have to accept that the outlook that we might ever have a cure is minimal. There will be highs and lows with this condition, and it's all about learning to ride those waves as they come. Coming to terms with those facts are the worse and we all do what makes us feel our best while on that journey! You do what you feel most comfortable with and best for you, only you know you're own body at the end of the day and I truly wish you the best of luck whatever you decide :)

Does your scalp hurt sometimes and itches? Becouse mine does,I've bin to the dermatologist and all the test on bacteria and fungus is negative, still it itches and hurt..I have similar situation,a bit less than you ,but most of my bottom is gone .Did you try injections of kortizol?

Hi there, yes there can definitely be a mixture of sensations on the scalp ranging from tingling, itchiness and beverage sensitivity - all varying in degrees of intensity too! I've had them all, at different stages of the conditions. Unfortunately due to the extensive loss on mine, it was deemed Steroid injections wouldn't likely work. However I do wish with hindsight I pushed for these more at the start just to try! Hope this helps, hope you had some success!
