My Hero Academia - Reaction - S3E15 - The Test

UA is regarded as the most famous Hero school in Japan, with Shiketsu being 2nd and the best in the west of the country. The Sports Festival is a UA event only, no other school participates. There are separate events for all 3 academic years though, and we only saw the 1st year students' competition. If they don't pass, they can just take the exam again next time. Usually, students only pass this test on their 2nd and/or 3rd year. UA made an exception due to them being repeatedly targetted by Villains already, and needing to protect themselves legally. One upside is that they get more shots at earning their provisional licences, if needed. The exam is more strict than the usual 50% pass rate due to all the big incidents recently. For example Stain, and most importantly, All Might's retirement. They decided to focus on quality over quantity for the next generation of Heroes, since they need a replacement for the Symbol of Peace.

UA said F that everyone knows their quirks. They're gonna beat them anyways. Not like they're the same as before. Due to them going through so much trouble than everyone else, they're most experienced as well.

Also, once they're pro, Villains can look up their Quirks in the media. So it's a good training to fight against opponents with knowledge of your abilities. edit: Nevermind I forgot that Aizawa said it explicitely

A stopgap solution is usually meant to be a bandaid for a problem. It just stops the current "gap", think like putting gum on a crack in a dam. It'll stop a water leak for now, but you better work out a better long term solution!

Yeah...that's totally not a positive thing to see guys, you want Ochaco to care more about a job than family when her dream job is to help her already existing family. it's moments like this that make the 19th a massive mistake.

Except that Aizawa said that it had a 50% passing rate. So before the year this takes place in, they really didn’t care much at all. The dude even states the reason they made it harder that year specifically is cause of stain.
