Howdy everyone and today we are ranking all of the Crazy Taxi games from Worst to best. A classic series of driving games these games are loved for being crazy and addicting! What is your favorite?

Crazy Taxi really strikes me as a franchise that could benefit from the Banana Mania treatement: just take all of the maps from the trilogy, remake them in HD, add in all the challenges, and throw in some goofy Sega cameos for good measure.

Crazy Taxi 3 has a great PC port. I downloaded it for free and there's a couple sweet mods that make the game look even better

Had no idea there even was a Crazy taxi 3, I remember playing part 02, I had a blast with it, liked it even more then the 1st TBH. You can find the original on pretty much every platform, but not 2 & certainly not 3. I'd want 2 remade or remastered, I really dug the mini games & the unlockables.

Crazy taxi fare wars is amazing if you only wanna play the original arcade map. I play it all the time but yeah everything else runs really bad but the original arcade map runs flawlessly

I won’t argue with the ordering as an avid CT player myself from many platforms can agree here but.. 1) Catch A Ride. Yes it’s a low FPS and graphically terrible but if you know the West Coast map you’ll learn your way around the bad visuals. Once you learn the trick to drifting it’s a fun game. Still the worst of the list but I like it. I can only emulate it so I don’t play it much as I prefer original hardware. 2) Fare Wars. Easily the best portable version, I mean there’s no competition with Catch A Ride 😆 but for me it’s actually very good. I have no problems with the controls at all as I can limiter cut accurately as needed. It’s slower but not really. It’s a 30fps game whereas the rest (Not Catch A Ride) are 60fps. As for music it does offer Custom Music in the settings where you can play your .MP3 files in the game. Press select to change songs. They’ll be displayed briefly on the bottom of the screen. That’s how I play it for my captures. Multiplayer is through Ad-Hoc so no WiFi needed. It’s also the only version that offers two players and the competitive modes look fun. I’d play them but I needs friends for that 😅 3) I don’t play CT2 since the map isn’t fluid to me. Too many sharp corners ruin the fun but the added Crazy Hop and multiple customers is cool. 4) Dreamcast. Easily it’s graphically the best original console version with 480p as PS2 and GC are 480i. Not including digital modern downloads on PS3, 360, PC or newer.. The controller is the worst though. 5) Crazy Taxi 3. It got a graphical enhancement from the original, map is expanded, added crazy hop (from CT2), map from CT2 and an extra new Glitter Oasis map. Added the 4 cabbies from CT2 and 4 new cabbies for Glitter Oasis for a total of 12 driveable cabbies. All licensed music and locations in tact just the other two maps are at night so there’s motion blurring. Complete Crazy X and you’ll unlock 3 other vehicles (baby stroller, horse carriage and rickshaw bike) and all cabbies to use on any map. Also has multiple customer pickup.

CT3 maybe the best yeah.. though I hate the heavy motion blur on its 2 out of 3 maps...

@@alex.starostin I agree with that! That’s one reason why I won’t play those maps lol. Another is they’re not as fluid as the Arcade map. They should’ve had a daytime option for those maps. I think that could’ve fixed the blurring.

@@JMLRetroRoom there's no need to fix it, they could just make it an option and let the player disable it. Reminds me of GTA Vice City on PS2 with its terrible motion blur which you could thankfully disable and it even adds to the performance

@@alex.starostin Well that would’ve been nice but I gather they were in a hurry to release it which is why Glitter Oasis has poor performance. You should check out the PAL version. 50hz, all original licensed music is gone and the music is glitchy in Glitter Oasis. Fila is also removed but the rest is there. So I think they could’ve done more like fixing the blur but most likely were at some sort of time constraint. PC version is much the same but at least there’s patches for the music and the frame rate is 60. There’s also a nice widescreen patch as well.

It should be mentioned that Fare Wars had custom soundtrack support, so that was an easy way to circumvent the lack of The Offspring and Bad Religion. My guess is that was their intention since they couldn't get the licensing or something. Either way, you can get your YA YA YA YA YA's back and even add some of your own stuff! Personally I liked adding a bit of Smash Mouth to the mix. 🔥

I think your were a bit harsh on Fare Wars. It’s pretty much a spot-on port of the first two games, only 30fps. Which isn’t great, but it’s not bad either. It also has custom soundtracks if you insist on the original music. Or there is a hacked version that puts the original songs back in as default.

I had the PSP game. It was pretty fun when I was a over the road semi driver. I only had the PSP game and the GameCube game for consoles and I have the steam port of the original game.

I admit i clicked mainly cause i wanted to hear someone talk about the mobile games lol Cause they're like. Fundamentally super different games from a standard base crazy taxi and talking about the different formats and styles and unique ideas (or for the idel game, unique story and characters) in them that youd like to see in a Real Crazy Taxi game or not and getting those sorts of opinions on that would have been fun But also monitization hell lol so I Get It too

Crazy Taxi 3 also got an arcade release. I think the reason 2 doesn't get as much love is that its a Dreamcast exclusive, so not many people actually know about it, and I also think the map is not that great.

Hello idk if you’ll respond but I wanted to get crazy taxi the og for the Xbox 360 but many are saying it doesn’t have the og soundtrack with the offsprings and is it true? I didn’t buy it but I guess since crazy taxi 3 has the og game and soundtrack then I’ll get the crazy taxi 3. Which do you recommend?

I’m pretty sure the 360 version doesn’t have the soundtrack I’ve always played on dreamcast and gamecube which do. Crazy taxi 3 is great though!

Can't stand The Offspring or Bad Religion, so (imo) their exclusion from the PSP game is a massive plus. Besides, the controls and frame rate aren't nearly as bad as you suggest. I'm not saying the game is anywhere near the top, but you make it sound like you played ir for about 5 minutes before brushing it off completely.

It's a shame you didn't cover any of the mobile games. Crazy Taxi: City Rush was actually a pretty fun mobile title. It was sort of like an endless runner game mixed with Crazy Taxi's core mechanics. You start a level with a passenger jumping into your car and you gotta take them to their destination within the time limit. Granted, you can't download it anymore. Not sure if apk files for it exist or not. And I wouldn't say it's better than the main games. But man, it was a fun time. A very good mobile conversion of the series!

The series was ruined with the Crazy Jump in CT2. Why would you give the player the ability to jump at will over obstacles in a driving game? That's insane in its stupidity. I can only explain it by Sega observing that players crashed into everything. Which is still no excuse. I was also shocked to learn that they used the same songs in all three console games. They had decades of more punk rock to license. No wonder we did not get more games. We should have had ten of them by now!

Respectfully, that's YOUR opinion, since I adore the Crazy Hop mechanic and the fact that it improved, or at least evolved the formula. Crazy Taxi 2, with no interesting change from the first, would have been just Crazy Taxi in NY. With that mentality, we probably wouldn't have even made it to the great Crazy Taxi 3! And to your last sentiment about having "ten of them by now," BRUH, remember, this is SEGA we are talking about! Sega is a company that cant manage anything that is worth a damn past a good/great inception, I.E.: Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy star/PSO, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage (well the rumored 3d Saturn/Dreamcast era one that eventually became "Fighting Force", and just the better (yet not saying very good) first "FF" since number 2 was very below mid), oh and most of all, CONSOLE MARKETING STRATEGIES! Sega could have had more Crazy taxi games, hells they could put one out now to crap all over that BS "Taxi Chaos" game that came out around 1-1/2 years ago to show TEAM6 Game Studios how its done right, if they (Sega) had any F'n Clue about how to treat their waning fan base. I used to be a die-hard Sega fan, but I only just like them now, especially when they put their hand into developing some good product!
