Gotta admit, Endevour reaching #2 as hero without using any "cheap tricks" or personality changes, just being a great hero on paper by actions, able to save the most amount of people and not just by brute strength but actually saving, as well as stopping the most amount of criminals (Not just simply beating the strongest, but stopping most crimes in general), is pretty impressive, and that no other hero that is simply close enough to his spot but is more like All Might has been able to surpass. But what Endevour means by the gap between him and All Might is more in terms of what Endevour focuses on being the best on, rather than it being about him simply lacking All Might's attitude he'd be close. Villains don't really care much about All Might's personality, not without the power he backs it up with, and it's that power to save so many people and beat so many villains and criminals that Endevour just couldn't meet. Not just him, but he knew that since he was #2 and he beat every other hero, no one could surpass All Might. That said, Endevour certainly is lacking that "something", not charisma but appearing as a hopeful symbol, and it'll be interesting to see him grow. I do really like him as a character as there's more to him than meets the eye.

Yeah Endeavor doesn't give two shits about the actual ranking. He wants to be the strongest. He knows by acting nice and cuddly he might have even had a better shot at it, of course he knows it, he's been in the business for 30 years :D And no... Allmight as far as we know did not beat more criminals and save more lives as far as we know. Talking about 'incidents' (which I always assumed meant both taking down criminals and saving lives, fighting and rescueing). Endeavor solved more in the HISTORY of japan. that includes All Might. It's difficult to say who saved more lives, tbh. I think All Might hat bigger magnitude of incidents and more powerful villains... but that doesn't necessarily translate to more lives / more villains. I actually believe that's part of the frustration for Endeavor. Because ON PAPER he did more than All Might, yet everybody and he himself know that he doesn't compare.

I strongly agree, Endeavour had a whirlwind of a life bcs his inferiority complex to All migh and he made so many mistakes in that process of becoming 2nd place. However he is trying to make things right and think rationally now currently people arent looking for some one to take All mights place as a symbol of peace or surpass him, Endeavour understood that, People are just looking for a some light to feel warm during this cold winter that started after the sun was gone....a flame of hope, and Endeavour have to light that flame now .

Endeavour only wanted to be #1 factually as in the strongest most powerful hero with the most wins. If he just wanted the title of #1 hero which is based largely on popularity he could have been nice to everyone. Instead he chose a different path and did everything he could to beat All Might which lead to him becoming angry and violent

The best example of Bakugo's mother being 'abusive' is that the one time we see her (just after Katsuki was recovered from being _kidnapped_ mind you), she hits him multiple times (in the span of a few minutes and in front of people he respects too) and blames him for getting himself caught. The scene itself is initially comedic, but after understanding his feelings better in Kacchan vs Deku 2, where he admits he blames himself for ending All Might and that he's unable to stop thinking about it, it paints the original scene with his mom in a sadder light. Are there far more abusive parents? Absolutely. Bakugo doesn't even consider his mom abusive and she is in a somewhat grey area since there are cultures where physical discipline is acceptable and she's likely emotionally ignorant herself, unable to recognize her son's pain around what happened. But there should be no doubt that Bakugo has learned that yelling and getting physical is acceptable from his mother. As a side note, I'm still sad they opted not to show a flashback in this episode (originally in the manga) where Bakugo's arguing pro-physical discipline and Todoroki disagrees. Bakugo recalls Todoroki's story of his home life that he overheard at the sports festival and instantly backs down, recognizing Todoroki's personal pain around physical abuse from an adult. Instead, he jeers at Todoroki to show him how to do it better in order to hide the fact that he gave up his argument and showing that he can be sensitive to others in his own way. It shows that he's starting to be more considerate of other people's feelings and is some of the payoff of Bakugo having overheard Todoroki's past.

mitsuki definitely could have worded her words better but she meant well. she's talking to _bakugou_ here. the guy who wont listen to you unless you beat his ass and match his aggression. mitsuki is obviously not afraid to fight back with her son. she was basically telling him that there _will_ be people stronger than him and he should know that. he needs to stop thinking he's an unstoppable force which resulted in "it's your fault you got kidnapped because you think you're all that. you need to get stronger." she knows she, and way too many others, have praised him way to fucking much about how powerful and cool his quirk is. all that praise went to his head and mitsuki acknowledges that she was in the wrong. i definitely dont think she's as abusive as everyone is making her out to be. you can tell she actually cares about her son

I think the version of abuse is different. Bakugo is more or less referring to more physical disciplinary action. While Todoroki's father was actually abusive; physically and mentally. Bakugo's mother even said that after he got his quirk he became a handful. He would have likely wound up like those kids, but if nothing else Bakugo seems to respect his mother, not fear her. That's the biggest difference between him and Todoroki. Bakugo didn't say that he was abused, the way he phrased it sounded more like he was just sternly disciplined and that some violence could be helpful in certain situations. He has the old view of parenthood while Endeavor was just taking his "failures" out on his son and relentlessly. There's a big difference from a smack here and there for having a smart mouth and being sucker-punched repeatedly until you puke reason or no.

