Personally, I trust Purito because they handled everything with grace and immediately took the sunscreen off the market. Other brands (Keep Cool, even Krave) did not handle it as well and were trying to evade the topic. I think everyone felt burned by Purito because of the popularity of their products and how beloved they are. But, they handled everything well and tbh that's good enough for me, especially compared to the other companies!

@@someotherguy4413 true, i just wish that they were upfront about the actual spf, because i dont think that they handled it the best edit: i truly don’t think either purito or krave were the absolute worst about the way that they handled the situation, especially when brands like cosrx still advertise their sunscreen as spf 50+ despite their spf only being around 35

I'm like you, I can't wear mineral sunscreen. I'm anxious to see what their all chemical sunscreen is like. I don't have any concerns or emotions about trusting Purito. They are much more likely to be releasing a sunscreen that has been tested and verified than most any other company is right now in my opinion. I like Purito products and I respect how they handled the issue and this new launch.

I definitely feel like purito is so harshly criticized by everyone, I mean compare to purito look what other brands did like keep cool, dear klairs etc, heck even horrible company like drunk elephant still got support ( I know they are unrelated to the sun screen scandal bit still they always treating their customer like garbage), the new sun screen is very shinny on me so I have to use sun screen powder or other powder tone down the shine, but my mom absolutely love this, she have really dry skin and absolutely love this.
@KellyDriscoll3 жыл бұрын
The criticism is valid but uneven since a lot of brands definitely flew under the radar in terms of taking responsibility and feeling the wrath of angry customers. I feel you on DE it astounds me that they are still so popular with multiple incidents of terrible customer service. I think they ended up selling to unilever (I think it was) at just the right time to ensure their longevity.

I told my sister: hey that sunscreen I recommended to you got caught up in some scandal about not having the advertised spf. And she shrugged and told me this was the first summer she didn't get a sunburn because she enjoyed reapplying the sunscreen (she is pale and burns in 15minutes). She was so chill about it, she didn't burn and she didn't get itchy from the formulation. I'll recommend her this one next, because she trusts Purito now. Personally I'll stick to less shiny formulations.

I'm dehydrated with eczema so I was nervous to try but this spf is beautiful! It's lightweight but moisturizing, and so glowy! I think it might leave a cast on deeper skin tones but I'm not sure. I have been using it for a few weeks. It’s true that it’s rather shiny but I use setting powder on top, as I don’t wear makeup. One strength to add is that IT DOESN’T burn my eyes 👀, which is a deal breaker as far as I am concerned. The Isntree watery sun gel made me cry a river every time it got in my eyes, so no matter how lovely the finish is, if your eyes sting, you won’t end up wearing it. I love your videos btw- greetings from Barcelona 😘

Loved the review! I tried their new sunscreen too, thinking they’d feel the pressure of their own liability, in addition to how the company professionally handled the scandal publicly. Personally, my dehydrated skin has been appreciating the texture of this sunscreen. On me, the shine dies down over the day like the Canmake spf does. I still like Canmake better, as it has that watery texture during application that the Purito doesn’t have.

Zinc oxide gives my eyelids contact dermatitis, and a lot of chemical filters sensitize my skin. Titanium dioxide is great, but doesn’t have broad spectrum by itself. All this to say, this formulation works so well for me, and I will use only this sunscreen for the foreseeable future.

What a complete and concise review! I second literally everything you said as I have been trying it the past two weeks as well. The emotional component is what got me, as well as Odile Monod saying herself she would not be trying it, and I do respect her opinion, as well as Dr Dray who was similarly wary. I'd love if another independent test could be done not affiliated with Purito so I know for sure. Until then this is a nice indoor sunscreen, but I will be particularly perched for their new chemical sunscreen as I have the same issues with Zinc oxide. For now, I'm loving the Goodal Houttuynua Cordata suncream, which has been independently tested, is fragrance free, and doesn't look as shiny!

My skin doesn't like mineral sunscreens either, and I have an inkling it's Zinc Oxide as well. For the longest time I thought it was because it was too drying for me but I've even tried the CeraVe hydrating tinted mineral sunscreen SPF 30 that Dr Dray raves about (which is formulated with Ceramides, Cholesterol and fatty acids) and still my faces itches like crazy. I've heard many derms and doctors here on KZbin recommending mineral sunscreens for sensitive skin so I just find it so perplexing that my skin, which is not even that sensitive to begin with, would be sensitive to it. 😅😅
@lorainemcgillivray773 жыл бұрын
Hi Kelly I haven't tried it yet tbh as truthfully I'm pretty happy with the spf's I replaced the other one with. I'm using paula's choice, skinceuticals and ultrasun as my spf "wardrobe" and have no need to stray from those. The skinceuticals mineral spf50 lotion is my daily go to and doubles as a makeup primer for me. Despite being someone who has struggled with the drying effects of mineral filters in the past, both this and the PC calm spf30 normal/dry seem to have enough moisturising ingredients within them to counteract that. The PC calm mineral spf 30 is THE most gentle spf I have found and I can even use it during a rosacea flare (I have both rosacea and eczema). The ultrasun chemical filter spf is what I use when I need more bullet proof protection and my skin copes with the drying effects of it, in the more humid Summer weather. All of these I wear over a moisturiser btw, but I have very dry skin. I have avoided using Korean spf since the debacle and I did lose confidence in the efficacy of Korean spf's. I still use on and off other Purito products eg the unscented centella serum is a favourite. I would probably try the Purito (as I also think they cannot fail with this to survive) if I was unable to get the skinceuticals I wear most days. I know skinceuticals sounds really OTT, but here in the UK this spf is the same price as the PC and the ultrasun - around £25 to £30 depending on offers. I am prepared to pay that amount to get an spf that really works for me and I have confidence in - the confidence being more difficult aspect to get on board with going back to Korean spf. I appreciate the review and was able to use the canmake on my chest (it wasn't too shiny), but my face itched with it in the rosacea areas. Best wishes.

I’m so conflicted about Purito right now. I do think they did exactly the right thing after their sunscreen failed testing, so that’s a definite plus. But from what I understand, they told their manufacturer to make changes to the formula that they must have known would decrease the protection, but they didn’t let anyone know at that point. Then they got caught, removed the sunscreen from the market, and now have this newest version. I think you’re right that the whole scandal has probably motivated them to be extra careful about this kind of thing; I’d be shocked if we found out that this version failed its testing. But it’s pretty darn dishonest and unethical to sell a formulation that couldn’t provide the advertised level of protection. That said, I never tried this sunscreen before, and I won’t be trying this one either, for reasons totally unrelated to the scandal. But I’m still not sure I want to continue buying their other products, like the Unscented Centella serum which I love. If I’m wrong about the gist of the story, please let me know!
