It's super hard to deal with. Knowing you had long, thick and full hair to being bald and your hair becoming super thin. It's the worst.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! I discovered mine December 2019 and since January 2020 been doing steroid shots with my dermatologist. But I honestly thought I was alone and wouldn't find someone who can fully understand me! I found your video from TikTok and that brought me here. God bless you for posting this and having the courage to! I am definitely relived to have found you and so grateful! 💙

I am 30 years old and I started to lose hair at the age of 15, and to say that its been difficult dealing with alopecia all these years is an understatement. My thinning hair is throughout my whole head, especially at the top. I have tried many things, including going to dermatologists having them poke needles into my scalp. Nothing has worked. I wear wigs and hair toppers sometimes, but I often feel self conscious. I've struggled with depression and anxiety throughout my life so I feel thats played a major role in why I have alopecia. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope to hear more about how you were able to stop the shedding, because I still shed hair. I think the hair that I do grow continues to shed. Hope you don't mind the long message, just wanted to share my story. Oh yeah, and Indian relatives love to point out at how bad the hair loss is, or belittle me for the wigs, but I try not to let it bother me. It just shows me how insensitive they are, because I would never try to make someone feel bad about something they can't control.

+86peaches oh no I'm so sorry to hear that! That's prob the one thing that prevented me from posting this for so long is how a lot of people in our community love to put out this image of perfection and if you're anything less, they make sure you know it. I'm so over it. We don't need to hold ourselves up to anyone else's standards, this is our life. I get the depression thing, I definitely went through it too. But. Like I said in the video stress is the worse thing. If there's anything you can do, just focus on having fun in some small way, every single day. Try to make every moment enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your story with me 😘

I have been dealing with this for almost 10 years now. You are right! stress is one of the number one factors in keeping this somewhat under control. What I struggle with is the paranoia and stress it causes me when I see the hair in my brush or my hands it is a feeling of defeat I cannot put into words. I try to reduce the stress but when I see the hair it just makes me so sad.

My alopecia started about 25 years ago kind of when alot of doctors had really no answer or cure about it. At that time I went to many dermatologists and was told the same answers. I've tried many things and still til this day I have to wear wings but God knows I desire my own real natural hair. I'm passed the depression and sadness I have accepted the condition however I still believe my hair will grow back because I have seen it come and go throughout the years. God bless you and thank you for sharing your story.

I had my first alopecia incident after I had a baby. What was considered fairly routine (hair fall) after childbirth, turned out to be a nightmare as I lost clumps of hair each day and had bald patches all over my scalp. The only thing that brought hair back was the very painful steroid injections on the scalp. I have had another episode since. And I also believe stress increases the rate of loss. I'll wait to see your recommendations, but thank you for being so brave and sharing your story.

Its so much difficult to see part of your falling off the part that you love the most! Its terrible. My father had alopecia as well he lost his all body hair and never gained back. But by the grace of allah i’ve recovered alot there was a time when i lost my lash and now my 50 of eyebrow is gone. I’ve stoped taking medicine because nothing helped me and i ended up gaining weight. Now i’m trying everything natural and onion water has helped me alot. There was a woman on another channel who’s husband used to criticize her for her balding hair and encouraged her to wear wigs because he was embarrassed. I wish this young woman could see your relationship with your husband so she could see what a marriage really is. Your husband helped you find solutions to the problem and even made recipes for your diet. That’s a real man. That real love. That’s a healthy supportive relationship! Cudos to u both!

Been dealing with hair loss for several years now. Finally went to a dermatologist who said I was "shedding." He didn't really look at all my bald spots just kind of gave an instant diagnosis. So no firm diagnosis of alopecia. But I've lost so much hair. And several places are literally bald. Yes.... years of physical stress and years of emotional stress. What I really want to share is a couple tips on how to cover bald spots. First, Caboki or Revive or Toppik. There could be other similar products but these are the ones I've used and can vouch for. Love them. You just dab them on your bald spots and voila - bald spot disappears. It looks like your real hair. Just order yours in best color to match your hair. (I get mine through eBay) The second product I use is spray on bottle in your best color. It's advertised as temporary root concealer for gray. But I use it on some bald or thinning spots, especially on my temple area where the other product, Toppik or Caboki, may not work as well or be more noticeable. I get the temporary root concealer at Target and the other products on eBay. Check them out on KZbin. Hope this helps someone. Hope these tips are helpful for anyone suffering from hair loss, whether it's thinning hair or actual bald spots. I'm so much more comfortable going out in public since I've discovered them.

Hey babe! Seen your post on the ipsy group. So happy you've made this video. I've suffered from Alopecia for years and never treated it because I just knew it was untreatable. Im so subconscious about it that I usually just cover it with eyeshadow so that no one would notice. I don't have bold spots but my edges are really thin and I notice it gets thinner as I get older. I'm looking forward to seeing your upcoming series on this! You are very brave for coming on here and telling your story. I would be so scared to do this on my channel. Hope you find the perfect treatment 💖

Thank you so much. I have been going through much stress for quite some time now and I just want to be free of it. The straw that has broken the camels back is that my daughter just told me that I have a bald spot hidden in the back of my scalp that I had no idea I had because I too have long extremely thick hair (half korean/ half black). She was more upset than me but now it is starting to frighten me a little bit. Your video helped me a lot by letting me know that it is possible to deal with it and have the hair grow back. Thanks for being so brave. I just subscribed :) Now if I could just figure out how to keep stress at a minimum.