Intent is not necessary in abuse. Bakugo's mom clearly loves her son. She wants what's best for him. She has still done a LOT of damage to him, psychologically. She has anger issues, relies on physical dominance, threats, and insults to impose her strength, belittles the strength of others while amplifying their weaknesses, and takes no responsibility for the negative results of things that are her responsibility. Bakugo may have gotten his superiority complex elsewhere, but his inferiority complex, self doubt, communication and social issues, trouble accepting help, or opening up, or being honest about his feelings, or his trust issues... all of that seems to be largely learned behaviour from his mother. She was the strong parent in his life, so he modeled his idea of strength after her. She uses yelling, physical posturing and (controlled/mild) violence, and insults to assert her authority. So does he. She looks down on her husband for playing peacekeeper, he look down on Deku for playing peacekeeper. She maximizes his weaknesses, while minimizing his strengths in the way she talks about him, he maximizes the weaknesses of others and minimizes their strengths when talking about them. She is blind to how her behaviour affects him. He is blind to how his behaviour affects others. It is actually kind of astonishing that Bakugo values owning up to his own actions, fighting fair (he has never gone for a crippling cheap shot, or kept punching after an opponent is down and out), and refuses to take credit for any success falsely attributed to him. These are strengths in him that I admire, but that his mother didn't take into account when labeling him a problem child. A lot of kids in Bakugo's position would have grown to resent and hate their mother, to ignore and deny any and all critique or criticism from others, and to happily allow false praise to fill that void. Bakugo doesn't. He respects his mother and takes her criticism to heart. He internalizes all of it, along with her methods of showing strength. Bakugo wants to be the #1 HERO... Bakugo NEEDS to be acknowledged of being worthy and earning his place as the #1 hero, because his mother never acknowledged him as being worthy.

@@Taveren I disagree with pretty much everything you just said. Firstly, Bakugo's Dad wasn't forced into the relationship with Mitsuki; she simply pursued him rather aggressively. It's nothing different than guys going after the girls they like and it's definitely unlike whatever kind of relationship Endeavor has with his wife. Be that as it may, they both clearly love each other and their son, and the fact is that Mitsuki is simply the dominant one in their relationship. Secondly, I think what the author is trying to parallel here is the personality similarities between Mitsuki and Katsuki i.e., they're both hotheaded and clearly has short tempers. Although, it seems like Mitsuki has much more handle on her temper and she seems a bit more rational than her son. And finally, where is this hypocrisy you speak of? I don't see it. I don't think anyone is more likely to be okay with abuse if it done by the mother. You could probably characterize this as casual abuse, but in my opinion, this seems more like aggressive parenting. Children of angry parents are more likely to be angry themselves. That's what I see here.

But Bakugo is lowkey is angry and toxic too. That’s the whole reason he’s getting character development, and changing himself around. Hori even confirmed that Bakugo has no trauma (as of rn), and he’s not from an abusive household. Most of the time, he’s just getting disciplined, and yelled at. And it’s kind of exaggerated because it’s anime, and a lot of anime’s has been doing it for years. So yes, Bakugo’s childhood was very much normal. Him and his mother just act so similarly, they collide. But everyone can interpret it differently.

I usually don't leave comments because I assume someone else within the fandom will inform you ( plus these videos are tech behind where you actually are in the series ) but I just wanted to make this clear. Bakugo was abused as a kid, yes his mother was nowhere near as bad as Endeavor but it's abuse un the less. This is why I hate that it was played for laughs when your first introduced to Bakugo's mother. She beat him aside the head and told him it's his own fault for getting kidnapped and not being strong enough. Do you honestly think that's the best thing for a kid who suffers from an inferiority complex to hear? And we know shes been like this all his life because kids learn from example and look how Bakugo turned out. Todoroki is a great example of the extreme side of abuse but Bakugo is the best example of subtle abusive which in the real world tends to go by unnoticed and because of that leaves even deeper psychological issues.

I was genuinely wondering what your reaction to real Camie would be. Funny how Marketa and Chris, the seemingly "open-minded" types are the most narrow minded in regards to Endeavors behavioral problem, and him questioning himself, seemingly willing to change. Endeavor just doesn't act nice in order to gain favor from others, that's not him. Has he been over a long period of time been an asshole - yes, does he have reasons for them, yes, do that justify it, no - but he's TRYING to open his mind to change. It always seems to me like Marketa and Chris view themselves as the most virtuous people, and they're the standard for what a good person is - the word I'm looking for is probably "self-righteous". I'm presuming a lot here based on how I perceive them, so no hate meant for anyone, but it's something I wanted to address.
