MHA's ending is not bad. 1. Deku wanted to be a hero so he can inspire people the same way All Might inspired him. He did not do it for the external rewards or for bitches. He is the embodiment of a true hero: someone willing to sacrifice his own happiness for someone in need. And in the end, he found happiness by being a hero another way, which was the entire point of his character arc, to broaden the definition of a hero. 2. Deku is not just some lowly teacher, he is a teacher at one if the most prestigious hero academies in all of Japan if not the planet, where he not only gets to put his skills in quirk analysis in helping his students, he gets to inspire those same students in the same way he was inspired and in a way tenko never got. 3. Deku is still reckgonize as a legendary hero in the same vein as All Might, Dai recognize him as a living legend, and he did get a statue. The reason why he isn't a 'bigger deal' is because the point of the story was the Final War was a collective effort. Even though Deku was the main catalyst, it took everyone's effort to save all of Japan. The point of the story was that relying on a singular pillar or symbol leads to complacency, and complacency leads to more people like the LOV members being born. That is why its a GOOD thing he is not being worshipped as the #1 hero. 4. The iron man suit prototype costed All Might his entire fortune "BUT THE SuiT took 8 YeArs" It's a battle suit no shit it takes a long time to develop, and the time skip was from his chat with Ochako which included his last 3 years in UA, so it probably took at most 6. And one other thing is that if Momo, Iida, Kirishima, and Shoto wanted to help, they have to literally give Almost ALL OF THEIR MONEY, to make Deku's suit, not to mention, Momo, Iida, Kirishima, and Shoto got their own life to live. 5) Why do people equate "Great Hero", or even "Greatest Hero" like someone of tangible title, like Hokage or Pirate King? I think saving the world from the Greatest villan in history as well as changing the entire culture of heroes in general is worthy of the greatest hero title, even if it's not said outright (even though All Might himself called Deku a hero that surpassed him) 6) And about the quirkless hero thing BEING A QUIRKLESS PRO HERO IS IMPOSSIBLE, THE SERIES NEVER SAID IT WAS POSSIBLE First the system was just not designed with quirkless people in mind, the entire point of having a license is to essentially being able to use quirk freely. Second there has been no provable cases where being a quirkless hero can work consistently on the same levels of pros. And please spare me the examples of people like Toga and Stain, who have 'Weak Quirks', as if just because they don't fire DBZ style ki blasts means their abilities are as useful as a quirkless person. I don't want to even hear about knuckleduster from the spinoff, who actually shows why such a route is not long term sustainable and reckless because he was still getting beat down alot and had to rely on all sorts of weaponry as well as drugs, very un-deku like things to do. (Not to mention he was a vigilante. ILLEGAL) And what about Mirio or Ragdoll when they lost their quirks, did they just "Go To the Gym Bro"? No, they stopped pursuing their careers until they got their quirks. 6.5) The reason Deku was so cool with not being a pro anymore was apart if his arc, to broaden his perspective of what heroes are. The reason why he goes so far and breaks his body IS FOR OTHER PEOPLE, SELFLESSNESS WAS HIS CORE CHARACTER TRAIT. His arc is realizing he can't bear the weight of being a symbol alone and needs to put his trust in his friends to bear the weight with him (the whole point of the vigilante arc, and when the shift to "we became great heroes" began). And as stated above, being a Quirkless hero is tantamount to suicide, and would be less about Deku making a difference, and more for his own ego, which is probably why he decided to use his experience and skill set to be a S-class hero, instead if a C-D class hero. 7) Japan has been through a war, so it's understandable they aren't going to give resources out willy nilly, even to people like Deku. Although he was incredibly instrumental in the war, he wasn't the only hero who needs assistance, let alone only citizen Overall, I think the ending followed through on most of the themes it played out. And some other things I wanna add, if you payed attention to the Final War Arc in the fight between All Might with his iron suit and All For One, All Might's with his iron suit was kinda stronger than his prime form, so basically the suit Deku got might be stronger than his prime form. And lastly, Deku's couldn’t talk to his friends as much because their breaks don't coincide as often as their meetings in U.A because his friends are PRO HEROES and Deku is a DAMN TEACHER. And Deku's dad is obviously DEAD if he didn't appear in THE WHOLE SERIES. Anyways, some parts of my comment was from @pizzaa720, so credits to him.

