This episode is basically the recap about most of the characters names and Quirks. Tokuda is not your typical journalist with 'ulterior motives' which makes him a likable character. And it even told us his reason for admiring the heroes. A great personality despite being a one shot side character.

It also set up the theme for the season. All might took all the burden on himself by becoming the symbol of peace while the other heros just filled in. As we follow the professional heros now we start to see how they handle taking the weight. And then how they reassimilate back into life and consolidate their experiences off duty. We also saw from the hero provisional license test there is increased focus on the heros passing working together to take the weight.

Tokoyami _literally has a sapient living shadow creature attached to his body_ Momo does everything short of drawing the circle and clapping by performing FMA alchemy by converting the lipids in her body into other objects...except unlike FMA it doesn't have to be made of the same substance - she can just convert fat cells into _literally anything, including an actual operational cannon and a tracking device_ All of that? Whatever, that's fine. Dude can spawn camera lenses from his body? Get the fuck out of here, bullshit. Really? lol

I mean what ”is” dark shadow, he has some physical matter that makes him considering he can beat up villains so what actually makes up him and how is he a bow to talk. Normally I don’t care about these things since it's fiction but it's just odd that people are now questioning the physics of some of these quirks when ones from the very beginning don’t need a complex explanation or realistic answer to a quirk.

@@brandonlyon730 I don't think it's really that important to find an elaborate explanation as to what Dark Shadow "is", seeing as we don't have anything in real life that we can compare Dark Shadow to, unlike Tokuda's Quirk. He's a solid, sentient shadow, that's it. Besides, the more we apply real world physics to the Quirks in MHA, the less they make sense to us (like, conservation of mass is thrown out of the window, I guess? Etc.). As long as it makes sense in the world of MHA, I can get behind it (Dark Shadow being a talking shadow that can interact with the world is far from being the weirdest thing in their world, I bet).

Everyone of the normies are suspicious of the journalist because of his eyes. They have a dead look in them like he's experienced more of the darker sides of the world and thus his gaze is more hallow than the general populous. This can often be misinterpreted as being evil. It is a popular trope to have the eyes determine whether the character is evil or good and the show tries to counter it by having him have a nice smile. When the journalist smiles a star pops up signifying that he's still hopeful, this is further enforced by his backstory, and also Acid girl even points out his lovely smile. Loved the reaction and gonna continue on watching!

When Suraj brought up that it's not hard to figure out it's Deku all I could think of was the generally accepted idea that everyone knows Bruce Wayne is Batman, basically any villain that tries to learn finds out, it's just that most people don't care. Information about the one horned news anchor guy. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. From what I heard, in his early days of his career, during the news report one of his horns would often block parts of the news footage inserted on the green screen behind him. And Because he was very dedicated to his job he decided to cut off one of his horns so it wouldn't block the footage.
