I’m 60 years old now and in my very early 40s I started to get male pattern baldness. My hair was naturally dark brown and I dyed it blonde so for almost 20 years I’ve been fairly successful at camouflaging my hair loss but a topper or wig will be the next step. Your hair looks gorgeous….😉

Brenda, I have a similar situation but I'm in my 40's and it started in my 20's. All about the camouflage, I do it too! Are toppers all that's left for us? (I got a bit emotional and wrote a book on her 'day of' video comments section.) They called mine diffused loss, as in all over. But that was 20 years ago. Could something like this work now? Not putting you on the spot, it's just so hard to talk about and it seems like we may have similar types of loss. Have a great day :)

I had the FUT done 5 yrs ago. I have female pattern baldness and had 1400 transplants in my side part and the front 2 inches of my crown. I had a great surgeon, Dr Jerry Cooley in Charlotte, NC. He fully explained everything but I didn't realize how much pain would occur in the next few weeks. The pain was from migraines due the removal of the long strip of hair on back of head. I also had a lot of shock shedding for about a year. I tried using minoxadil on scalp but Dr said better for me to take the pill along with a diuretic, have been doing that for 3 years now and am happy with results. I still have thin hair on top but with styling, nobody ever thinks it is thin. I am 69 yrs old and am only female in family to have this problem.

Did COVID cause your hair to fall out? I’ve never heard of that happening before, that’s crazy.
@thrive6522 жыл бұрын
@@billw.6701 It did :( I had not heard of it either and then started looking it up on youtube...it's definitely a thing. It also happened to a few of my friends 3 months after covid. I went to my dermatologist and he said that the number of people (mostly women) who were coming in with massive, unexplained, hair-loss increased by something like 1000% and that it was telogen effluvium - likely from covid. Then, I literally went to the "hair club" (total scam which is why I refuse to capitalize it) and they tried to sell me 1 haircut a month for 3 months and 6 hair products for the low low price of $4000.00 - as a starter kit. I had already done so much research and knew this was telogen effluvium and knew it was temporary and I said that to the person interviewing me and he said, yes, it's temporary. ????? I said, "Ok, then why would I buy this and he had no answer." He also didn't even look at my scalp or hair, saying that his machine was broken. grrrr. I also asked why he didn't know it was TE. His answer was that they are not allowed to diagnose anything. SCAM. At any rate, my hair fell out for a year and I cannot believe I have anything left, but if you saw me today, it looks great - even if short.

I had hairloss during pandemic twice because of stress not covid.
@Nat-mw3bz Жыл бұрын
The reason for hair loss if infected with COVID is because the body will send T-cells and increased blood flow to the area COVID is affecting (especially if it's affecting the lungs), so the hair will suffer as a result. Once the infection is resolved, it'll still take 6 months to a full year or longer for the hair to grow back.
@thrive652 Жыл бұрын
@Nat-mw3bz in my case, I had no lung infection. It fell out for a solid year. Then no growth whatsoever for another year. My head was a fuzzball. Then seemingly suddenly it began to grow back and its now very strong and healthy. It was really devastating and I empathize with anyone who has had it happen to them.

@mahmoodabbas76602 жыл бұрын
Many clinics would tell that implanted grafts will not fall , because it is not sensitive to DHT. This is wrong , but not totally. The grafts taken from sides and back are strong, it is a true fact, it will last longer, but not permanently, if we do not take permanent treatment course. I took DHI hair transplant in last Dec. I am keep taking PRP sessions on regular basis. I use hair lotion spray , serum, and ampullas. The hair is still not falling. Many people lost their hair after several months or 1 year of their transplant surgery.
I have frontal, it is depressing..mine is mildly noticeable but I'm tired of stressing over it. I will not jump into a transplant because it's an art. The hairline can look worse. She has pretty hair. I would be fine with my hair if the front was filled in..

