Suggestion - If anyone is in the same situation -storage shelving- you are showing here: You can put up a sun block curtains around it. leaving opening at the bottom of the shelf and at the top of the shelf, so you use 'Command Strips' to velcro the sudo curtains to keep the light out but still air can circulate around. I did this in my condo :)

Great info. I store the bleach cubes from Walmart. They now sell them in small containers for laundry but I buy the 50lb case in the pool section. Dry bleach is easier to store than liquid. :)

Seriously, you are my new hero!! I HAVE to make a binder now. We have a canning shelf too, but it's not quite as big. We're trying to get more organized with what we need to process from the garden, because we had a lot of garden waste last year. Although we did have a baby last year, so I'll cut us a little slack. So glad I found your channel!

This was SO helpful, thank you for posting the links so we can download these printables for our own use too! I'm fairly new to prepping and I haven't come across anything that is so detailed like the stuff in your binder. I'll be busy tomorrow printing these pages off and starting my own binder. I have several coil bound note books, but I like the binder idea better. It can get overwhelming at times, with all the new stuff I've been learning and a weekly check list (somethings on the lists I hadn't even thought of!) of things to do/get takes away a lot of the panic, LOL. I learned how to can last fall and I was looking online all day today at videos of new things to try when I came across several of your videos (apple/pear syrup, making your own brown sugar--oh, and the video of your pantry was awesome and inspiring!) and I had to subscribe to your channel. You're so down to earth and easy to learn from, thank you for all that you do, for sharing this with us all. Love and Prayers From Canada! :D

I love watching how far you've come! We prep for job loss, as that has seemed to happen quite a few times for us! And if I didn't have food storage, we would have possibly lost our house or car, just to buy food. I am not allowed to add things to the food storage as of right now, as we are closing on a house on Friday and hubby doesn't want to move all that food! We have been eating it down and it's making me very worried!!

I love that I am not the only one with an out there canning shelf! Display it proudly! I added cloth around the sides and front of mine. I just used little rings (small binder looking things) and made a kind of curtain system. The sides are solid and hooked top and bottom, the front is two panels. Kind of like the free standing waredrobes. I have thick, neutral toned, utility fabric most of the time, but I can easily change it out when I get bored. I can't wait to see yours all bilt-in and professional!

Great on the binder...may I make a suggestion? The sleeves you are using will not protect the paper from air and deterioration. What you need to do is get a laminator and laminate them, then they will never deteriorate .

HI, concerning binders, I was at Goodwill & found two 3" binders, priced at .99. Wow ~ what a bargain! :) I got them & didn't use right away BUT I do think the homestead binder is a great way to utilize this. I've also recently seen the hour long video of Wendy DeWitt talking about food storage. You've both inspired me to get started doing this. I like that you break it down into more 'manageable & down-to-earth' way... so it's less intimidating to us, newbies... thanks for the great videos & I'll be sure to check them out!

+Elka Carroll Also check stores after School starts for CLEARANCE. I found an excellent Nylong covered, zippered, binder with handle and carrying strap for $5. plus a few inserts to help keep organized. and I LOVE IT. My honey sprayed it with Obenauf's sealer/waterproofer (Just in case). and you can put so much in it and a couple would be portable, weatherResistant, strong, and can carry so many recipes and your storage logs. Just a thought.... School supplies on clearance.. a good thing.

I absolutely love this...thank you so much esp for the links, they are great. My mom use to do something similar not to this extent but had a pantry of several bags of everything she did this from back home ( the caribbean ) where she would prepare in case there was a hurricane ( shelves in market ran bare quickly) and she'd have enough for the older members of our family who would stay with us if a hurricane came through. I keep a bit but never really knew how much of what, this will be of tremendous help!

Wow thanks for the info! These are all really great resources! I don't consider myself a prepper, but I do like to have some food storage in my home. I live in an area were basically there is one main freeway in and out. Well a few years back we were hit with a snow storm that no one was prepared for or expecting. The freeway was shut down for 36 hours, people couldn't get home and the roads were a mess for a week! We tried to venture out to get groceries, and the store that we went to was out of just about everything fresh because their truck was stuck in a second freeway shut down. It was awful! Luckily we learned our lesson, and now have emergency kits in the cars and always have lots of beans and rice on hand! =)