I'm not gonna lie. I actually liked the ending untill the last 3 pages. Deku sacrificed One for All, the literal physical representation of his dream of being a hero, to save the entire world from greatest evil to exist. Aftwards, he was content on being a teacher at UA for 8 years because the overall messaging of the story. You too can be a hero in your own way and instead fighting or saving others, Deku thinks teaching the future suits him best in a post All Might hero society. But no, those last 3 pages took that messaging and throws it into the trash with Deku accepting that suit. This implies that Deku still wanted to be a hero that fights and saves but did NOTHING to achieve it. Didn't even try to be a police officer or a paramedic. He seen characters like Eraserhead, Stain, Himiko, Nighteye and how far physical ability can take you. He's friends with both Mei AND Melissa and didnt ask for no gear what so ever? Nope just did nothing until someone else hands him the overpowered boon. Deku is essentially the SAME character he was at the start at the series.

He lacks the drive to be proactive, in the beginning he wanted to be a hero yet never trained his body in any form only when all might offered him a quirk did he start training and the same thing here in the end which you pointed out he basically gave up until bakugou and all might gave him the power suit. That would have made it so damn interesting. Plus, we could have seen his analytical side a lot more like how he was in the beginning. He could have gone to the U.S. after high school on a "find my dad" quest, or maybe his dad sends him a message through some secret built in thing in his suit that the genius girl (always forget her name) put in without telling him at the request of the dad. Then again, anyone, anywhere, could make a knockoff series that retells the events of the story with better developed characters while taking the "no powers MC" route at the end. An idea that just popped into my head was what if Deku didn't kill Shigi and instead they saved him, he ends up with both OFA and AFO and goes on a long redemption arc solving the quirk singularity one person at a time with the now quirkless MC as his "guy in the chair" that's constantly keeping him motivated and on the straight an narrow. Turn him into a pacifist with depression due to his fear of becoming who he used to be and constantly hearing negative sentiments about who he used to be. Idk, maybe he dawns a mask live as a no name "messiah" type person, then towards the middle of the story something happens that causes his mask the break, revealing who he is on live TV due to the shadow villain setting it all up. The shadow villain could be someone born quirkless, similar to Deku but rejected like Shigi. Shit, have his have Deku's dad under his control due to some major blackmail thing. The Shigi character then has to go into hiding out of fear, but is "kidnapped" by a group of people who actually respect him for working so hard to make amends and want to help him do good work. So, they stage an "execution" of the Shigi character so that people think he's dead but in reality Shigi becomes their "guy in the chair" while they use his quirk to continue solving the quirk singularity. Then, after some time has passed, they release a virus that infects everyone with bits of the combined AFO and OFA so that now everyone's body can handle multiple quirks and OP quirks while also having them be able to give and take any of them. Then idk, a 3rd series where it's everyone's kids now living a post "miracle virus" world. Or not, lol.

To be honest the series should have ended with All might having a last standing with All for one Dying and Deku being the new symbol of peace with his powers intact; It would be a more meaning full ending and Deku and Urakaka having a family would be a better ending than the one we got; Anybody saying the ending was good is either coping or lying. Got his revenge on his uncle sukuna for all the pain and suffering he put him and megumi through and avenged the countless lives lost in the shabuya arc and his Brother, choso(He got help yes, But that shouldn't be counted against him.). 2. Got a full kit of abilities such as Shrine(soul dismantle, cleave), Blood manipulation, RCT, Simple domain, The ability to strike the soul, and a still unnamed and unexplained but (seemingly)Complete Domain expansion on the first try. 3. Wasn't sidelined for once, Actually had awesome moments and gave us a glimpse of his past, Letting go of his cog mindset and he finally SMILED a couple of times(Megumi fighting back, and nobara's return) Something he didn't do ever since the shabuya arc. 4. And finally, HE got to land the final blow on sukuna and megumi is finally saved. Finally, He still gets a good ending whether he lives or dies(He gets to hang out with Gojo and the others in the afterlife).

