Parents lived to 82 and 91 but my 2 bros died way too young Younger brother took his own life. I'll never fully get over that. So I can understand how you feel about losing your brother. My heart breaks for you and for your loss. As someone who lost a sister very young and a child young I feel your pain. It takes time but it will get better eventually. You can grieve, cry, scream, pr whatever you need. Time does heal but as someone who has loss I can say that the loss never goes away just gets some easier. I lost my sister over 30 years ago to a tragic accident and my son due to cancer over 10 years ago but they both feel fresh and very new. Hugs and many blessings to you and yours.

Oh JB I’m so so sorry for your loss 😢 This song hits me hard too because it was played last year at my nephews funeral. He died of cot death at 4 weeks old. My brother just found out they are expecting another boy and he is due on what would have been his 1st birthday. I am the oldest of three girls. I lost my middle sister to suicide on December 16, 2019. Shortly after, I came across this song. My sister had problems with substance abuse, mental health issues and eventually, legal problems. She was the mother of two young teens. She was 38 , despite ALL her problems I LOVED HER DEEPLY. I have always been the type of big sister that was protective of my baby sisters. I saw it as a responsibility and felt that it was important that I always do what I could to be there for them. However, even with this mindset and as much as I loved her, I could never have saved my sister from herself. I could only help if she was willing to be receptive and she just wasn't. The last time I saw my sister I was trying to be the calm in the middle of one of her stormy moments. I brought her children to see her and we spent about 4 hours together. I tried to tell her that her life was important to others and told her how much I loved her and wanted her to be happy. I didn't know it would be the last time I would see her and I am fortunate to say that during that last encounter, she told me she loved me too. Every time I hear the line "If I could turn back the clock, I'd make sure the light defeated the dark, I'd spend every hour of every day keeping you safe," my heart hurts. There is the logical part of me that says I couldn't have done more than she allowed me to but the emotional part always wants to say I SHOULD'VE, COULD'VE, WOULD'VE done more had I only knew what would happen. To lose anyone before what we perceive to be "their time" is devastating and I already had a brush with this reality when at 26, I lost my Daddy. He was a few days shy of turning 48 and he was my best friend. I takes a lot of time to process such life changing events. The pain eases but you never really get over it. You simply learn to cope with it in a way that allows you to continue forward. To remember my sister, I have a wreath hung in my home and a keychain she gave me attached to my keys. To remember my Daddy, in my home there are plaques awarded to him for his work in law enforcement on my walls and in my car there is a black glitter covered rose inserted into one of my air vents. This way I have them with me at home and when I am on the go. I feel for you and I know that with your brother's passing it being so recent, that the wounds are at times, unbearable. It's good to be strong for those you love but make sure you have someone who can be strong for you too. Wearing a mask of strength while suffering silently and alone can be detrimental to your own mental, emotional and physical health. This is also something I've had experience with and just want you to know that there isn't anything wrong with having someone you can lean on as well. If your KZbin subscribers are giving you the support you need, do what works for YOU. Just have your own outlet. The times you had with your brother are memories and now those memories are a treasure. You are wrong in thinking that all you have are memories though. Your brother being in your life shaped distinct characteristics of your personality and you go on. He lives in and through you. Despite not being able to see him, you will feel him throughout the rest of your life and the thoughts of how he would be interacting with you will, with time, make you smile and create a new memory of him. I am going to say a prayer for you and your family. May God shelter, keep and provide for you and your family as you grieve and learn to incorporate the continued presence of your brother into your lives in new ways because he is still with you. He ALWAYS will be. ♥
