As a former Factory Rep for Toyota Motor Corporation, Your little MR2 was what we referred to as a Little Japanese Ferrari. It was always one of our favorite Cars! Toyota didn't sell enough so it was eventually discontinued. The MR2 that you own IMO was the very best MR2 we ever produced. Wish you the best with your little Awesome sports car!

Hey Sarah, I usually don't comment on any videos, but after binge-watching almost all your video's I had to make a couple, 1st, hats off to you for your persistence in doing the job right, (I'm OCD myself, so I know the feeling) a commodity that's usually overlooked, 2nd here's an easy way to time your cars if you've removed the distributor, with the engine ready to fire #1 ( you can put the timing mark at 5-10º to get even closer) remove the wire from #1, put a spark plug in the wire, ground the plug, turn the ignition on, rotate the distributor until plug fires, (go back & forth a couple of times to get it close) snug up the bolt & start, you should be close enough to fire w/out spitting fire.. I've used this method on numerous cars & it puts you in the ballpark. Hope this helps in any future builds. Keep up the great work!!

Sarah I'm a recent subscriber but have binge watched your 68 mr. dos vids like a season of GOT. The end result looks great and it was an adventure watching the process. The paint is on point, the fogs look great, the black slats in the grill and trim work great. The wheels aren't my fav but it's your dream/vision not mine. IMO your attention to detail and passion to make the final product of your vision come true kept me watching. Don't apologize for yourself and don't worry about what your viewers want for content. Push forward and we'll follow your journey. The struggle is your content opportunity not the end product.

I had a friend in college who got one back in '92 (maybe?). It was in a silver-blue color that was really nice. We were all jealous and I saw him around town for the next fifteen years with that thing. Still a great-looking design and, honestly, I think it's aged really well. Just look at a 2009 BMW or anything else to see how most cars don't age well. Great job, Sarah. Cheers.

Nice. I have a 91 non turbo also but it is all stock except 17 inch wheels. It is a good car but unfortunately my water pump died sometime back and it's just been sitting for a few years since I have other transportation and money for repairs had been nonexistent. Fortunately I have been able to remedy the lack of funds to repair it but I want to do more than just repairs and upgrade the car in several of the ways you have. You did a great job and I am thankful for your documenting your effort. I feel like you have given me some good insights, ideas and definitely inspiration. Keep us posted on the ongoing project. Hey Sarah, been lurking for a while... So happy for you to see Mr. Dos completed! Back in high school and for a while after I graduated I had a 3SGTE swapped 92 (same stock tranny as Mr. Dos, and yeah - she pulled REALLY strong all the way through 4th gear, got a little lean above 5k in 5th because of the shorter gears). I got consistently about 12 mpg on premium on mine (ran like absolute CRAP on regular and responded well to octane booster or race fuel), but I was running like 14 PSI (on an after market T3/T4). She was destroked (don't remember the rod length off hand, this was like 15+ years ago) bored .030 over which put my compression at that magic 7:1 ratio at a little over 2.1L with forged internals. Man, I miss that car but it spent more time in the shop than it did on the road for the 3+ years I owned it. you should really get Mr. Dos dynoed, I bet even without a tune or higher than stock levels of boost he's putting down at least 300 HP. The 3SGTE is a really well engineered motor, and in a tiny mid engine 2 seater it puts most of that power to the wheels (but... because of the way the engine bay was designed its an absolute PITA to work on. I remember having to undo one of the motor mounts and jack the engine once to change a belt because I just could get to the tensioner). with a proper tune and some boost you should be able to make 450-500 on the 3SGTE reliably. Only issue standing between you and making some real power with Mr. Dos being the need to upgrade the fuel system. If only somebody would have told my teenage self that investing a bit more cash into the suspension and stopping ability of that car would have made it a much more pleasant (and less terrifying) experience to drive. BTW, I swapped the tails for the 93 JDM tails. I respect your decision to keep the period correct ones, but the 93s just looked WAY better IMHO. FWIW, I would highly recommend swapping out those non turbo brakes for the turbo setup and stiffen up the suspension. My MR2 made almost 500 when I finally sold it and it was REALLY squirrelly around corners and especially with no ABS, you're going to want to put some brembos, at least on the front. IIRC, somebody made a kit to swap the front brakes from the round tail Vette (C5 I think?) onto the 2nd gen MR2s. also - my MR2 was the same color as yours with t-tops.

That's a beautiful result Sarah and it brings me back. I owned a '91 Jap import T-bar back in the day. One difference I remember is that the 'MR2' logo on the back lit up luminous green in the dark, just so the people behind could see what you were driving :) . That was cool. I'm not sure if that was stock on the Japanese cars or an after-market mod. They were a fun car and I hope you get many thousands of miles of joy in it. As for your skills, determination and sheer hard work. You put the rest of us to shame. Awesome work Sarah.. well done.