Imo MHA was carried by Quirks originally being a fairly unique and thought out power system and it's female characters And towards the end it discarded the part of the cast people cared about and everything that made Quirks unique and interesting Deku was always a bad protagonist there were other characters to hide that from people in the beginning, but after the time skip Deku's failure as a character for this story, he's doesn't have the soul of a hero like Mirio, Knuckle Duster, or Asta And the infuriating part is, the ending is what the entire story SHOULD have been, Deku quirkless using technology to be a quirkless hero and proving himself as All-might's successor getting OFA at the very end

@@wilfridekoue1405 Yeah. He had so much potential but threw it all away. For all we know, maybe Horikoshi is working on a second series where Deku becomes a hero again without his quirks. But you also have to think about it, due to Japanese society the publishers don't even like things that go too far against the grain. One Piece is the most anti establishment story they have but it's not set in reality so it's ok, unlike Akumetsu. That manga will most likely never get an anime unless a random studio picks it up due to it's content and what it might inspire.

My problem with MHA, and the last chapter only confirmed it, is that Deku wasn't a protagonist. He could never be the hero without one for all. The moment he lost the power, he just couldn't do anything. It took everyone putting money together to give him a power suit so he could go back to pursuing his dream. You can't even say that being a hero without powers is too hard or dangerous, because that's saying that Eraser and Shinzo were destined to fail too. And really fucks with me, because the general setup, even the end, is very close to Assassination Classroom, a manga that does everything MHA wanted to do better and didn't shaft the secondary characters in the way.

I've watched and read MHA, and some parts of the story were nice while it lasted but overall Horikoshi's writing isn't that good and the story is also a rip off of Naruto in many aspects. Deku is designed to be this Naruto type of character but a worse version of him. Aizawa is an underwhelming version of Kakashi, even his past is a rip off of Kakashi with his childhood friend turning evil (Kurogiri/Obito). Midnight dying is Asuma's death from Naruto (then we watch side characters grieve their dead mentor). The arcs aren't that interesting or just rip off of Naruto/Chunin Exam. There's also almost no stakes in MHA and deaths don't matter. At least Naruto was able to make the deaths feel real in certain aspects. You are right in your other parts of your criticism. There's not anything MHA does that the other shows/series hasn't done (with better writing) already. The new gen of shounen sucks in general. I only have hopes for HXH since Togashi isn't a coward nor is afraid of going deeper into the different ways of exploring stuff and exploring his characters in the story. Meanwhile Hori chickens out from so many sht and ends up making everything underwhelming or uninteresting. It also made Deku's character worse in the end and killed the stakes. I hope future series will learn from the mistakes of this generation so they will not end up doing the same mistakes anymore.

The main problem with the manga, is a lot of great set up for little to no payoff, and trying to stuff it all in 1 year Character relationships Quirk developments World building It’s clear that the author had a lot of things he wanted to dive into in the manga but either rushed through them in the end or couldn’t commit. I believe the decisions might’ve been influenced by editor feedback and backlash he got from the Japanese fans with MVA arc and giving the villains motivations (apparently a lot of people didn’t like that). I disagree with the no fights thing, it’s more that MHA’s style is less choregraphical and continuous, instead more chaotic and disjointed kinda like One piece fights can be

