Oh god, this reopened my memories of my first ever Self Ship OC. Funny enough, it was Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls. Little me didn't do it for loving him, little me did it just to DESTROY the floating dorito chip. I remembered making her SUPER overpowered too, like GODDESS level overpowered. And now she's a fully fleshed out Retired God, trying to live her life with her Family, Friends, and her Partner in a world I eventually made and wrote down. But now with the rise of Gravity Falls again, all I can think about now is their interaction going like "YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD!" "I got better?"

These are all so cute. The community post was a bit too vague on what kind of self-shipping we were talking about for me to give my full thoughts, but yeah. Self-shipping is completely fine and harmless fun, even if it isn’t always the most nuanced and developed. And for writers and especially artists, doing this sort of thing develops their skills in designing and storytelling. It’s actually pretty important in my opinion to explore yourself and develop your skills as you keep practicing. To quote Red from OSP, “People write fan fic for fun. And if your first oc happens to be you with better hair, then whatever man. You do you.”

Man this brought back memories of little me self shipping myself with characters from the DreamSMP. She somehow had magic despite that not even being to happen in this world, some of the things she did would entirely break cannon that shouldn’t have even been implemented, and the characters I shipped her with were canonically gay in the server and in real life, which now I feel kinda bad for. I do think my situation is a tad different since little me was shipping herself with Minecraft men who were real people behind the screen and not just pixels. I think that further hindered me from taking an interest after that. I’ve personally had a negative connection to Self Shipping since when I did it it was in a bad fandom and little me ignored real people’s sexualities, but I think if you approach it in a mature way by not being weird you’ll be fine. Every self insert for me is just a way ro explore possible platonic relationships with characters or to just have fun drawing their powers or imagining cool scenes with said powers. I unironically have 55 Genshin Impact OCs, of which 32 are "self" inserts, like... they're not "me" they don't look, act, or have anything in common with me, but they are characters I've made that are shipped with Genshin men. I loved this video! You did your Selfship characters SO MUCH justice. XD I'm here to admit that I do have some old and new selfship people! I'm not ashamed about it either, I've even make jokes about my oc's being selfship bait during videos lol. The first selfship oc I ever made was for FNAF, and was a fox girl named Fiona Foxkin. GOD she was ugly, but I made her in elementary school. I think I was about six or seven when I made her. And for some reason she wasn't an animatronic, but just a regular anthro fox. And of course, I shipped her with Foxy. Because when FANAF first came out, the fanart and hype around Foxy was CRAZY. Heck even my best friend shipped herself with Foxy too. XD Fiona was a Twilight Sparkle clone to the core, since she was my kinnie (still is). But I guess her difference was that she was "quirky", because of the whole "Lol random = funny" humor that was everywhere back then. I still cringe about it, but I did remake her design back in 2021 for the release of FNAF Security Breach, despite not being in the fandom anymore. Also her new self isn't shipped with anybody anymore. The other Selfship OC I had back in the say was name Snowdrip. She's similar to your MHA OC you showed off in this video. She was basically perfect, nothing was wrong with her, and she had zero flaws. If she DID ever do anything wrong, then it was her "eviiiil" side that she couldn't control. That was very popular back in the day too lol. I think Snowdrip was originally made in 2015 or something? Her ship was with Sonic exe. YES, the original Sonic exe creepypasta character.😭EUGH. I recently rewrote her for an original project, and she's pretty much a different person. Sadly, I don't have all their art of either of them. Since a lot of my art was from elementary school. Most of it got thrown away, or on my PC got deleted. I still make selfship oc's nowadays. But they're better written, and I usually make them as characters first, and ship characters second. My most obvious one is my selfship with Shadow, with a character named Ofra. Cringe culture is dead! Be free! Again, I loved this video. I made *several* oc's for MHA back when I was in high school (15-17). One's that weren't supposed to be self-insert, and were rather, ones for shipping just for funzies . I almost had OC's for all of the male characters (struggled with the girls tho, lol). I actually loved my lil'creations so much that I actually still kind of use them. And heck. I'll publically embarrass myself. Here's a small list of three of them, including backstories for those curious: *Rika Smith:* She was shipped with Bakugou and had a quirk very similar to Hawk's. She was inspired by an old, now deserted KZbin channel called, Dark Tingles Asmr. A channel that specialized in making asmr roleplays where the listener lived with a toxic & abusive boyfriend. Before Rika met Bakugou, she of course had an abusive boyfriend. Terrified for her life. She used her quirk to fly away from America and to Japan to live with her mom. Rika's mom was Japanese, while her dad was an American (adding that for context since she has a Japanese first name and an American last name). After sorting out her citizenship with a lot of paperwork on her mom's end, she's allowed to _legally_ move to Japan. Where she got accepted into U.A. because of her quirk. Rika uses a childish joking personality to make herself come off as more confident that she actually is. She would initially occasionally jokingly taunt and tease Katsuki just to mess with him. In her own selfish way, it was a way of taking out (some) of her frustrations from her previous relationship onto a person who has a similar crash & cruel personality. But eventually. She comes to realize, that unlike her ex, Bakugou is capable and willing to change. That he can genuinely be sweet. And she dropped her act and apologized to him. ~ *Sakura & Ryoko:* Two sisters born to, two villain parents with demon related quirks. Their mom having a succubus transformation quirk. And their dad being a regular demon transformation quirk. Ryoko was the first child that they very clearly _didn't_ want since she was born with a carbon copy of her dad's quirk. While Sakura was their favorite, due to her receiving her mother's quirk, like planned (don't worry I kept it pg-13, and never went _too far with it_ , and I keep her quirk as a "look into her eyes and you'll wanna do anything she demands" type of thing). Despite Sakura being their favorite though, they never actually showed any care towards her. Making it clear that they only wanted her for her quirk during robberies. The blatant favoritism would cause Ryoko to run away when she was only 6 years old. Leaving a then 5 year old Sakura, behind. Since Ryoko was deemed a mistake, her parents didn't bother looking for her, which turned into their downfall since Ryoko served as an extra set of eyes to alert them when Pro-Hero's were going to show up. After their parents were arrested. Sakura would be taken in by MidNight, and would go on to attend Nabu High along side Shinso (the character that she'd be shipped with). Where she, along with Shinso, were relentlessly bullied for their quirks. But Sakura more so, for her ever having been related to villians in the first place. She'd eventually go on to attempt to get into U.A.'s hero course with Shinso. Doing so because not only her crush on him, but also because of her seeing him as an inspiration. But would unfortunately fail. And end up having to try a few more times to join the hero course. For context, she didn't wanna be a neppo-baby & , so she along with Aizawa, refused to just let Midnight let her into the hero course. Ryoko would remain on the streets until she turned 16. When she was hunted down by Aizawa and Midnight, to be put into U.A.'s villain rehabilitation program (generic, ik). Ryoko's receiving rehab partially due to how helpful her enhanced strength, endurance and speed would be on the Pro hero's side. But also due to her quirks demands. Which requires her to consume flesh or blood (emo edgey generic lol). After she first gets to U.A. and, mandatorily, introduces herself. She slowly goes through the grueling process of adapting to socializing with other people. And because of her previous self imposed isolation. Proves to be hard. Especially with one of her fellow 1-A classmates, Kirishima, who in her own words - makes her feel "sick to her stomach". - Which is just her feeling butterflies in her stomach.

