Mark! I love your resourcefulness! You have definitely show many ways to save money which in turn allows for purchases of items that there may not be alternatives for and come with a hefty price tag. I love building things and had it not been for my acquiring my booth from my boss after he passed away I would have done like and built my own. Love your channel and you enthusiasm! @@grandpamarkshobbies Dude every time I watch your videos and you make a comment about how your sausage fingers get in the way or you you make a mistake, it’s not edited out and I enjoy that. It’s what happens to all of us when we’re at our table/ bench. I find myself talking to myself all of the time after smudging the paint or whatever. I want the realism. I want to see how other people overcome obstacles that any of us viewers may experience. That is the purpose of creating Contant, so that others can learn from you. Thank you for the time that you invest into your videos. I can only imagine how much time is involved.

Thank you very much. Other than golf, this is one of the most rewardingly frustrating hobbies out there. I am all for being real and keeping things up front. That way everyone knows just how easy and difficult something can be. I spent an hour the other day trying to remove my valve covers from the heads and not destroying the carb linkage or fuel lines. LOL That would have made a good video.

Thanks so much for the video Mark! I’ve been kicking around the idea of an airbrush and compressor setup trying to justify the expense with the high price of everything nowadays….turns out all I need is the airbrush and hose! Your channel is great much appreciation from a fellow diy’er.

Nice Mark! Just what I was going to do until my Son in law gave me a Master Airbrush & booth. It's not big enough for me & has a top fan extraction. that I really don't like. I managed to build it out with some cardboard. I also found that these old hands really didn't like the top button on the brush so I invested in a pistol grip and it made all the difference for me. It works great and came with a 3,5 & an 8 needle. So I'm set too. Love doin the dumpster divin too! Thanks for sharing.

A car buddy of mine and I were just talking about the " Throwaway" generation. Which by all stretches of the imagination is my generation. I told him yea we just throw stuff away and not fix things anymore. A little ingenuity and and imagination and we can build whatever it is we want. But to get those skills ya should have took some things apart to fix and gain a general knowledge of how things work. And I was always tinkering lol

Hey Mark - I did a quick search on duck duck go with that Binks/Wren airbrush you have there . E bay has several used ones kinda cheap also new ones sell from 217 - 378 dollars ! So venture to say that replacement consumable wear items seals o-rings and such are still available and I will check with Binks for that ... Thanks a mint for for your tutorials !!!

That airbrush is outstanding for putting down a lot of paint (or clear coat as that's about all I use if for) A friend of mine gave it to me, and it's more for LARGE jobs. I used it to repaint a section of the wife's car where I had to do some body work. It has a spread of from two to six inches and will go through the paint very quickly. Just wanted to take a second to thank you for watching and the kind words.

@grandpamarkshobbies
@grandpamarkshobbies Жыл бұрын
I got that from Harbor Freight, but unfortunately they quit offering it over the past month or so. It is not good for modeling, but for the woodworking projects it was good to prime and base coat them. It ate a lot of paint and had about a four inch spread. My guy at Harbor Freight said they've been asked about them a lot and it's possible they may get them back.

Nice tutorial..so how many gallons is that tote? I might start getting ready to make me a spray booth.. Im wondering if it works with spray cans🤔
@grandpamarkshobbies
@grandpamarkshobbies Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. I think it's 2foot by 1 1/2foot by 1 1/2foot deep. I wouldn't use spray cans because of the way I have the fan. You'd want something explosion proof for that. The only thing I spray is acrylics, so I don't have to worry about it flashing.

How happy are you with that compressor? People say they're loud and don't last long.
@grandpamarkshobbies
@grandpamarkshobbies Жыл бұрын
I like the compressor. It sits right next to me, and it is loud, but it was soooooo darn cheap that I'll put up with the sound. It does have a quick duty cycle, but it never goes low enough to impact the airbrush. As for lasting long, I've had mine for at least six years now. I do drain the tank often but hardly ever get anything out of it. I would love to have one of those small airbrush compressors, but for that price I got the compressor, air separator, quick disconnect kit, airbrush cleaner, and airbrush stand. Just keep your eye out for sales and you can't go wrong.

Really? Such a setting could lead to disaster. Especially if you're going to run lacquer through that older style fan. Im not an expert, but im pretty sure its not certified as an explosion proof fan. I hope you have a good insurance policy.

Thank you very much for your concern, but I only use acrylic paints, and I clean the fan and filter regularly. When I get my new shop built I will be making a full blown spray anything booth. But for acrylics this is fine and works very well.
