i'm 17 and i started wearing hijab this year around november. i feel so different. sometimes, i feel like taking it off but i'm glad i'm not the only one feeling this way. as much as i love straightening and styling my hair, i love Allah more. that is why i started wearing hijab now. (:

I can't even begin to explain how amazing this video is. I live is Norway, where fashion is everything, money and branded clothes are displayed and you're looked down at if you're not as "fashionable". For a long time I've given fashion and style my attention, and just been a muslim by name, not by heart. But recently I've got into Islam, alot like you've described in your story, and I'm InshaAllah going to start wearing a hijab when I'm done with this shit school I now attend. I'm going to give up my skin-tight jeans, and those figure-showing outfits. I'm going to stop trying to please the people around me, and instead try to please Allah. Thank you so much for this video, it was the last push I needed towards Allah and the right path. I've seriously been crying whilst watching your video, you're incredible and I'm thankful to Allah for stumbling upon your channel. Thank you sister, I'll always remember your words, and your strength.

Salam sisters please read this story thank you . Im 12 years old and on July 3rd i turn 13. This ramadan marks my 3rd year wearing hijab. I started when i was 10 and in 5th grade. At first i used to wrap it in a way that my neck showed and i would cover up except my neck. I was the only hijabi In the entire school. I was really scared cause i was so young but please remember that it was my choice to wear hijab. A lot of people thought i would quit after like 6 months. I have lasted 3 years and I'm still going strong. I now cover my neck thanks to ruba. She is such an inspiration to me. Im telling my story becuase i live in america and some people aren't as accepting as others. Hijab is so wonderful when i go outside for like one minute to go take out the trash and i dont have hijab on i feel naked. Please dont let anyone force you to wear hijab becuase you need to do it for the right reasons and you need to want to do it. Thank you so much for reading my story @rubazai

Before I say anything, I am not saying what you went through is not bad. It is! I converted in the south (USA) and it almost cost me my life more than once. Everything was ok when nobody knew I was Muslim. Once I covered my hair the lady next door cut my break line in my car, my kid's school nurse was calling child protective services, telling them I beat them so they would take them. The lady from child protective services told me she WANTED to take them, even with no signs of abuse, because teaching them Islam is abuse and they need a good Christian family. A man spit on me in a sprint store, and everyone there stood looking at me. Not to help, but I think to see if I would do something back like they think all Muslims will do. A man ran a red light at hit me and three other cars, but the cops took ALL OF US to the side and made us all agree that I caused the wreck or I would be arrested. I finally moved to California, where around half the women I see wear Hijab. It is not easy to wear Hijab, but even in the south, there is no way anyone can get me to take it off. These bad things are a est from God, so be happy when it happens, and do the right thing. Don't let anyone push you to take it off if you know in your heart that is what you truly want. Besides, if it gets too bad, there is nothing stopping any adult (not in prison) from moving to a better place. Although kids never have it too easy. I feel bad for all girls that have dealt with discrimination, but being tested by God means he loves you and wants you to do right.

That is TRULY awful that people treated you like that. I am a non-Muslim that lives in the Southern USA and I notice people having completely wrong ideas about the Islam religion. I respect all religions equally and it angers me when people say things when they don't know anything at all. Like, who are they to speak for over a billion people? I tend to see a lot of hatred from people whose parents or family are/were in the military- confusing, you would think they would be more aware. I try to speak up for Islam in the truest point of view to stop those who say awful things about it, because love needs to be spread more than lies and hatred. I am truly sorry that you experienced this here :( Unfortunately, I am not surprised, which says a lot about society here.

I am 13 and i started wearing hijab since i was 9.I live in california and i have also faced many problems although i am very young.Sometimes whenever people see me they call me crazy or even terrorist.I was once in a store and a lady came running into me with the cart i was about to break my leg because she ran into me really hard and whenever she hit me she was like thats what you get.I turned around and i told her that our religion does not allow us to harm anyone and its very clear how respectable you are and how rude too.I know at that point i was extremely mad and i shouldnt have told her that.I know that i am young but i have friends and family that always support me alhamdulillah.I advise all the girls to never take their hijab off even if it costs our life.I also learned that you should be around people who support you not people who make you feel down and not proud of your religion. Our religion is the true religion and its the fairest religion ever.I am very proud that i am a muslim and that you soooooo much Ruba for your awesome videos and your great personality you always inspire me to be a better muslim.Thank you so much

This video is truly inspiring... I am a brand new muslim and am learning slowly about just the basics and it scares me to think of how people may treat me when I finally have the courage to wear my hijab all the time. I have worn it to the mosque and once before I converted just to see if there was any difference. I personally know many ill educated people here in America and they get their "knowledge" from the media which makes me so sad. I have always been the type to research things I hear if it sounds harsh or even if it doesn't I check multiple sources. Alhamdulillih that my mom, and my dad and even step mom are all open to my decision to convert. They are all Christians and because of the vast ignorance spread in America about Islam, they have asked me some questions I knew they would eventually ask such as, "Will you cover your head all the time?" (eventually when I am ready) "Are you still going to celebrate the holidays with us?" (you are still my family and I will be with you even if I don't believe what you believe anymore) "Is Islam as violent as it seems?" (No!!!) I am happy to answer all their questions because I know they care about me and just want the best for me, though they do not know much about Islam. I made the decision to stop drinking and smoking and I am very proud of that. The biggest step for a woman I feel is getting to the place where you really do put Allah before everything else including other people's opinions. I think the hijab is a beautiful sign of virtue and loyalty. It takes a lot of courage to wear it especially in countries that are predominantly Christian such as the US. Girls I went to school with who I thought were fine people have come to show actual hostility towards Islam and that is something I will have to face when I finally show the world I am ready to devote my being to Allah in the presence of people such as these. Right now I don't have the strength but I pray for the day when I will have the strength to wear it everyday and not be afraid anymore.

