Duality and parallels is an ongoing theme in Arcane. Vander betrayed his "brother" Silco. Powder thinks her sister Vi betrayed her by abandoning her. Silco understands deeply when Powder says "She left me. She's not my sister any more".

Totally! I thought Silco saw himself in Powder and he wanted to give her the support he never got when his "betrayal" happened. This show is so cool in the way that even though the villains are villains, you still feel for them.

The "new character" you "hadn't seen before" is Sevika. You saw her confronting Vander in episode two, calling him weak. It is easy to miss some detail, no biggie.

Yeah, Vi and Powder are definitely genuine sisters. As for Claggor and Mylo, I think it is assumed they are brothers, but nothing is confirmed from what I gather. Yeah, Powder's expressions in her breakdown scene are amazing, some refer to it as a 'tantrum', but there is a lot going on with her mental health even at this point in the show. Haha, I definitely see the Ned Stark comparisons with Vandor! XD So true! From what I have heard, Powder's voice actor did the final scene in one take, which is insane considering how young she was, but she did such a good job!! CONGRATZ! You got through episode 3! I am so glad the comments didn't spoil anything. Believe me, there are a lot more twists and turns still to come, but this is definitely a point when the show pivots. The fascinating thing is when it comes to reactions, everyone seems to have a different take on the situation (when I first watched, I was furious with Vi). Believe me, the rest of the show is just as good! :)

If you get a moment, take a look at the painting "Fallen Angel" by Alexandre Cabanel. Arcane uses inspirations from classical art in places, and you may see the expression in Powder's last shot in this one. Thematically, it is also somewhat appropriate.

When Vi sees the monkey head she doesn't not know Powder is the cause of the explosion. She thinks Powder showed up and is now dead. That's why she is crying. Vi has no cause to think Powder created a bomb she doesn't know the crystals are explosive. If she did do you think she would have left them with Powder and not taken them herself? I'm not sure why over 90% of reactors get this scene wrong.

Honestly I could have sworn that Powder told Vi about the crystals at the end of the first episode on the roof, but maybe I'm just imagining things haha I thought since they just argued about Powder not going with them Vi would instantly assume that monkey with crystal = Powder trying to help in her way. Sorry if I got it wrong anyway lol, it's hard to react to something and actually understand along the way 100% without pausing. Usually during editing I get to understand more things. @@MrGuybrush No problem as I said over 90% maybe 95% of reactors say the same thing. Powder DID show Vi the crystals but neither knew they were the cause of he explosion. Powder only figured it out after she threw her bag on the ground during her fit. No way Vi would have let Powder keep the crystals if she thought they were dangerous The scene were Powder shows Vi the crystals Vi asks "What are they?" and Powder answers "I don't know?"

This and people assuming Silco is being manipulative to "recruit" powder. He has nothing to gain from adopting this orphan child and would have probably just killed her after he found Vi and had no more use for her, I mean he was willing to kill Vanders other children I doubt she would have been any difference. But her actions and words force him to genuinely feel pity and empathy as it resonates with his own relationship between himself and vander and that feeling of betrayal. When he says "It's ok, we will show them all" he genuinely means it.

Maybe it helps you to remember: Heimerdinger's name is a combination of Oppenheimer and Schroedinger - as in two of the most well known physicists of the 20th century. That's because when he was made for League of Legends in the game's early period, he kind of embodied the smart sciency kind of trope. Robert Oppenheimer was an American who is most well known for his work in the Manhattan project, as in the creation of the first nuclear bombs during WWII. Also the guy last year's notable movie Oppenheimer (not Barbie) is about. Erwin Schroedinger lived and worked in Vienna and is probably most well known for the thought experiment of Schroedinger's Cat. Among physicists he is probably more associated with Schroedinger's equation which is the first thing you learn about when you first study quantum mechanics.

That is a great show! If you didnt notice, Powder was falling in a blue background (during her explosion) exactly like Silco in the intro to show a "connection" between those characters. They made a lot of stuffs like that - they combine, put scenes/event together, create metaphors or good transitions. Sometimes it's hard to notice in the first watch but you still can Enjoy!!

Little fact, the voice actress for powder was 11yo when she recorded this episode, they only do 2 shoots for the Vi it worked and the following scene with the cry screams and all, and the chose to use the very first attempt... For the hug scene, i understand your questions, but no, powder its not in denial mode, she has some serious attatchment problems and always need someone with her, Vi always was that figure (lossing her real parents), on the bar you can see that Vander don't know to well how to treat her and talks more with Vi... And for the hug to Silco itself, Powder doesnt know who Silco is at the moment, the only bad guy she knows is Deckard (blondie Hulk) is the only one she sees fighting Vi. Sorry if i write somenthing on a wrong way, i don't speak english but i like to practice and learn with this videos and comments haha. Hugs from Argentina man

Great reaction! Watching hot people react to Arcane is my favourite thing on KZbin! And yes, this isn't really a show with 'good' and 'bad' people. Everyone is compromised and conflicted to a degree. The protagonists are flawed and the antagonists are human and relatable.

