Yes it makes sense. What a good way to explain it, and yes I did that too. It was a way to enjoy a new phase in life and to make all rooms useable. Every time one kid moved out (I have 4) there was a change in the house and rooms where shifted. When the last one moved out that room was made into a super nice guest room and my husband and I started enjoy being just the two of us in the house. May I ask something? On the floor in your new work space just in front of those great windows there is a small grid/bars area. Is that for heating? Maybe a dumb question but we don't have these things where I live and I always wondered about them.

Yes it's a thing...I went through my whole house and got rid of a lot of crap we hadn't used in what felt like forever or if we even had ever! I changed rooms around (like you one room to the next) It felt like I was finding the me I had put on the back burner for the past 18 years...So yes Mam it's a thing....I now have that crafting room I have always dreamed of having!

Yes. My son went to Texas to do a job. He was going to be gone for a couple months and so we "burned out the cell". LOL new carpet, new paint, new curtains, new bed, no dresser. Just a guest room. When he came back he knew the space was not permanent for him. He was the last one to leave and my husband told him when he got married, "Make it work cuz you're not coming back!" We are in our 60's and LOVE OUR EMPTY NEST!!!

Yes! I think it is! I did the same thing when my 3 children grew up and moved out. But beware,,,there is another stage coming once you become a grandparent...re-nesting to prepare your home for new little humans.❤️

I love your office! The only areas of my house that are well lit are my kitchen and living room. My office is dark since it only has one window and I wasn’t thinking when we painted it a Williamsburg blue. But I wanted to use up the rest of the paint and cover the pink since the previous owner’s had it as their little girl’s bedroom. But I still love it. It has my three bookcases, my massive desk that my pastor gave to me, my recliner, another chair, and a desk that was in an old hotel in my town that was torn down back in the 50’s. My Dad had it in our basement when I was growing upholding some of his tools. I think it dates back to the 1930’s and is very special to me. My office is my happy place.

I have never had children, but 'un-nesting' somehow makes sense and doing something for yourself sounds even better ... btw, love those earrings @ 19:25. Your new office looks amazing and you, Randy & the boys 'together' enjoying the same room is a WIN-WIN situation. My pups hate a bare floor too! They look for the carpet or rugs- and love windows to watch what's going on and give us the "bark" report!! When my last one left for college- it was so strange to have an empty nest...we converted a bedroom to a home office too! Reclaim your house- and it keeps you busy too!

I love the items you chose. The metal wall decor, rug, the pink throw and pink flowers in the picture harmonize so well! I never could pull things together like that, mine is more, well, I guess you could call it 'functional". Un-nesting makes total sense I am still doing this! Yes, I did this when my daughter finished college and got married. I totally know the feeling! I haven't moved my office from the basement to the main level of the home but I turned my daughters room into a sewing room and my son's room is the guest bedroom. The office turned out super cute and so bright! I love it!

The bedroom that was my kid’s nursery is now my dressing room! I have a makeup vanity, a cute corner reading area, a TV on the wall and all of my office clothes and shoes are in one place! It’s so cozy and I love it! My mother in law lives with us so I share my vanity with her. She’s 85 and still loves doing her makeup, especially in the new room!

I made one of my son's bedrooms into a craft room when they were both gone. Painted, decorated, got a pretty desk, etc. I think what you are going through is really normal and it's healthy to have a project to do for yourself in the first months of missing them!You're not really "unnesting" but kinda rearranging your nest for a new phase of your life. Oh and yes un-nesting is real. We were ALWAYS so busy I doing for children then when they are gone THE HOUSE IS QUIET - so we go into survival mode. So we get busy with things we wanted to accomplish or projects put aside. Thank goodness you have Max and Pollux babies - and they are ADORABLE. Pollux is so happy and Max loves his companionship. It is called empty nest syndrome and it does really help to occupy yourself and maybe start some new hobbies or even get a new routine. You will need to create a new role for yourself. My daughter, who has returned home twice after failed relationships, is about to leave home again so I am just going through the same thing myself for the third time. I am occupying myself with online foreign language groups and doing some maintainance on our house as well. Hope you will manage to get through this smoothly!

I LOVE your "un-nesting" theory", I agree!!!! I tell my grown-and-gone kids all the time that you go thru stages in life where you are on the move, then you settle in, establish careers, start a family and gather and accumulate things and stuff, then after that stage, for some of us, you are on the move again and don't want to be weighed down with "stuff"! My heart was melting the way Pollux was observing the portraits being put up and even when the job was done ...it was like he couldn’t believe someone loved him enough to have his portrait on their wall ..it was touching to see how observant he was about it , I’m glad you filmed it . I’m sure when you come in the front door now it’s probably the first thing noticed and a smile soon follows. 😀

Yes "un-nesting" I'm with you Renee. My oldest son is 34 and just got married June 2019. He was living in California, I currently live in Florida we are from Georgia. I've never met my daughter-in-law, she comes from Australia. They met in California one day I'll travel to Idaho!!! LOL. Where they were married and settled down. My second son is here in Florida. But it is just me and my dog and she is my baby girl she is spoiled rotten and I love her to pieces.

You are do right. Never thought of it that way. Un-nesting. Turned a room of my e into a sewing room and now with 2 grandkids another room is a playroom. My little granddaughter is so curious about my curls. Lol I started my silver hair journey March of 2019. Had my hair trimmed 9/10 and no more dye. Best part is looking at old pictures with my 5 year old grandson and him saying my dyed hair looks “weird” !
