Would you buy this board or not?

i have the 24.5 version i,m right their with you with the pros and cons . I wish the tension cord didn't take up some of the fin box space it really limits which fins i can use. (I heard that the 2023 sprint version addresses this issue) also the nose cone gets chips/cracks even if your extremely careful. At the end of the day you can't go wrong buying this board its worth every penny.

Great insights and I totally agree with you as well. Hopefully we'll see some of those improvements in the newer models. 🤞

You bring up an excellent point Ethan. I would think some of these companies would be willing to listen to their customers and offer to put the mounting fixtures and / or handles where a buyer might prefer them. I've tried tried talking to a number of paddle board companies about this, with absolutely no reply. It's very frustrating.

Yeah, it's hard for the companies to make tailored boards for each rider which I understand. But, at the same time like you said it would be nice to be able to customize the board more.

I had to watch this again while I was making my decision on the SIC RS airglide. The Starboard is a way more unique shape than all the other race inflatable boards on the market. I did end up going with the SIC because it was $300 on sale and I just couldn't see spending $600 more for the Starboard. I also think what pushed me towards the SIC is how light it is, for travel and it being a lighter overall setup. I have a 8.3 SIC weedless carbon fin I am going to try with it and also doing what you have here with the BP Ray. That fin is so awesome for helping stabilize a board. I am getting more and more info on the Paris Open paddle that happens in December every year down the Seine, finishing at the convention center past the Eiffel Tower. That is a bucket list paddle for me. We have been in Paris twice while it was going on and I have kicked myself both times not joining in. Even though you get such nice weather during December, maybe I could entice you to join me in such an endeavor? I have been communicating with Chris at BP to grab a 3 piece race paddle from them, just so I have my travel kit ready to go.

Sounds like an epic bucket list paddle! Maybe one day I'll be able to join you on it!

I just got the new Starboard Generation inflatable version and It's amazing. I'm considering buying this one too, I've seen that there is a downwind version that's supposed to perform better at the sea. What's your opinion on that?

Congrats on the new board! I’ve heard a lot of great stuff about that board. As for the downwind version of the All Star I do think the extra rocker and width would make it a more enjoyable experience paddling in downwind conditions. But, if you don’t plan on doing a lot of downwinding then the regular All Star is probably the better all around option. It mostly just depends on what you plan to use the board for. Hope that helps. 🤙🏼

I found this 28” 14 in downwind version, in your honest opinion in rough water would I be better of with the dual chamber touring in 14 30” for rougher water? I’m currently 6’ 205
@ethanhuffsup
@ethanhuffsup Жыл бұрын
The 28” downwind version of this board will be more rigid than the 30” dual chamber touring board. The stringer on the Allstar Airline that runs from the noise of the board to the fin box does make a big difference with the rigidity of this board as well as the carbon stringers that run down it. So, having a more rigid board below your feet in choppy conditions is always nice. But having the extra width on the touring board will help make the board more stable side to side in choppy waters. On the other side the Allstar will push through the chop easier due to its more narrow noise and noise cone. So, in the long run I would recommend the 28” 14 downwind Allstar but obviously at the end of the day it’s totally up to you. 🤙🏼

im 6'4' , 120 kg . in your opinion would the 28 version be a good choice for me? I'm an intermediate paddler with around 1 year of experience but unfortunately I don't have the choice to try it before buying it

If you’re looking to transition from an all around board to a race board then the 28 would be a good place to start. Then later once you get comfortable on that you can transition to a narrower board.

I'm currently looking at the 2023 version, would you recommend this version or the sprint version of this (both inflatable as I don't have the storage space)
@phantomskate84
@phantomskate84 Жыл бұрын
the sprint looks like a safe bet , better fin box I surf and catch bumps on the Allstar version but trust me the Allstar version preforms a lot better in the flats and imo the sprint will only build from that; also try to get the narrower versions if you weigh less than 180lbs they might be a little tippy, but they make up for it in the acceleration/speed department 😎
@ethanhuffsup
@ethanhuffsup Жыл бұрын
It depends on what type of paddling you want to do. If you're going to be paddling mainly in flat water then the Sprint is the way to go. But, if you plan to paddle in choppier conditions or swell then the Allstar is the better option.
