Austin, the advice you got about the CRT is 1000% true. Do not open it for 2 major reasons: 1 if you open the CRT you will release the gas that produces the canal rays that make the CRT work and 2 the gas that sets used in their CRTs in their old games was sometimes highly unstable and had a flash point of less than room temp and will simultaneously combust if you expose it to regular air.

Awesome crazy taxi brother. I took a U-Haul trailer from north of Seattle to San Francisco to pick up a pair of partially working crazy taxis just as the pandemic started. I have about 27 cabinets and a lot of Sega. You can take those cabinets apart into a couple pieces. If you open the back monitor cabinet and disconnect the main trunk harnesses going down you can unbolt the monitor pod and move it separately. You can also take the seat platform off and disconnect the seat speaker and you have three pieces that are easier to maneuver. Also Sega driver cabs tend to be too wide for some doors you have to take the coin box off there's also disconnects in the harness for that. Crazy taxi tends to be more reliable sense it's cartridge-based versus gd-rom.

I love the full size arcade machines BUT this is exactly why arcade 1up is doing so well. It doesn't take 4 guys to bring an Arcade 1 UP machine into the house and it saves room. But, I still love your full size cabinets, I wish I had room for them. And, btw, your Nintendo Switch kiosk is amazing!!!!

I worked in an arcade for a hot minute when crazy taxi had just come out. Awesome game. there is a way for the taxi to get a turbo boost by taking the foot off the gas, quick flip from reverse to drive, as you flip back towards drive hit the gas. if you want more cabinets you need to invest in a hand truck dolly. It will save your back.

I had the supreme pleasure of playing an original Crazy Taxi arcade cabinet during a school field trip to an arcade. I think I was in 5th grade. My parents in their infinite wisdom decided not to give me any money for the trip. To an arcade. 🙄 However, this location had a section devoted to games that were set up for infinite free play, and this was one of them. Back then I was really bad at the game and didn't know about maneuvers like the Crazy Boost or Crazy Drift, but I had so much fun playing the game pretty much nonstop until it was time to leave. At the end of the day I didn't win any game tickets and didn't win any prizes, and I think the other kids made fun of me for it, but it was such a magical experience sitting in that big red chair with the soundtrack blaring around me. Crazy Taxi just has this alluring energy that still pulls me back in all these tears later.

I’m going to build an arcade machine with my dad. I’m very excited I never got to play the og’s in their true arcade cabinet form so I will build an retro pie cabinet so I can emulate any game I want. It will have a 2 player button layout so I also can play games like street fighter or joust with people. I like to emulate the games but I don’t think it’s as fun playing with a keyboard.

Crazy Taxi was everywhere when I was a kid, even here in the UK. House of the dead and timecrisis was my game!!! SEGA Ralley Championship was also everywhere. I wanna go back to the 90's or even early 00's i'll settle for that

little tip, drop it in reverse then drive quickly. gives you a speed boost and will also stop the burnouts in place. slam it in reverse with the brake to stop on a dime. That will help get you up to #1. pretty sure, its been a long time, I was 19 when it came out:(

im pretty sure there is another comment about this somewhere but if im not mistaken, you can quickly shift from reverse to forward and get a boost to prevent burnout and get going quickly. but maybe that's only 3 which i played on the dreamcast. edit: i specifically remember slamming reverse and forward gears to try and get the boost correctly, i might've contributed to some wear on crazy taxi arcades, but it was still fun.

I used to live in CT (where Im from) and I drove from CT to OC California. Combos were definite staple on the road with my 17yr old daughter. Nacho in pretzel and pizza and cheddar cheese. Bro, the real secret to winning crazy taxi is to learn the boosts, drifts and 180°s. Start in reverse, shift into drive then hit the accelerator and you get massive boost, also works while your driving, that and always keep 2 hands on the wheel, 3 and 9 o'clock and only shift when you need, only noobs drive with one hand on the wheel

I heard that Tokyo Attack has closed recently. They used to supply a lot of the arcade machines for cons in the area. Idk what they’re doing with their cabinets, but maybe they’d be selling some of the extras they have left over.

I am lucky enough to have one of these large Crazy Taxi cabinets as well, and your transportation story is so similar. We also had to remove the top to fit it in a uhaul. Had a forklift to load it but unloading was absolute insanity. We had some friends help us get it out screen first but the seat half was still hanging off the back of the truck, so the whole thing was tilted like 45 deg. So I got in the truck and slowly drove away from under the seat half of the machine and we lowered it down. Luckily we don't have stairs in front of the house, but we did have to temporarily take the front door off the house so the width of the machine could get in. Definitely going to be a story that I'll laugh about for years. Did you get under the seat to clean all the components down there? The Naomi is the brain of everything and sits under the driver seat. There's a few screws right in front of the seat and then the whole chair and floor deck flip backwards on a hinge. There's sound amps, the power supply, controller interface boards and other stuff in there. One quality of life you'll want to do if you haven't already is replace a super capacitor on the Naomi. They are known to fail and can damage your system. Enjoy your machine, and thanks for sharing your experience!