Thanks so much for sharing this experience. Is it possible to use a wig during the regrowth period or would that maybe hinder the healing? My hair was a bit thin at the temples from military styling anyway. Then, I needed a 3 day ECG to scan my brain for signs of epilepsy. I told the people at the hospital that I am allergic to adhesives...and they assured me that the glue/paste for the electrodes would be fine. Over the 3 days...my scalp blistered under the electrodes and when it was time to remove them...a lot of my hair just went with them. Bummer. On the bright side, no epilepsy.

Your results are gorgeous, i felt that comment about the undiagnosed thyroid issues. My thyroid is the bottom of the acceptable range so my doctor said they wouldnt do anything, its the literal bottom value. I have all the symptoms of a thyroid too low for me,.. hair loss, premature graying since i was 15 years old, acne since i was 4 years old,.. yup 4!!! Stretch marks lining my body since i was 8 skin so dry it cracks open and bleeds but hey,… apparently i am maintaining so well it cant possibly be the cause of my fatigue weight gain watching other people eat while i am starving etc etc etc. I need a new doctor i swear. I liked how you explained the differences between the hair grafting styles, because i have long hair,… i am married to it because i look like a strangely flat on one side onion with short hair. I love short styles, i just want to look like a woman not a super tasty vegtable. I keep thinking about the transplants and always thought if i did so for my temples and edges and that one spot on the top of my forehead it would be the scar strip method because my hair is down to my pants waist, though it thins from break off a lot. I have to go to the doctor again and demand hashimoto’s testing this is nuts. I am new to your channel so don’t know if you’ve done videos on hair care and loss prevention for thyroid sufferers. If not that may be an interesting topic for you. So far i have seen online Indian ladies talking a lot about home made herbal teas applied to the scalp to reinvigorate the melanocytes in the follicles, and to keep hair in a growth state so it doesn’t go dormant. Apparently when hair goes dormant to restart growth is has to shed the existing hair and restart from the beginning. I didnt know this so that explains why you have periods of shedding like after pregnancy. You carry the baby,.. nutrients go to baby hair gets pushed to the side so a bunch goes dormant, you have a health crisis,.. aka birth,.. then the body heals and about 1.5 to 2.5 months from baby being born your body says ok time to grow hair again we’re all good so it drops the dormant hairs in short period of time ,. You panic o m g I’m going bald what the heck i was finally feeling normal again, cortisol goes up more hair goes dormant and restarts etc etc etc and next you know your kids graduating college and moving back home. So,.. yeah, anyways loved your video! Your hair is really looking gorgeous. Thank you. 😀

So basically almost everywhere. I thought about hair transplants but my doctor said it is not very common for women and there are not enough studies that show how good the results actually are. Thanks to your video I am more hopeful but I don't know if it is possible because I do not have as much hair as you do when it comes to the back of my head. I guess I have about a quarter of the amount that you have. And of course I am scared of the shock loss as well especially because it is already visible and I don't know if I can handle loosing more even if it grows back. This is such a hard decision but I really want to have my hair back from when I was younger where I wasnt scared to wear my hair down and do different hairstyles. it is isn't possible anymore to do anything but a bun to hide the little hair that I have left.

I was in a severe car accident where my right orbital rim was crushed along with my scalp meeting plexiglass giving me a very unpleasant scar on my hairline. I’ll not forget after the accident clumps of my hair falling out on what was once my hairline. I was in quite a state. It was devastating, I was contracted sports model and I did work in Film/Television. They took one look at me after the accident and that was over. I had a FUT several years ago and they could only do partial coverage of 50% density as they worried that there may not be sufficient blood flow from the scare tissue. As you said they cut a strip of your scalp out and stitch you up. But you must realise that they still cut some of your hair to do so and it pulls your scalp back. Its considered an outdated procedure. It was 75% successful in my case. And I had lovely thick long hair that took ages to grow back. As of a few weeks ago I had a FUE transplant and they did something similar and cut my hair in a section out of the back of my head that had me nearly in tears. It is tormenting to be forced to cut your hair because it is an intricate part of our femininity as women. They transplanted about 2,000 graphs and they covered most of the scar. I just worry about the scar tissue causing issues. It is worth the risk and the bother for me as my case is a bit more extreme. I hope to finally have a presentable hairline without people trying not to stare once they are up close enough to see it. I thought long and hard if I should do this and I finally said feck it and took the dive.