Great reaction! Felt like seeing it for the first time again through new eyes. Don't worry, everyone gets emotional with this episode. I've watched it many times and it still makes me sad; I think when the song kicks in at the credits it really makes the tears come. When Arcane was released, Netflix uploaded the first 3 episodes, waited a while and uploaded the next 3 and then waited a while again before the final 3. I like thinking of them as a sort of triology of 3 little movies, each their own strengths. You are right to compare this to Red Wedding levels of prestige television - it really is such a solidly well-made piece of media. The game itself has a fantastic setting and I love it, but it's a 5v5 team game with very little story. It's almost better to go in blind to this show, because it stands alone without context. Looking forward to more!

In terms of video editing, I honestly don't see many reactors putting in a timer for time stamps. They might put in a count in or something when they hit play but in most cases when there is a timer on a reactors screen, it is actually the fair use timer. Movies and tv's have an allowed amount of time that is protected where you are allowed to show their content to people. Lots of ppl try skirting it. it works for some and not others. Definitely don't try to skirt past if you ever end up watching any anime. They love legal claims to 3 strike channels. Youttube does have a built in timestamp thing for the player itself where reactors put in things like the intro, reaction start time, and after watching discussion.

@@MrGuybrush Personally, I don't like a timer. But that was more just input from what I see on other channels. I wouldn't make a decision based on my likes or dislikes in this case. I believe you said you were taking advice from others as well before posting. There mostly isn't a wrong answer. KZbin is about doing what you like. It didn't stop me from watching. For me, it's more of a copyright concern for your channel. I am not an expert on those matters but if they say legally, you can show X amount of my video and you have a timer showing you going over it isn't ideal for your defense. You can accomplish your stated goals for people watching along just by marking when you started watching. Then it depends on editing. You can edit both the video and your reaction to chop things into a shorter time - a timer wouldn't matter in those cases. Or you are watching the whole thing and your edits would simply remove the show you are watching from the screen at times, but you watch the whole thing. So if the show is 30 min, you have a 30 min video. In those cases as well, the timer does nothing. The timer only matters very specifically for if you want to visually display fair use to make it harder for copyright claims on the video. Subtitles are generally a good choice. It can be good for a few reasons. Hearing impaired, audio balancing in case you need to mute certain sections, it helps you as a reactor learn names. Some shows the subtitling is bad and would reveal a character name early as a warning. Not a major issue but that is a thing. It includes instead of excludes the audience pool. If you feel subtitles are an issue there is an option of you watching it without subtitles but when you do the editing, you can play the version with the subtitles on. Match timestamps and your good there. I saw someone else mentioning you narrating too much. There is a very delicate balance I can't advise on. People that don't want talking can just watch arcane themselves alone in a room. If they are watching you on KZbin, they want to see your reactions which includes talking. I can say with confidence that generally the intro and discussions after the episode is over KZbin metrics will show a sharp drop off in viewing. So... You need to talk during the episode. The trick is talking at the right time. Some channels have points in the reaction where they pause. Some people like that, some don't. "Lett's React" is a channel that implements that if you want to see an example. Too much pausing can be done. Some people also just don't watch channels with too much pausing. It ruins the flow. If you have concerns about being silent to much, that's an issue that can be fixed with editing though. There are two parts for a reaction, emotional displays on the face, and the words you speak. If you feel you have been quiet too long, one of two things has occurred. 1) something super interesting happened. Probably don't cut that. or 2) Nothing happened. Cut it. People don't miss anything. You don't feel uncomfortable with the silence. People don't like videos that are unnecessarily long.

Getting good! My only other suggestions would be, no need to narrate too much, guessing what's happening is fine, but let the scene speak for itself too. Also, editing is super hard and takes a long time but if you could edit the muting so that characters' sentences are completed rather than cutting out in the middle sentence, that would make it fantastic. Looking forward to more, this series is superb!

Honestly the real reason why I narrate so much is because I feel bad for having quiet moments in the final video, as I can't leave the show for more than 2-3 seconds without triggering copyright detection. I will definitely try to leave the show sentences as a whole before I start doing cuts. I added the subtitles and timestamps so at least people could situate themselves, but I totally get it. This is a learning process and it gets rough sometimes, but I'm enjoying! Thanks again for watching!

Marcus saved Vi's life? Maybe. Vi has just had an exhausting fight, been blown up, trapped under a metal door, and fallen from a window (with Vander shielding her from the impact) - so, true, she is pretty beaten up. However, Silco and his goons have also been blown up, and saw Vi wipe out about eight of their number within a minute or so - their morale may be a bit low facing her again. Powder is Vi's only priority now, and she is very motivated; if she found a metal bar or pipe and charged them, I feel like there is a pretty good chance they might leave.

Vi didn't have her gauntlets. If she had attempted to rescue Powder she would have been killed and then possibly Powder then too.

"Kill him." (When Vander is trying to strangle Silco on the bridge, with one hand). I'm not sure where your thoughts are here, but Vander is trying his very best to kill Silco - his prime motivation is to protect the family. However, the hand he's using is on the arm Silco deeply stabbed in the flashback... he wears a brace over it, so it hasn't healed properly. Compromised forearm strength would affect his ability to strangle Silco, and he has just been fatally stabbed too. This seems like an intentional storytelling beat - Arcane goes pretty deep with setups and payoffs. Because he betrayed Silco by trying to kill him, he was unable to kill Silco when it mattered.

Yeah you are right, at least that's what most people have said. I guess my editing isn't there yet so the show gets flagged and not the song, if that makes sense. I'm getting better at it haha Episode 4 was way easier for me to edit!