Don't blame you for being annoyed as the worst part as the ending was really messed up especially since My Hero Vigilant had ended before the main series ended (it was a spin off prequal) and it gave the series TWO ENDINGS that made perfect sense and would have fit perfectly for how that series could have ended... and they couldn't even stick a basic or average ending to Academia. Koichi Haimawari is someone who failed to get a hero's licenses, but still tries to run around and do good. Though this is illegal due to lack of hero's licenses. His story mirror's Deku's in similar and different ways as we even get an early author girl tease ship at the start of the story that kind of claims this is the ending ship. What is made worse... was how My Hero Vigilant had essentially two endings. The first was the normal route ending where it showed that it could have ended with Koichi ending up with a normal job (possibly a teacher or something) and hung up the cape, got the girl, and would even look back on his Vigilant days in a mixture of embarrassment and good cheer. A satisfying ending that would have made sense for our boy who wants to be a hero and do good things. Then we get the main bad guy fight, the chaos that happens, and spoilers.... Spolier Hero boy getting into a bit of a mess so he gets shipped to the USA due to the friends he made along the way. Mostly what he did was illegal due to no Hero Licenses so he get's shipped to the USA to do training, hero work, and get an official hero licenses. Thus explaining why our boy isn't in japan during the main manga run while also letting him achieve his dream... Now let's compare his start to how Deku starts and end. Deku starts by saying that he becomes the number one hero with the promise by the end of the series that he becomes the number one hero. Then he loses his power. Gets no fame. yes he becomes a teacher at the school, but at that point it's more of a question of... if it was given to him out of pity. No seriously. He was left at MAKE CHILDERN INTO OFFICAL LICENSES HEROES so anything he learned would be utterly useless to him because they never gave him the means to be a super hero! So all that leaves is someone to help run or teach classes! Really didn't help that some of the promotion work done in japan has Deku as a pizza boy after he finished high school really giving the 'loser' tag especially since he didn't even get the girl! 6 years! No girl, his friends do give him a suit later on, but that is 6 years without ANY TRAINING DONE and him possibly starting on the bottom of the rung in the hero game.... as his happy ending when the story started with him explaining how he became the number 1 hero. They could have easily fixed that by having it cut leaving it a mystery of what he does after the battle or maybe have him get the suit earlier since they made ALL MIGHT a suit during the battle! Koichi had 2 endings that made perfect sense for him. Deku had an ending which felt wasted... especially since Vigilant ended before Academia and they could have EASILY shipped Deku to the USA to work with Melissa Shield (blond girl, no quirk, makes hero gear) in order to make a new suit, make stuff to help other heroes, or even have the two of them get together since uraraka never ended up with Deku as he was confirmed to be SINGLE by the end of the series! Thus the 'no get together' joke being translated as most of his friends ditching him when he lost his powers and them ending up with someone else adding NTR to the theme... as seriously... two of them are rich and one of them can make stuff for FREE and only Deku's childhood friend/rival was the one who threw the most money to give Deku his own suit to play hero... and it's play as being a hero as that is 6 years without any training meaning his skills are rusted at best especially since he had to learn how to operate the suit... which he might not even have the money to repair the moment it gets damaged in a fight... since he didn't build it and doesn't know how it works because it was built by someone else and handed to him as a gift. This isn't Deku with an Iron Man suit. This is Deku with a 'fun hero time suit' that he can't fix because he didn't build it, can't fix because he doesn't know how it works, can't fix because he doesn't have the money to hire someone to repair it... and can't fix because it's been 6 years since he trained as a hero. Find ANYONE who played a sport back in high school or collage who hasn't played sports professionally for 6 years... and then try and see how effective they are at the game. that is 6 freaking YEARS where he had to give up his dream, work at a desk teaching students hero related info from a text book and having to grade tests... which doesn't require a lot of physical activity and no clear warning that maybe he should brush up on his basics because his friends bought him a new suit. Koichi started as a nobody who failed to become an official hero and ended as someone who became an official hero in the USA. Deku started as a nobody... and ended as a teacher which may have been a sympathy job from the principle who knew Deku got no fame or money and thus probably wouldn't have a career outside of the school. Koichi became someone. Deku was left on the sympathy of others as he peeked before High School even ended.