I have never known that muslim women aren't urge to wear hijab. I'm orthodox, so I don't know a lot about you religion and I always think that you must wear it, but I'm happy to find out that it's your own choice to wear or not a hijab. All good, God bless you!

Sister, you may get surprised to know that All the major religions suggest woman to cover their body modestly. Even in the Bible (new Testament). Bible even sets punishment for not wearing hijab or head cover if you may call it. Ref: 1 Corinthians Ch.11, Vrs.5-6 In islam the concept of Hijab is to obey God's commandment, to identify ourselves, to look and be treated decently and to protect and honor our woman. Peace and blessings of Allah (God Almighty) be upon you and all. Good Luck Sister!

This video is FIRE! (that's black american slang for AWESOME!) i CAN'T Believe the crazy stuff they were trying to teach in your school about Islam. Ugh, Americans are pretty bad about misleading ppl against Islam and other cultures too. I don't wear Hijab(yet) and my husband definitely isn't pressuring me. I feel so encouraged by this vid because you really spelled it out clearly. No One can force anyone to do anything. It's all between us and Allah and we have to be ready to take certain steps in our walk of faith in order to do certain things. Such a great vid Sister. Thank you. Xxmakeupisawesomexx Alhamdulillah I've been wearing the hijab since grade 1, and I LOVE it! It makes me feel safe and secure, like someone's protecting me, I guess that's the main objective of the hijab, to protect from the bad eyes of this world. People do ask why I wear "this cloth" on my head, and I give them my religious reasons and they respect that Alhamdulillah. When I was in elementary school people even asked me if I have hair underneath the hijab hahaha... but tbh don't worry about it, Insh'Allah the hijab will define you in a positive way as a Muslim! Stay Blessed x

I think we both have the same kind of stories. No one is force to wear hijab or judge others. I'm 16 and I just start wearing hijab about 5 month ago. Sometimes Shaytan tells me to take it off or just live like others, because there's a lot of people who bother me, even that I live in a free country. But I like to wear hijab, because this world is not forever, and I hope Allah forgive all of us. PEACE

Salam. Your story was very inspiring, Mashallah. I noticed that in the beginning of your video you mentioned you wish to have an older sister. I understand we all need a person close to us with whom we can share our daily life problems. Similar to you I started wearing hijab when I was 10. Living in Islamic country I had many many problem and incidents. One of them was when the headmistress of my school came to my class and took my hijab off in front of everyone because it was not included in the school uniform. I remember I cried all day. But unlike me you seem to be a very strong person at a young age. Every girl who strats wearing hijab has a similar story. Its just to remind you that you are not alone on this path dear. Stay happy :)

The idea of wearing a hijab has crossed my mind a LOT lately... I see girls in my town that are wearing it and I really want to be like them ... I discovered ISLAM by myself nobody forced me or anything and to be honest I'm the first muslim in my family , I have relatives that are born muslims but that don't pray or worship Allah . I've been judged by my relatives when they found out I was interesed in Islam , however I've never and I'll never turn down my religion cuz this is my coise . My relatives have judged me and my mom , cuz when my mom saw what I was doing, when she saw I was interesed about this religon she became muslim too. My "friends" and people that I go to school with are so judgmental so I think on starting to wear the hijab when I go to High school next year, but if that doesn't work I am definitely going to wear it when I will get out of my country when I finish high school . Is like a feeling when I go to mosque wearing a hijab I feel so happy and proud of myself and I used to care if I saw enyone I know on my way there , but now I just don't care and I wish they could see me wearing a hijab :)) I don't know I just really like the idea of wearing it and Inshallah Allah will make my dream come true because in my case , wearing a hijab would really be a dream come true

I was very glad I watched your story. I was curious and had many questions. First off, your experiences have caused you great pain, yet you are stronger as a result. I can tell you must have amazing parents. They're teaching you how to be a true, human being. I agree with you, so many people judge before they understand and know the true facts. I'm glad you know good from bad people. That is key. Thank you for explaining to those who don't know. I'm blessed to have found your channel.

Listening to your story reminds me so much of mine, i'm a afghan girl in Australia, no one in my family wears hijab. i've started wearing it last ramadan, and Alhumdulillah there are many girls in Australia that wear it. I used to feel uncomfortable at first, but now alhumdullialh i feel uncomfortable without it. i had a few thoughts of taking it off, just because of what people thought about me, but i was just cheating on myself, and contradicting my own decisions. Great vid :) xx

A late reply but anyways know that it's Allah whom you want to please, not anyone else. And even though people will always judge you, even the prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the best man to have ever walked the surface of this earth, was judged by other people so don't expect otherwise. Know that it represents them who they are as a person and not you. If they judge you for your look or something else which they have no idea about, then they have an ego problem and are not worthy of caring what they say. But you as a good person should never be like them and if they treat you bitter, treat them in return better. Handle the situation like our beloved prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) handled such situations. Also read the Qur'an, pray your salah, give zakat, all this things will bring you close to Allah (all praise is due to Him) and Allah is all you need in this temporary world. Even the people are temporary so don't care what they say.

MashAllah you are very strong girl. You have obviously gone through a lot and for you to still wear the hijab under those circumstances shows your strength in your iman and in your character! You are a true inspiration. Like you, I never had a sister and I wish I did to help me when I needed it. In the last 6months I have been looking into islam more and falling in love with the religion. InshAllah I hope to take on the hijab soon. Jazakallah for opening up in the video. :) x
