Just getting my electrical/contracting buisness started now and I want to thank you because you are the only person who is giving real life advice for free and isn’t just trying to sell a product. Also thanks for recommending smashing logo! It took quite a bit of refreshes but man I got the perfect logo that I could never have thought of myself lol

I’ve been listening to your channel since before I started my Handyman business. You’re one of the people. that convinced me I would be able to do it. I would really love to send you my story and hopefully in the future be able to grow a little closer and learn more from you.

That's amazing I love these stories because most successful businesses almost fail at some point, when I started mine I almost failed because of lack of work this was a year ago but find it funny how your problem was pricing as one wise man told me once, if you have more work then you can handle then you're charging too low

I listen to a lot of different handyman /hvac business advice. Everyone throws in their 2 cents and opinions, all good. But there is one thing that seems like a death sentence in EVERY case. And that is charging too little. It’s rarely not having enough clients, bad/mad customers, or laziness. It’s charging $50 and not $150 an hr. My favorite advice you’ve given is “treat your business like a legit business” plain and simple. Heck, even charging $150 an hr is still cheaper than some of the big boys out there 😂

Really enjoying your channel, lots of helpful information and tips. I started my own handyman business about 4 months ago. I was a property manager, but I saw how much more my handmen were making than me and I knew their work quality usually wasn't great. I knew I could do better quality work, make more money, and have more time flexibility, so I left and I am loving it! I watched your video of you going through all the tools you use, but I couldn't find the video of you going though the couple dozen individual packout kits you have for different materials/jobs. Did I just miss that video, or is it still to come? Thanks for all your great content!

I'm not sure if I have a video where I go through multiple kits but I do have multiple videos where I go through individual kits. Pretty much any of my videos that are showcasing how to do a specific job are also going to have a section detailing the kits. Welcome to the handyman side of the industry! I'm always surprised that more property managers don't quit and become handyman.

I live in Oregon and looking to start PT as a handyman while working my 9-5. Saw your video on how quickly you can get your LLC , I showed my wife and she seems to be in board because it’s only $139 (NW website)! Should I get liability insurance or what type of insurance would I need to be safe even being part time? It looks like in my state you don’t need a Contractor license on jobs under a $1,000. People on small business groups say to get the contractor license…. I’m planning on just tackling the basics and nothing on the construction level! Do you have a contractor license ? Or just the LLC and operate insurance? Thanks in advance!

Insurance is a must. Contractors license would be nice but but necessary if your model is lots of small efficient jobs