tbh i've been shipping myself with characters for as long as i can remember and then this year i learned what self-shipping was and i was elated i shit you not. like there was a term for it!!! i've always been the weirdo in the friend group because of it so it's nice to see i'm not alone in loving fictional characters. your self inserts are awesome!

Also im pretty sure the same video you made last year had me wanting a self insert SO BAD and It had been in the back of my mind until around april this year cause I rewatched my hero. (Like water, too much water isn't good for you, water at a high pressure isn't good etc) so as long as it doesn't negatively affect anyone it's chill!! I remember making my first slef insert at 7, a MHA OC, Ryu Midoriya. She was the big sister of deku. She had the quirk of turning into a dragon. She had dragon horns, wings, and a tail when she wasn't in her dragon form. Every guy had a crush on her, and I remember giving her every animal in the world😅😅 This oc still haunts me 4 years later.

I always viewed it as a hit or miss kind of thing, since I haven’t seen an in between (much like a book) The “hit” is where I can totally see the thing happening (as in the character they are shipped with is still maintains their character traits, and the chemistry feels nice, along with cool backstory for the self insert). It is ever so magnificent to witness The “miss” is the opposite of what I said above, plus you can kindaaaa sorrrttaa tell that the person is WAY to into it (like to the point that they get upset when said character is shipped with someone else). Besides that, it’s totally cool, idk why ppl would hate on it (unless it’s the “miss” description thingy). I’ve seen several cool ones :D I’ve never self shipped, but self insert ships are severely based (when they “hit”) and everyone should make one or follow someone who makes some ☝️

I love the fix it Felix reveal, that was great! I guess I’ll use the rest of this comment to talk about my own selfshipping ventures! So I really love the disney movie Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and I LOVE the character Vinny Santorini. It’s kinda funny because, as a kid, I tried to convince myself that I didn’t have a crush on him cuz that would be stupid, right? Anyway I’ve been shipping with him for like a year and a half at this point, and I have a self-insert OC named Bobbie Krauss. The movie takes place in 1914 but the character is still nonbinary like I am cuz whooo cares lol! It’s an environmental sketch artist who is good at their job, but ends up drawing the team’s demolitions man [Vinny] in that same sketchbook…

When I was like 12 I had a self-insert character for the Fairy Tail anime. Her name was Arza Scarlet and she was the adopted little sister of Erza Scarlet. She was an S-Class Wizard and everyone in the guild feared her just like they did Erza, but they also loved her as well. She used light and dark magic which was basically her in different forms of armor, but her dark form would make her go crazy and she couldn't control it. eventually she sacrifices herself to save the main characters and her friends. She dies and her friends have to seek out another oc of mine (Not a self-insert surprisingly). This oc is the adopted daughter of Zeref Dragneel. Which if I remember correctly is one of if not the strongest character in the entire series. She brings Arza back to life and eventually I fizzled out of writing the story. She had multiple love interests, but her main love interest was Freed Justine which looking back now as an adult is very clearly a gay man. If you had asked me if Arza was a self-insert character I would have swore up and down that she wasn't and she was just an oc. She's honestly iconic.