I really didn’t like how the manga story just takes place in the same year, he should’ve made them advance at least to their last year to make their power progression more believable. Also Stars and Stripes was done dirty. It’s a shame cuz the first season was really promising.

Man, I started watching My Hero Academia when I was in elementary school, and this is literally one of my favorite animes ever, but damn the way that they did Deku and all the other things is just embarrassing. It's like I wasted my childhood, my middle school years, and my high school years watching this anime. It's like Deku became a punching bag because he went from being quirkness, working twice as hard to gain his powers, fighting and beating some of the greatest villains in the universe, going throught hell and back, becoming a great hero and saving the world to now becoming a damn teacher and not getting any recognition for saving the world and he didn't even get together with Urakara, even though everyone knew that these two has a thing for each other and that didn't even happen. I feel so bad for my boy Deku

The true disappointment I find in this ending is that the lesson of giving up what was given to you because you never needed it in the first place IS a great morel for a story... IF DONE CORRECTLY. MHA does NOT do this lesson justice in any sense of the word to me. Deku throughout the entire series was always defined by him having One For All from the fact he needed a Quirk to become a hero, to need a Quirk in order to even survive the training of the school, to need a Quirk to face down the "villains", to need to train himself to use his Quirk to continue his education, all the way to needing One For All to defeat All For One. And with the loss of the very thing that defined Deku throughout this entire manga is like losing the thing what made him who he was. That wasn't the message the author tried to make but then he should've made the boy more than a secondary character in his own story. He needed to learn his own lessons, make his own decisions, go on his own journey of self reflection, learn of his own morel compass, and all of it ON HIS OWN! The moment the plot had to forcefully smash the lessons of the story into Deku's face like a steel pipe Deku became a reactive protagonist rather than an active one and those are the most BORING protagonists you can make unless done by someone who can do the job right. To me this was meant to be the core morel of the MHA story and it was fumbled so badly, not to mention EVERYTHING ELSE that was wrong with the story as well but I don't think I have the time, energy, and finger strength to type it all down here...

His fight with afo was years before the series start and he still maintained the top spot for years. I read the whole thing deku says after jumping up to ochako that the Embers are almost gone. Like I said it would've been better if after that final battle ofa was just gone. It never says deku used ofa to help with reconstruction it could be but I throw that in the maybe file. I read the whole manga I'm not gonna let someone just say you didn't read it. Not even to say ofa was never a quirk to complete afo not once did it say that. Sorry, but, there are some things you got wrong: Deku saved Japan if not the whole WORLD, he became the GREATEST hero in HISTORY, and changed the hero industry and civilians for the better. Deku wanted to be a hero so he can help and save people and make them smile the same way All Might did, he did not do it for the external rewards or for btches. He also didn't want to become the "NuMbeR oNe HeRo". He is the embodiment of a true hero: someone willing to sacrifice his own happiness for someone in need. And in the end, he found happiness by being a hero another way, which was the entire point of his character arc, to broaden the definition of a hero. Deku literally works at U.A as a Hero Course teacher to teach the next generation to become heroes, and plus, he has a lot of experience in being a hero so him being a teacher is a good job for him. Deku can't meet his friends as much because their breaks don't coincide as often as their meetings in U.A because they are now ADULTS and life is HARD in ADULTHOOD, and plus, Deku is a teacher in the most prestigious hero academies in all of Japan if not the planet, and Japan's teachers are highly respected and Deku was not depressed being a teacher. His friends are pro heroes too, so makes sense why Deku couldn't meet them as often. And one other thing is that the manga didn't say they couldn't talk, so they were probably in touch All Might, Shields(Melissa and David), Mei Hatsume, Deku's friends, and EVEN Bakugo spent 7-5 YEARS worth of their SAVINGS and RESOURCES to help Deku get the strongest hero suit in MHA's existence so Deku could continue being a hero. And before you say "BuT iT tOOk EiGhT yeArs" It's a battle suit no sht it takes a long time to develop, and the time skip was from his chat with Ochako which included his last 3-2 years in UA, so it probably took at most 7-5. And again, before you say "BuT thE gOVerNmEnt AnD tHE cItIZeNs CouLD hAvE HELped" Japan has been through a war, so it's understandable they aren't going to give resources out willy nilly, even to people like Deku. Although he was incredibly instrumental in the war, he wasn't the only hero who needs assistance, let alone only citizen. If you payed attention in the Final War Arc in the fight between All Might with his iron suit and All For One, All Might's iron suit was stronger than his own prime form, and the suit Deku got is like All Might's iron man suit. Plus, the suit might be powerful since it took 7-5 years. Some other things I wanna add is that there is a statue of Class 1-A in the final chapter, so Deku is probably there too, so Deku got his own statue with his friends. Lastly, Ochako has Deku's from vigilante arc mask on her neck and she got his gloves too in the final chapter, so they probably got together, and EVEN if they didn't, they are still friends anyway.

