Andy was the youngest of the Bee Gee brothers. Barry Gibb wrote a lot of Andy's songs. Andy's biggest hits in the later 70's were "I Just Want To Be Your Everything", "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water", "Shadow Dancing", "An Everlasting Love", "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away". Sadly he passed away at only 30 years of age. Now only Barry is left. But at least we have a great legacy of their music.

You'll "hear" the Bee Gees in Andy's songs because they were all involved in helping his career. Most of his songs were written by 1 or more brothers & produced by Barry's company (Gibb-Galuten-Richardson). Shadow Dancing was written by Barry, Maurice, Robin & Andy. Barry & Andy also did the backing vocals, Barry arranged it & Gibb-Galuten-Richardson produced it.

@wnsafford18542 жыл бұрын
@@cathybumgarner839 Even though it sounds like his brothers, usually it’s just Barry doing backing vocals (sometimes with Andy or others, but not Robin & Maurice). So far, I've only found 1 song with Robin & Maurice doing backing vocals (Desire, on Andy's 3rd/final album). On Shadow Dancing, I Just Want To Be Your Everything & (Love is) Thicker Than Water, Barry is the only other brother doing backing vocals.

My older cousin introduced me to great music from a young age. I was about 10 yrs old when she bought Andy's new single "I just want to be your everything" & she had me come over to hear it. She played it over & over on a constant loop, until we both had the lyrics memorized. I just turned 55 on Tuesday (Apr 5) & I still know every word of that song & "Shadow Dancing". Those two songs have been burned into my long term memory, so I'll still be able to sing it verbatim when I'm in my 80's or 90's... if my body lasts that long - LOL! I'm so glad more people are starting to discover the music of the "baby Bee Gee" brother. Even though Andy was 12 years younger than Barry (the oldest), they could have been twins. They share very similar facial features & vocal sound. Barry & Andy looked more like twins than the actual fraternal twins, Robin & Maurice did - LOL! Andy is the baby of the family & he was still little when his older brothers hit it big on the music charts back in the 1960's. With the help of his brothers, Andy embarked upon a solo career, which he was very successful at, even in the short amount of time he created music. He put out a few albums, appeared on many TV shows, & also hosted a variety show called SOLID GOLD that did weekly countdowns of the most popular songs of the time. On occasion, he joined The Bee Gees while on their concert tours or TV specials. Sadly, he died just a few days past his 30th birthday (1988) from a heart condition, which was greatly exacerbated by years of alcohol & drug use. He was the youngest, but the first to pass away. Then twin #1 Maurice died in 2003, followed by the other twin, Robin in 2012. Barry, the oldest boy and his sister, Leslie (first born) are the last two surviving Gibb siblings left...

When I was in jr. high school I had posters all over my bedroom of him. Here I am 53 now and it still makes me so incredibly sad. Barry and Andy were tge dream boats of the brothers. Sex appeal for days. He is so so gorgeous! His brithers (mostly Barry) helped write his songs and they usually did the back-up singing as well. To answer your question about him singing with them: he was much, much younger than his brothers. So, when his career atarted booming The Bee Gee's were already mega stars and established. Andy did sing with them sometimes at their xoncerts, on tv shows, etc. He just wantes his own solo career. Nice reaction!

Andy was only 30 years old when he died in 1988. Some people say he died of a drug overdose, but he didn't. He died of a heart problem caused by years of cocaine use, so drugs indirectly killed him, but it wasn't an overdose. One of his best-known songs was a song he did with Victoria Principal (actress on the long running TV show, Dallas where she played the evil J.R. Ewing's sister-in-law) called "All I have to do is Dream". He and Principal were in a relationship, but she gave him an ultimatum to choose either her or his drugs and sadly he chose his drugs, but he fell into severe depression over the loss of Principal. He really loved Victoria Principal, but he just couldn't stop using drugs and they would end up killing him. Your reaction to him is very typical of the way women reacted to him when he would make live appearances because he was quite the heartthrob and women just couldn't get enough of him. He had the looks, and he had the voice also. You undoubtedly noticed that this song was recorded LIVE in front of a television audience so that means there was no stopping for another take if he messed up and there was no "tweaking" back in the studio to cover any mistakes he made. He was just that good. I would love to see you react to the song he did with Principal. BTW, "All I have to Do is Dream" was originally released by The Everly Brothers in 1960 and I would also love to see you react to their version of this song. The Everly Brothers had magnificent harmony and I think this is best exhibited in their song, "Kentucky". I would love to see you react to that as well. If you are looking for songs to which you can react, try "Hurt" by Johnny Cash, "Tennessee Whiskey" by Chris Stapleton, "You Never Even Call Me By my Name" by David Allan Coe, "Go Rest High on that Mountain" by Vince Gill, "Delta Dawn" by Tanya Tucker, "Somebody Should Leave" by Reba McEntire and "He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones. I just subscribed and I look forward to seeing many reactions from you in the future.

@@nelerhabarber5602 Yes, it was a cardiomyopathy. Result of a viral infection-myocarditis; started with chest pains. He had thought he was on his way to beat any damage that might have been done with his drug addition. He never got over his love for Victoria Principal. He HAD to quit this reliance on drugs. My beloved orange tiger cat, Stuart was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I guess the cause was idiopathic. He died in 1996 at the age of 12. Death of anyone is awful. Its hard to process.

Andy did not usually sing with the Bee Gees because of the age difference. Andy is about 10 years younger than the twins Robin and Maurice. The three older brothers started singing together when they were very young, when Barry was about 9 and the Robin & Maurice were about 5/6 yrs old. So, Andy was not even born yet. The Gibbs left Australia to return the UK to further pursue their singing career in 1967 when Barry was 21 and Robin & Maurice were 18. Andy was only 9-year-old, far too young to join the Bee Gees. As others have posted here, Andy did perform with the Bee Gees sometimes. But he had his own thing going and Barry and the others helped him out a lot.