Likely lichen planopilaris or pseudopelade of brocq. I hope the disease is inactive otherwise that is something I will have to deal with first before I can transplant. The question is I hope my beard provides enough thickness to adequately fill in the area. Beard hairs are thicker than scalp hairs but a follicular unit from the scalp contains between 1 and 5 hairs, whereas the beard is usually 1 and sometimes 2 follicular units. How many grafts did you have transplanted Gabi?

Do you believe that the eyeshadow coverage method may have contributed to additional hair loss? I've been putting eyeshadow on my scalp for years and worry that it my clog or damage follicles. My hair has always thin on top and ttraction has not been a factor.
@GlamGirlGabi2 жыл бұрын
Hey! No I definitely don’t think so. I think my alopecia was 100 percent a result of traction/tension. I fill my eyebrows in everyday and it has never impacted my hair growth there.

@@henrymartyn so sorry about your wife's hair loss...I had my surgery 6 weeks ago....the pain and discomfort during the surgery was very minimal....i have alot of tattoos, and Id say that the hair surgery was a lot less painful than any tattoo...the first month after the surgery you have to follow special guidelines giving to you by your doctor ( for example - you cant put your head and hair under normal showers for 2 weeks, and instead you have to just pour cups of water on your head, you cant go out in the sun without a soft head covering, and you just wear bottom up shirts for a while that you can take on and off without the shirts rubbing on your hair, etc)

Hello, I wanted to ask if you fixed your thyroid problem first? I have the same issue

Yes I did! I started thyroid medication right away when I found out and it corrected it immediately.
@teelakovacs2082 жыл бұрын
Since I was the only one with these issues and it started when I was so young, my family has always suspected thyroid disease. But over the years doctors say "it's within the normal range" in any blood panels. How did you get your doctor to really dig deeper? Articles I've read have said they often refuse the further testing or that insurance will prevent getting the proper testing. I might pay out of pocket to get real answers at this point. Do you mind sharing the name of the medication that helped with that part of your health journey. I'm so glad I found your channel and glad people are sharing!

@@teelakovacs208 find a doc who will run a full thyroid panel, ie. a new doc and probably one who agrees to prescribe dessicated thyroid. In Canada we only have ERFA. Good luck!

@@MsBritabroad That's wonderful that you're getting good care and good information to know about. I started working with an endocrinologist over the past few months. During my last appointment I pointed out swelling on my neck that has not been there before and she put in a referral for an ultrasound, it may just be a benign deposit, not sure. I'm in the U.S. Wishing you good health moving forward!

Some places can also do FUE without shaving, but because it's more time-consuming and requires more skill, it's also a bit pricier.
@GlamGirlGabi3 жыл бұрын
I've heard of this actually! That would be totally worth it, even if it's pricier, for a woman with long hair.
@timjung6403 жыл бұрын
@@GlamGirlGabi I would also totally pay extra for it! If I remember correctly, it's not even that much pricier. It's just unfortunate that not many surgeons do it. I bet many more do it though in South Korea, arguably the cosmetic surgery capital in the world!

Hey! It’s a good question. My surgeon was new to transplants and so I think he wasn’t as thorough as he could have been. Also, I know him bc he did my rhinoplasty and I think he assumed I knew. I don’t blame him at all because he is an incredible surgeon but I think maybe assumptions were made that shouldn’t have been based on my own knowledge (or lack thereof) of the procedure.