I looked the series until the vestiges got introduced. After that it just kinda kept getting worse until i just wanted it to end. I never really liked deku that much but i thought in time he would develope into a bad ass and instead he just started relying on the vestiges and extra abilities. I think the big issue is shigaraki and all for one should of been dealt with earlier in the series and new villains should of came up. Deku not being recognized as the person who played the most important role in defeating AFO and just getting the shortest end of the stick all together. By the looks of it, Hori didn’t know what to do afterwards which makes you question what was the point of the decision to begin with? “It followed the themes” Yeah, unbearably. It didn’t even have to be OFA, they could’ve just made it so he got his own as a reward for everything he’s done, but that’s only how I wished it had went.

Could have been better if hori make it that afo successful in stealing deku ofa, but because of that it somehow awaken deku quirk gene and since deku is used in using multiple quirk he's capable to use both his mother and father quirk but at a higher and greater degree Which gives deku an ability of pyrokinesis and telekinesis.

Him gaining a quirk of his own(I prefer telekinesis) to train to its fullest potential for the next 2 years with his friends, allowing him to have his own experience with his OWN quirk! With this concept in mind, they could’ve also made him help quirkless people around the world train their bodies so they can use advanced suits since he’ll be a very influential individual who can actively help people in need. It’ll be like him being a teacher but who those who used to be like him, his dream job.

Ironically deku staying quirkless and using support gear would be a better story. The story about Deku's rise from a nobody to being the first ever quirkless hero while being cliche, would have been better. The fights would go from "I am going to hit as hard as possible using my quirk" to "what can i do to win using the support gear I currently have." Horikoshi took a cliche "rise to greatness from nothing" intro of a story and ruined it by subverting the whole point of the intro by not only giving him power, but by giving him the strongest power. What is even worse is that Horikoshi was so unimpressed by his own subversion of giving power, that he had to give more powers inside the original power so his subversion wouldn't be boring. If you took the mha ending and applied to a "quirkless support gear deku", the ending would make more sense. It is like horikoshi at the very end realized that his subversion was a terrible idea and made the ending a peek of what the story should have been the whole time.

You should read the spin off manga, MHA vigilantes. One of the main character knuckle duster is a guy who's quirk is stolen and become quirkless but he never quit and never give up, he keep doing hero work as vigilante and just like batman he uses tactics and strategy to beat villains but without the advance tech. he is also the guy who makes stain face looks like what it is.

i would rather see deku die than lose his quirk, we spent all that time seeing deku evolve and level up his quirk only for him to lose it and become auraless lmao. im trolling. i think the ending was acceptable and hopefully the author can give more time for the anime to end in a more fulfilling manner.

If it’s so bad then why don’t any of you try and rewrite it or make your own anime/manga series that fallows the same premise. After all, it’s like the old saying goes. “If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself”.
