Guys get yourself a woman who'll take care of you the way Erin takes care of her yellow Gameboy Pocket. I had an original Gameboy back in the early 90s. I wish I still had it. I only just recently started getting into handhelds after being interested and looking into them for years. I picked up a DS Lite in mint condition for $30. I love that it plays GBA games. I got a handful of GBA games after buying a retron 5 (which is how I played the gba Castlevania games with a Super Nintendo controller) but being able to play them on the go is so great. Been able to find some good DS games for really good prices too. But, as a massive Sega fanboy, I want a backlit modded Game Gear so much. I'm realizing how much I missed out skipping out on handhelds. Great collection.

It blows my mind that I never heard of the nomad growing up, whenever anyone mentioned a handheld it was the game boy or game gear and a few lynx fans. The nomad was freaking amazing and I can only guess its $180 price tag was its downfall
@Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism3 жыл бұрын
We didn't hear about it because Nintendo was mopping the floor. They over ran Atari and Sega both. Atari 5200 and 7800 what? A Sega master what? A sega genisis who? I remember one kid at school got a sega instead of a ninteno. He said he regretted it and you could really see his pain lol. The only kid I knew who went Sega instead of Nintendo. Nintendo was killing it. It was gameboy or nothing else. No one heard of a sega handheld. I didn't.
@Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism3 жыл бұрын
Nintendo is still king of the handheld. I've got a PS vita but we all know what happened to that. Look at the switch. Mopping the floor still. Not even Sony seems able to compete. They just stopped trying! Cowards! haha.

Game Gear was the 1st handheld that I owned. I had the choice between that and a Game Boy, and GG had color. DS was my go to for games when every console game of that era was a 3-D polygon game. Handhelds never get very much attention anymore, so it's great to see all those great handhelds in such well maintained condition.

Years ago I got a Game Gear at a yard sale and thought it was the coolest but the battery hunger was crazy. I wasn't really interested in handhelds until the DSL came out. I got that, traded in for an XL, traded in for a 3DS, sold for a 3DS XL, sold for a New 3DS. I also got the super cool Metal Slime New 2DS. The R4 card on the DSL was the most amazing thing ever. I recall games often had to be patched to work on it, something later cards fixed. A few years back I got a GBA SP. I turned it into a backlit GBA but I kind of don't like it. I've been meaning to rebuild it as a SP.

I love the GBA! It felt like a supercharged SNES in the pocket, loved that thing. I wasn't too fond of the SP model at first, but the lighting won me over. About 10 years ago I got into GBAs again and they were DIRT cheap. I had a little flash cart with SD card and even emulated NES on the damn thing. I managed to grab what later turned out to be a rare surf blue AGS-101 backlit model. However, when I was taking pictures to sell it a couple years ago I knocked it off the table and it shattered into a million pieces. Be *very* careful with some of these older plastics as they get more brittle with age.
