My Honest Helikon Tex Gear Review

As a military surplus-retailer company, Helikon-Tex was established in Poland in 1983 and kept its direction, maturing as a company and gathering experience for over a decade.
In the late 90', when the growing mismatch between current military gear solutions and the new challenges awaiting a modern-day soldier became obvious, Grzegorz Mieszczak, the owner of the company, decided to develop up-to-date military and paramilitary lines of clothing and gear.
1999 was a milestone in the formation of Helikon-Tex as a producer and a brand itself. Building our own Research&Development department, based on true professionals in their field, we started to design modern and specialized solutions for advanced practitioners and hobbyists in the military, shooting sports and outdoor activities.

Can personally recommend the Helikon Wolfhound packable jacket (super light, warm, wind and water resistant, longer cut, makes a great mid layer), the Foxtrot MKII belt rig with H-harness, and the Swagman Roll (dude, it's a woobie, poncho and sleeping bag in one! Super warm, water/wind resistant and lightweight). Nice honest reviews here. Reaffirms my affinity for everything Helikon-Tex. Prost, from CT.

Your assessment is practical and spot on! I got a few items too, and I 100% stand by your opinion. When I got my SFU pants, my only complaints were that it looked kinda rough on the stitching, but this has since been fixed from what I have seen. The bigger issue was it seemed to make a lot of noise. Sounded like I had an astronaut's suit on, but it has been sturdy and practical. I've mainly used it for airsoft an range training and the occasional "hunting" trip and it has held up fully. I especially like the cargo pockets. Same goes for their BDU pants - brutally oversized, but tough AF. I only have the Patriot and Classic Army fleeces... and the Patriot is oversized AF, but I got no problem with that. The materials are still good, after quite some use. I have heard that the PCS smock is nice, but the mesh that lines its pockets can tear if you got keys in there, for example. It's not exactly a Windproof smock either. I love the Gunfighter Sharkskin Softshell! But it's the most expensive thing I got, so it had better not suck. Their latest Outback additions are quite well-received, but are above my budget.

Is it just me or do the seams come apart easily? I own the Infantry fleece and UTP, the Cuff ripped after a year’s us and the Pocket got an open stitch after a couple of months, both used in normal, everyday conditions, I’ve worn Levi’s longer than those yet it’s still good as new, anyone?

On their site it says the Bergen backpack is made ENTIRELY of 500d cordura. Is this a lie on their part? Did they remake it? I’m confused.

Hi Max, Bergen and Matilda is absolutely different backpack's. I don't have Helikon-Tex Bergen and that's the reason I cannot give my opinion about quality.

I find them to be a little tighter fitting in cut - have bought a few Helikon . Been unhappy with two items ( $300 ish value ) items in sizing. pay close attention to their fitting guides
