With a few rare exceptions diet and avoiding damage to hair play much more of a role than genetics. My hair is down to my lower back, almost my butt, and I don’t have good genes in terms of hair.

Ange N.O. Do t forget patience! We tend to lack that with our hair. Ripping at it with tools, we tend to want instant gratification when it comes to our hair
@RadiantRuby5 жыл бұрын
I think everyone has the capability to grow their hair past a length they thought they could never achieve. My hair stylist told me people have a gene where they can’t grow long hair. Consistency and patience will show you other wise. I never thought I could grow my hair past shoulder length to mid back. Now I’m growing it out again. I agree with all you said! Thank you for sharing!!! 💗
@DarlingNikki25 жыл бұрын
Maybe your stylist was confusing that gene with terminal length? I do believe that people have a terminal length as far as hair growth, but I seriously doubt that it would be shoulder length or less. As I've researched, most people do a cellular turnover every 7 years, so hair growth could possibly go on for 7 years before the terminal length is reached, which is a growth of 32 total inches if you average 6 inches a year. The key is to support that growth rate without losing hair and that is a challenge.
@RadiantRuby5 жыл бұрын
DarlingNikki2 Probably what she meant but she specifically said not past shoulder length. I led with suggesting that protective styling more at that length would help with other clients getting past that length. Until recent years most black woman found it very rare to get hair to your bra strap until we began our own research. That’s all I’m saying, ultimately I’m agreeing.
@ev65645 жыл бұрын
@@DarlingNikki2 I'm using this when I see someone bring up terminal hair length as a major reasons why people can't grow hair that's long lol. Honestly though, that's very interesting to know.

One thing I learned this last cold winter month is detangling before you shower is actually the best tip to follow. You have no reason to rush and you save a lot of water. I'm even detangling gently when it's dry because I don't want to keep my hair super wet for a long period of time.

I agree with you , with not wanting to shampoo, use a rinse out conditioner, than deep conditioning. That’s what I use the rinse out conditioner first, to detangle before stepping in the shower. Then I shampoo and wash in the sink, deep condition then shower. I always think about the wasted water

and if anyone is leaving rinse out conditioner in their hair for more than 3 minutes in the shower than there's the problem right there. If we are talking about going in and out the shower......i think there is no difference, because no one is going to stay 20-30 mins in the shower, after they finished washing up just so they don't have to o back in and wash out the deep conditioner. Most people dc anywhere between 15-30 mins, so most people will end up either washing it in the kitchen sink or just pop their head in the shower just to wash it out. I have heard that before about going back in the shower but it's almost always from naturals who do not deep condition much. In the warm months i do not use much rinse out just masks but i dc once a week. Again if the cheaper shampoos don't have sulfate in the ingredient list then t's not there, this notion that hair bloggers keep pushing that expensive always mean better needs to stop in 2019!

People need to understand that they hair cant be like yours, people need to use what's best for them. It's all up to the DNA most of the time. Some grow fast, some grow slower, and she has a good grade as well. Not saying all hair dont grow but they do. And seems she has fast growing hair. I really hate so many look at others and be on a wishing well, just wishing to have hair like someone else's. Hair. Be happy for others thats gods gift and she has made sure she takes care of it. Use your own products ,what works for you. Not for someone else. Or people will be buying up the store and going broke behind it.
