Update: Behind the screen that Kasa switch now controls the Left right AND Infinity Sub Crown amps as well as the swan M500 and I put the MiniDSP for the Center/Sub switch on it as that unit after 200 hours or so needs to be reset or it doesn't output so now it gets refreshed whenever.

A really good projector to review which is a mid tier 4k is the optoma uhd38 , its amazing ,personally im also going through a theatre setup myself currently , would love to know what your thoughts are on cieling speakers , im running a standard surround sound ,centre stage left right centre two rears and the ceiling speakers with directional tweeters for my side channels , effectively a 5.2.1 set up, im still dubious on the ceiling speakers being used as my side channels , i might flip it and add side channels and then use the cieling speakers for atmos only

Hi Zeos, there is a fairly simple way to do a 'studio-grade hifi' + 'home cinema': combine an audio interface, e.g. MOTU 8A, with 5-7 studio monitors, e.g. Tannoy Gold 7, Fluent, or Adam, and 1-2 subs. Other interfaces work as well but MOTU has a web interface that makes control simple for everybody.

That would work, Still relying on the Motu's dacs but that is OK.

What brand of audiophile cinder blocks do you recommend? I guess they make the sound more 'solid', the holes in the cinder blocks improve the 'airiness' and elevating the speakers obviously elevates the complete 'sound stage'. Good audiophile stuff needs to cost at least 1000 USD, so really wonder about the price of those cinder blocks.

@GhostAcez3 жыл бұрын
You may already know this but just in case you didn't. I heard you mention your mortgage towards the end of this video. Did you know if you pay half your monthly Mortgage every 2 weeks instead of all of it once a month you will pay it off around 3 years early and save a bit of interest? Doesn't sound like much but basically it makes it to where you pay 1 extra payment per year. Edit: 3 years early* not months. Sorry I was tired earlier. Also great setup!
@redstang51503 жыл бұрын
Yes, but it depends on whether your bank will let you pay it that way. I tried to set up a bi-monthly payment like that and my bank wouldn't do it. I can pay extra, of course, but they wanted an entire payment once per month.
@GhostAcez3 жыл бұрын
@@redstang5150 You could always just take 1 payment and divide it by 12 and pay that much extra every month if you could. It would have the same effect. Like say your house payment is $1,200 for the sake of easy math. Just add $100 per month in that situation and you would pay it off 3 years early. Also there are pay off mortgage early calculators online that you can play with that allow you to put your interest rate in and cost of home and how many years it is. Then you can put in numbers like $50 extra per month for instance and it will tell you how early you would pay it off if you pay that much extra per payment and tells you how much interest you should save.
@redstang51503 жыл бұрын
@@GhostAcez Yep, but then you start getting into whether it's worthwhile to put extra towards your mortgage, which is tax deductible and probably around 3% interest if you've financed any time in the last several years, making it not too hard to invest it and earn more - OR put that extra towards your retirement IRA/401k. Interest rates being so low make it less desirable to pay extra on a mortgage.

So if I understand correctly, your subwoofer is only getting the center channel? Is there any disadvantage to that compared to sending it the actual LFE track?

Cheap king-size sheets at walmart, best blackout wall / ceiling coverage for the $. Have black carpet from bottom of screen to front chair row, keeps light from bouncing back to screen- light colored floor kills contrast ratio / black levels.
@AmorDeae3 жыл бұрын
I don't know if it was supposed to be sarcastic but running a power cable exactly parallel to the signal shouldn't do anything, cause the way EMF is generated around a wire means any voltage gets induced across the cross section of the wire, not along it's length. The capacitive coupling with average size insulated wires would only be a bit of a concern with a weak signal and very long wire

Question for anyone. I’m currently running jbl 580’s left and right and the tiny jbl 520c for center. I’d like to upgrade to dual 530’s for a center similar to his swans but I can’t do an acoustically transparent screen. Would I lay them down under the screen like my current setup or could I run them on the sides of my screen aside my 580’s and create a center image. Not sure how it would sound or would it cause some conflict with the left and right speakers.
