@ I have to disagree with you there. It's true that Bakugo's disposition doesn't really improve until he and Midoriya fight it out and he bares his emotional turmoil, but he goes from seeming like a villain to a minimum anti-hero at the USJ. His friendship with Kirishima starts when they team up to fight off the villains, and we see his first real selfless and heroic act when he and Shoto jump in to save All Might. He becomes more three dimensional by the end of season 1.

@ His arc literally started moving from S1 Ep8 even titled "Bakugo's Startline". The breakdown in S3 would be an unearned moment if it just happened without growth before. Bakugo would have to be developed and progressed significantly enough to even have a moment like that which he has, shown through his actions and words (these are small details that are shown consistently btw) over the course of the 3 seasons. He's not just angry all the time for no reason. The fact that you are saying it's stupid for him to be liked so early on because you believe he didn't grow significantly and trying to invalidate other peoples feelings towards his moments is just being an ass because of a character you don't seem to like.

Principal Nezu is (so far) the only case of an animal who obtained a quirk. He use to be one of those mice that are in a lab that people experimented on. Now he is a humanoid mouse with a quirk that allows him to think above a normal human level. He is usually happy and since he was a literal lab rat he puts his efforts in guiding people to be their best selves in a safe environment (hence principal), yes he did break loose in the kids exam but you cant say he hurt anyone even accidentally, he wont let anything he does hurt people like he was.

There's a meta reason to doubt him, it's a trope in anime and other types of media. But of course, as usual, Bakugo just explodes through all cliches and pre-conceived expectations.

Not to mention that the one thing Bakugo hates above all else is other people telling him what to do. Telling him to do something is the best way to make sure he doesn't do it. ^^

@@CDexie I can agree with that, but at the same time, I've been watching anime for 20 years, and while Bakugo is not the protagonist he has the hero protagonist archetype mixed in. He reminds me of Killua in a sense, although he is darker than a typical shounen protag, he is at the end of the day, Undoubtedly Good.

@@b0kunol "for some reason"? I can list a whole lot of reasons why people hated the early Bakugo. Let's just start with YEARS of mental and physical abuse towards Midoriya for as well as destroying his stuff. Or that he has literally no reason to be such a massive asshole in the first place, other than an over-inflated ego from his strong quirk and fanclub. Unlike the usual anime bullies, he has a perfectly healthy and fine family and not a hint of tragedy in his past. Thankfully he grows out of his worst habits over time, but the first two seasons it is very well justified to outright hate Bakugo. Hell, even most of the villains are more sympathetic than early-series Bakugo.

This episode is really underrated. The line the students cross take trying to save Bakugo, Deku hearing the Doctor talk about his arms, the thank letter, I could go on but this episode really swings your emotions.

Something funny (and a bit sad) about the scene where they disguised themselves to avoid being recognized is that you can see that Yaoyorozu was holdiing the same hair spray that she used for the commercial that she made during her internship.

Everyone always suspects that the Principal is the rat just because he is a rodent, that is discrimination. :( Bakugo doesn't share any traits with Anakin, he's more similar to Vegeta honestly. Shigaraki always says "Father" when he looks at that hand he uses as an ornament, and we must not forget that in the second season he had a small flashback where a severed hand was seen in a pool of blood.

I've always disliked Tsu's argument: Breaking the rules makes you villains, no matter morals. Where laws and morals can be different as laws can be unjust or immoral, but even on top of that the whole time we've learned that the hero society isn't based off of Good morals = Hero, Bad morals = Villain. (I think it's good writing and fits the world, just dislike the opinion) Very much why Stain fought with his beliefs that the "Heroes" are fake, and are only there as a profession to progress and he saw that as selfish, just like villains, only they don't break the law. It's definitely brought up a lot, but it's an interesting focal point, are Heroes meant to sit idly if they can't legally fight? Or will their "feet just move on their own"

@@recker198 well, you can see the pro heroes more as emergency personnel, more so than a straight up hero. I guess a lot of emergency response are heroes really, which is why the "get paid to save" doesn't disqualify them, it only means some will be in the job for money. When someone doesn't have a license to be a hero, yet they still save someone, they are still a hero. Just because they break the law, doesn't mean they are villains. So the real issue here is what determines a hero or villain in the MHA world is flawed as one who saves others at their own expense, license or not is still a hero. Them going out to rescue Bakugo is "selfish" but they are still doing it to save someone else at their own expense. Villains would be more using powers at the expense of others, either via endangerment or for pure self gain, which none of the main characters ever really do.