I am so sorry that you're going through this, Deepa. I think you're incredibly strong for making this video and sharing this story, and this just goes to show the amazing qualities that are within you. I know hair is so closely tied to one's self confidence and how emotional hair issues can be (from a similar experience) but take it from an outsider- you could have a head full of hair or nothing at all and you would remain just as beautiful inside and out. All the best to you and I hope the new growth continues. - Atifa (from the jewelry launch :))

So it’s been six months of alopecia and lost lots of spot. Tried many different vitamins, shampoos and oils. Many helped hair growth but I continued to shed. This seemed to be a cycle. For me fenugreek soaked seed water helped when applied for 20 before shampooing. Also drinking organic aloe juice. Began taking zinc drops too. Way less shedding and I finally feel it’s under control. 🙌🏼spots are almost all grown in but patience patience patience.

From childhood my hair has been super thin. Though i dont have bald patches but the scalp is visible all over my head. I can never grow my hair long n always have to keep it short 😞. I've to shampoo on daily basis to add volume to it as its super oily. Since childhood i've seen people making fun of my thin hair or laughs at it but never ever tried to feel the pain that i suffer bcoz of this situation. Dont know why people cannot bullying me n accept me the way i am.. ☹️

Hey I have the same problem too, but since junior high i start using hijab cause i am a muslim, so not everyone notice that except my family and girl friends. Yep, my friends bully me when i take off my hijab and saw my thin hair, some of them told to boys about me not having hair, you know. At first i almost tear up, crying, but i can hold it, and laughing with them. I found out that there is no use for me to cry about it, and it'll effect my friendship. No one's perfect and our hair is one of our imperfection and we have to embrace it. I once iverthink, what if there is someone had a crush on me, and i like him too, but then he found out that i'm half bald?, will he stay?, does he feel disguisted?. But i realized true love is not about appearance, its about loving whats inside you, so i get over it and you have too. Cheer up sweatheart, love you ❤️

I have PCOS and hypothyroidism so I'm not sure if my hair loss is just due to them or if it's something else unrelated but I've noticed over the last while how much my hair has thinned. I don't have actual bald spots thankfully but I'm losing my hair in the front of my hair line and all over the perimeter of my head. It makes me so depressed and having depression it doesn't help at all. Any time I have to wash my hair I dread it so much. I used to love my hair so much. It was unbelievably thick and curlier than it is now and now it's just..meh

Thanks for this video Deepa!! It's so nice to see your positivity and you look amazing (hair or no hair). I have been going insane as I developed a small bald patch (very small) last year and despite spending hundreds of pounds (I'm based in the uk) on trichologists etc I've seen no result which is really disappointing (I've been using minoxidil for over 6 months). A trichologist recently said that I've also developed female genetic hair loss to make matters worse!! I'm fortunate so far that the alopecia areata is still extremely small and has not grown but the uncertainty of the condition is so unnerving. I come from a family with auto immune diseases like atopic eczema, asthma, hay fever and type 2 diabetes (very Indian thing) so I already know that this will be a life long thing which really hurts :(.. I plan to have children one day and I'm terrified that I'll go bald after pregnancy that I've already told my husband that I'll need a wig. Lol. Really hope you're getting on okay and I'm sure you've seen some positive regrowth. I'm trying to remain stress free like doing yoga etc but with a busy office based job it can be difficult. Also I love my protein too much along with some of the prohibited foods due to which the AIP diet will be difficult to maintain :( :(. Will be amazing to connect with you xx

Hey! Sorry to hear about your alopecia. Lucky for you it’s so small! I hear you about the autoimmune disorders, I have a few myself and several in my family. I know it’s difficult but AIP really is amazing for us and it’s only temporary until you figure out what you can handle and what you can’t. A small sacrifice now for a lifetime of happiness!!!

It’s so hard to deal with 😩 I lost my hair when i was 13 and I’m 28 now. My hair now grows like baby hairs it’s not thick is very soft don’t shed like it used to but i still see smaller patches in it. I’m really tired of wigs if only it’s all the same level will just shave it nicely without wearing wigs but it’s not levelled. It’s so frustrating after trying out every product and injections out there. Hopefully it grows because I’m not on any treatment anymore. Thanks for the video 🙏

I read that trauma could make you loose your hair. Like having a baby or getting into a car accident. I did get into a car accident. And it says that your hair goes through a cycle. And your hair can start falling out 3-6 months after the trauma. I think that’s what’s happening to me. I have a tiny bald spot on my middle part that I noticed in March. And now beginning of May it gotten bigger. I don’t even style my hair anymore and I take vitamins and drink water. But it’s stress too. Ive been under a lot of stress lately. Im quitting my job because that’s the main source of stress for me. And I hate that this is happening to me. And I just want to relax but I can’t seem to

What makes it worse is I have long black tangly hair which I need to brush daily and I get massive balls of hair coming off the brush at the end of it. I don't have curly hair so I don't know. I get the scalp sensitivity thing too. My scalp will get tingly/itchy in a spot and I just know it's gonna fall out from there. One thing I do now when I have to wash/style my hair is I put some really fun music on and I dance around. Makes the situation a little less stressful. Thanks for sharing this with me.
